At age twenty, Molly Shakespeare knows a lot.

She knows Descartes and Kant.

She knows academia and Oxford.

She knows that the people who love you leave you.

She knows how to be alone.

But when Molly leaves England's grey skies behind to start a new life at the University of Alabama, she finds that she has a lot to learn — she didn't know a summer could be so hot, she didn't know students could be so intimidating, and she certainly didn't know just how much the folks of Alabama love their football.

When a chance encounter with notorious star quarterback, Romeo Prince, leaves her unable to think of anything but his chocolate-brown eyes, dirty-blond hair and perfect physique, Molly soon realises that her quiet, solitary life is about to dramatically change forever...

About the author

Tillie Cole

54 books24k followers
Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!

*Romeo vuelve a “dominar” a Molly.

*Romeo sabe que Molly es su “para siempre” or some shit like that. Le pide que se casen. Ella dice que sí. Juntos viven felices para siempre y tiene cuatro hijos y siguen follando como conejos aún después de veinte años de casados. La vida es bella*

Yo: description

*Fin*

Yo:
description

9/9/16...After watching the NFL opener last night - GO BRONCOS! - I feel like setting everything else aside and re-reading one of my all-time favorite football series again...

10/19/15...Re-read...

I've read this so many times, if it were a paperback, the pages would be worn out. Just LOVE it.

Every time.

5+++++ Sweet Stars

description

This book was like a mix of Legally Blonde, A Cinderella Story (that movie with Hilary Duff), Beautiful Disaster, completely over the top family drama and possessiveness, spikes of Alabama football, and the ridiculous names of Molly Juliet Shakespeare and Romeo Prince...all with with an English flair to sweeten the kitty...and I inhaled it like a Dyson.

description

I am a total sucker for the hot guy falls for the nerd stories.

description

It's shameful. It's cliche. And I'm not sorry.

And if you take that theme AND add sports, and alpha male, AND random Shakespearean and Monty Python references?!?!

Holeeeeeeee. Shite.

Mind BLOWN.

I enjoyed the fuck out of this story.

Molly was really sweet and level-headed and I liked her a lot.

description

And Romeo was swoon-worthy.

description

I just LOVED them.

There was also a decent supporting cast and an engaging plot, which I always love. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

EDIT: DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ THE REVIEW? TL:DR TILLIE COLE HAS BEEN AN IGNORANT RACIST POS FROM THE START OF HER CAREER.

Dear authors,

If you are British, and you must set a book in a specific American location, then, for the love of anything that you hold dear, DO SOME BLOODY (for the Brits) FUCKING (for everyone) RESEARCH.

Let us count the ways in which this book is just WRONG.

1) Our "heroine," Molly Juliet Shakespeare (I know, I know) is a 20 year old graduate student at the University of Alabama.

Yet somehow, Molly is housed by the university with undergraduate students.

Yeah, but NO. Graduate students have their own housing.

2) Molly is the TA, but is introduced as a fellow student by the professor.

Yeah, but NO. She is not taking the class as a student.

3) Molly is instantly challenged by your typical nasty mean girl bitch who basically tells Molly - someone the bitch just met - that Molly is a pathetic loser. In front of the entire class.

Yeah, but NO. Even mean girl undergraduate bitches understand that graduate TAs DO ALL THE GRADING. So mean girl bitch - in the real world - would have just gotten herself a big fat failing grade. Or at the least, a warning and a referral to the student conduct council. Most schools - and I have to believe 'Bama would be the same - have a code of conduct for students and the mean girl stepped over it.

4) Molly's undergraduate roommates take Molly to pledge a sorority.

OK. Words fail me to describe just how RIDICULOUS this scene was. No sorority rush works this way. The pinning takes place first (?!?!) and THEN the rounds of parties?!? And the final party is not some sort of a preference night, but a toga party?!??!! (Because Animal House is SO 2013.) And Molly's SENIOR YEAR roommates are finally getting into a top sorority despite failing to make the cut three years in a row?!?!?!

No. No. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

5) Molly's Goth, senior year roommate wants to be in a sorority because she thinks this will make her a cheerleader. At 'Bama. At the start of the fall semester

Let's look at this set up again. A SENIOR wants to be a cheerleader. Even though football season should already be in progress by this date, and the cheerleaders would have been selected long before. Also, we're talking 'BAMA. Where football is a religion, and cheerleaders aren't far behind.

6) The pledges are initiated by kissing a boy and guessing what he just ate.

I'm going to let the horror of this sink in. As if this wouldn't get the sorority kicked off campus before one could utter "Roll Tide." Also, sorority initiation? Is more than just a kiss and keg (and like a keg would be involved in the first place!)

7) I'm stopping before I get to the football. Because from what I've heard, Tilly's depiction is more rage inducing than her sorority mishegas.

Look, I get it, this is supposed to be some big swoony if paint by numbers New Adult romance. (Although the characters are more caricatures than three-dimensional humans. The prologue flashback to Molly's childhood is saccharine and on-the-nose, and was wholly unnecessary. Molly is your usual "woe is me, I'm so ordinary and nerdy" NA heroine, while the hero, Romeo (I KNOW, I KNOW) is defined by his abs more than anything resembling actual personality. Everyone says "darlin'" and "ain't" all the time and drop the "g''s off the end of their sentences so the reader knows we are in the SOUTH, doncha know. I'm surprised Scarlett and Rhett don't show up just to rub that in more. And the Americans are all white, privileged and/or incessantly horny because, reasons. Like that the book is written by a Brit whose closest association with the US, apparently, is that she watched an episode of Friends and the aforementioned Animal House.

But all these nitpicks are, y'know, apparently superfluous to the FEELS and the HAWTNESS and the OMG SQUEE.

And I suppose this is revenge for authors such as Raine Miller getting everything about life in London wrong.

But here's the thing. I can't turn off my self-literacy respect. I just can't. Maybe others can, but I can't disregard the fact that I love to read and I love authors who care deeply about their stories and who work hard to craft them to the best of their ability. And when I read something like this, something so obviously slap-dashed together to cater to a hot market without any care for the reader's reading comprehension ability and need to suspend disbelief -

- I see red.

So, SRSLY, authors, DO SOME BLOODY FUCKING RESEARCH in your haste to join the Great New Adult Money Grab Rush.

DNF. I lived in the UK. If I wanted to be around Brits who get everything about life in the US wrong but think they know everything because they watched an hour or two of telly, I would have stayed there.

5 ROME AND MOL STARS.

"So are you to my thoughts as food to life, or as sweet seasoned showers are to the ground." - William Shakespeare.

description

Calling all lovers of the slightly angsty NA genre with a gorgeous hero with anger issues, and a feisty geek chic heroine. I will not make any apologies for my (slightly predictable by now) Lisa style gushing review, I felt so at home with this book I've decided that if me and this author ever meet we would be firm friends. What a sweet, sexy, dramatic and perfectly romantic story of college star crossed lovers. Warning proceed with caution, I loved this book so I may just be a tad dramatically over the top with my book love, here are my 'sweet home' book thoughts ...
description

What's it all about?
English born and all round studious, croc wearing geek Molly Shakespeare has the opportunity to study and lecture abroad in an all American college so when this lonely twenty year old hits the university of Alabama she expects to stick to her studies and live her life how she knows best - on her own. Romeo Prince is the university star quarter back his specialities include his bullet arm and charming the ladies into his bed. Both these characters have a troubled past, both these characters feel the depth of loneliness neither of them expected to find eachother. 'Sweet home' is the story of Rome and Mol a duo who couldn't be more different, a tale of opposites attract and finding true love. But will they be able to hold on to each other when everything stands against them? This NA story shows how love can change everything, all in one summer in Alabama.

description

What did I love?
Let me start by saying that I love a stateside college romance, everything about a book that showcases the lifestyle of American colleges has me hooked, so couple that with a fantastically British feel and you know that this book was ticking some serious five star boxes for me. This book had British references galore, but for me she was authentic on both counts, the author told her story with confidence; the writing was fluid and engaging and utterly full of romance. The whole story was filled with gorgeous, swoon worthy moments of heart-in-mouth loveliness. The first kiss was knee-knocking, heart melting standard and I'm sure if I'm having a bad day re reading that scene over and over again wont be totally out of the question. I really enjoyed the books cute spin off references to Romeo and Juliet and I love nothing more than a beauty and the beast/make over type scenario played out in my books and this gorgeous number hosts all that and more. Onto the characters, even though there was a 'seen this before' familiarity with the character types I didn't mind, I really fell for both the leading and secondary characters. Molly Shakespeare was geeky, outspoken, wonderfully English and totally unaware of her 'fall in love' with quality charms, I never once found her background and hardships annoying she was in my opinion completely adorable. Romeo Prince was heavenly; he was sweet, alpha, tormented and gorgeous in one American style football star package and I was sold. Molly and Romeo are heart warmingly sweet and sincere, she is his lucky charm, he is her family, there was not a moment where I didnt doubt or fall more in love with their connection. The whole package worked for me, this author really made the story work for my reading tastes and I'm excited to see more books released by this talented writer.

description

Final thoughts ...
Undoubtably there will be 'those' readers that find holes in this story, they will talk about a predictability factor and they will most likely compare it to similar books in the genre but for me I ignored all those things because the enjoyment factor was top notch. I can't express how much I enjoyed this story, I had gigantic case of the book butterflies and and I could not put this addictive page turner down. This story will not be for all, it has some over the top drama, one controlling hero and some bad decisions made along the way, but it also has some laugh out loud moments, some hotter than hot bed time action, two unforgettable characters and a group of best friends that you'll fall in love with, so If like me you enjoy this genre then don't delay, go grab it readers. Enjoy ... Kisses.

5 *Lucky Kiss* stars!

 photo c8d6eac3-9e66-40f1-aa81-0850f158f4b1_zps1d71b8e7.jpg

When more than one friend tells me to read a book, and they all go on and on about how much they think I’ll love it, I really need to learn to listen. Otherwise, I’ll go months and months without reading that book, and when I finally do- I wonder why the heck it took so long. Sweet Home is that book for me. I have no idea why it took me so long to read it, but I’m so happy I did. It’s just the kind of book I needed. A sweet and fun tale of a modern day Romeo and his Molly Juliet.

Molly Juliet Shakespeare is a twenty year old student from England. She’s followed one of her professors from Oxford to Alabama to get her masters degree. Molly is fantastically nerdy and lovable. She’s not the most social or popular girl. She’s spent most of her life alone, losing much of her family young. She captured my heart from the first time she shouted Fuck wearing orange crocks.
Even in the vocabulary-rich world of academia, sometimes only the word “fuck” will suffice.

Romeo Prince is the bad boy/football star of the campus. He doesn’t do girlfriends. He does hookups. He plays football and works hard at school to try to please his difficult parents. When he meets Molly, he is taken by her. There is something about this girl with the crazy hair, glasses, and english accent that makes him want her.

It all starts with a good luck kiss….

 photo d2352e4d-cdad-499b-bf67-9590b786934c_zpse9db493e.jpg

Once Rome has had a taste of Molly, he wants more. Molly has experienced so much loss in her life, she finds it difficult to get close to anyone. But Rome breaks through her walls. He cares for her and she feels more for him than she’s ever felt for anyone. What Rome loves best about Molly is that he can be himself with her. She see’s the real him and she loves him of who he is.
I like the way you are with me. I like me when I’m with you. I feel like I could tell you anythin’, that I could bear my fuckin’ black soul. You make me feel… well… you know…. You get me?”

“I get you, Romeo.”

 photo 8c7d6204-83ac-476d-a100-9176f2f15730_zps4484186f.jpg

Rome is such a swoony hero! He’s sweet with Molly, but he’s also little broody, protective, possessive and all kinds of sexy.
“Not at all, Shakespeare, but hear this. I’m gonna fuck you, but I’m also gonna make love to you. I’m gonna own every goddamn piece of your soul, and I’m never gonna let you go. You’re gonna scream my name over and over until it’s permanently lodged in your friggin’ throat. You’re not gonna be just a fuck to me, Mol—you’re gonna be my fuckin’ salvation!”

Molly is that fun, feisty and geeky girl that you can’t help but love. She’s smart and kind, someone you want to be your very best friend. I couldn’t help but love both of these main characters 100% of the time!

This couple couldn’t be more different on the outside, but when you really take a good look at them- they’re more alike than you would think. They bring out the best in each other. It was more than just an attraction between them. It went deeper than that. Rome and Molly had a connection. They understood each other, respected each other and just got one another.

I loved all the Romeo and Juliet comparisons and how the story was thrown together. It had just enough drama and angst to keep me on my toes, but it wasn’t an angst overload.

 photo 7cb9ca76-53d2-489f-a31d-12972263e8da_zpsf44916b4.jpg

Sweet Home may not be the most original story I’ve ever read, but it’s a book that I devoured and thoroughly enjoyed. It’s the first Tillie Cole book I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but it won’t be my last! Romeo and Molly were such endearing characters. I adored everything about this fabulous couple. Overall, light and fun but it did have it’s heartbreaking moments. If you’re looking for a college aged NA book, pick this one up- It was fantastic!
“A home is not a place. It’s not a country or a town or a building or possession. Home is with the other half of your soul, the person who shares in your grief and helps you carry the burden of loss. Home is with the person who throughout it all never gives up on you and brings you eternal happiness.”

There is nothing more I dislike than not finishing a book. Especially one that I spent money on. And more than $0.99. Sadly, this is a book that I couldn’t even force myself through half of to try to justify the money spent.
A couple of my sticking points:
1. Write what you know. If you haven’t spent a significant amount of time in the south, don’t write about the south. Droppin’ the ‘g’ off any word endin’ with an “ing” and addin’ in ‘ain’t' every few words doesn’t make a realistic dialogue. It makes for an annoying one. This could have been a decent book, but every time I saw the missing ‘g,’ I got distracted. I’m pretty sure you wanted to write about a southern boy and thought “oh, all southerners skip the ‘g’, it’s perfect!” That would be the equivalent of me adding in bloody every other bloody word and considering myself bloody English. In choosing to write a book where the character needs a strong regional dialect, either spend the time to get it right, or place the book in a locale where it comes naturally.

2. Show me the money! Or in this case, the emotions. Scenes were so much more about telling vs showing that they didn’t make sense. Romeo’s anger never came across and it was so confusing. I only figured out he was angry when Pollyanna let us know “He was angry/mad/upset/brooding/pissed off.” Half the time I read a scene, then Molly would say something – comment on his alpha, take-charge, no-shit attitude, or the like – and I would just be left stumped. Because what I’d just read wasn’t an alpha, take-charge, no-shit attitude.

3. There is no chemistry at all. With anyone. With Shakespear and Romeo. With Shakespear and her friends.

4. Peripheral characters were just that – grossly exaggerated caricatures of people. They don’t come across as real, they don’t come across as having any kind of relationship, and they don’t add any value. Although, this gem was wonderful: ‘What’s up, bitches? Are we headin’ to this jig or what? I want to see what prime beef is on offer? Mamma’s taco needs a good ol’ fillin’.’ Let’s just digest this line for a few seconds. It really could have been an example in point 1, but I digress. She’s southern, so of course, she’s missin’ her ‘g’, and we even went so far as to get rid of the ‘d’ on ol’. But a jig? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone in America refer to a party as a jig. And the constant references to the fat girl were just annoying. Why do we need to know everything that she’s eating?

If there were any way to get my money or my time back, I would be putting in a request for a refund on both.

3 1/2 to 4–Made Me Smile–Stars.

Sweet Home is the type of New Adult romance that would normally drive me nuts but ended up capturing my heart instead. Sure, there were some over-the-top, cheesy, and contrived moments that I couldn't help but roll my eyes at, but I rolled them with a HUGE, CHEESY GRIN ON MY FACE AND LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

I had so much fun reading this book. I loved the love story, the light and youthful feel, the angst that didn't feel too angsty, the playful humor, the heartbreaking moments, the possessive hero with a vulnerable side, and the sweetest, quirkiest, heroine I've read to date. I adored Molly. She's a New Adult heroine that's unique, a-dork-able, and a breath of fresh air.

I read to escape and this book gave me just that...a great escape. I can't ask for more than that.

"I don’t remember Romeo being this pushy with Juliet!”
He arched his eyebrows meaningfully. “And look at how that worked out for them. My way is better—less death, more orgasms.”

I devoured Sweet Home - this magical, adorable and extremely hot novel - so, so quickly, that I regret not doing it slower, only to enjoy it longer. I wish this book never ended. After reading few chapters, I felt glued to the pages, my heart started beating faster and I couldn’t make the silly grin disapear from my face. It was so, so good!

This story is so unique and refreshing. Roller coaster ride full of twist and turns, Sweet Home is intense , full of action passionate read that can be finished in one sitting. You will read it while biting your nails, laughing hard, wiping tears and fighting with lady boner.

image

This is a story of Romeo Prince, twenty-one year old Quarterback - broody, sexy and possesive alpha male - that doesn’t take no for an answer. As a college star and extremely rich son of owner of oil plantations, Rome should feel like the king of the world, but his life is far from being perfect. Romeo suffers from cruel, controlling and demanding parents that treat him badly. Every day is a constant fight for being himself, when they want from him something else entirely. Living with a great responsability of being the best football player and fame makes it even harder for him to be free.

A small smile transformed his normally hardened features and he took my hand and ran it across his ribs. “Are they all there?” I frowned. “What?”
“My ribs. Is there one missin’?”
My hand smoothed up and down his sides. “Okay, I think you’ve lost it. You think you’re missing a rib?”
He exhaled a quiet laugh. “Just thought God took one of mine when he made you.”

Molly Juliet Shakespeare is a totall geek. In her nerd glasses, English accent and doing her master’s while being only twenty, doesn’t make her the most social person. Add to the mix that growning up wasn’t easy for her – first she lost her mother, few years after that her father and then grandma, Molly is completely alone in the big world.
When she finally meets Romeo her lone life changes.

„I get so lonely that at times, I literally think it might kill me.”
Devastation engulfed his features and he rolled on top of me, urgently pressing his mouth on my lips, on my cheeks, on my forehead. “Molly, baby, you’re breakin’ my fuckin’ heart.”
“It’s true and I’ve never told anyone that until just now… until you. For me, it’s been the hardest thing. It’s amazing how loud the sound of silence can be screaming at you relentlessly, reminding you that you’re completely on your own in the world.”
Romeo licked his bottom lip anxiously and his eyes began to glisten. “Can I tell you somethin’?”
I nodded shyly. He ran his finger down my cheek, but almost as if the action fuelled his strength rather than gave me comfort. “I’m desperately lonely, too.”

image

Romeo, sigh, Romeo! He is the perfect example of alpha male and the characteristics I crave in my men. Possesive, yet caring, sweet and gentle when the situation begs for it and rough, controlling when the time’s right. He made everything so freaking hot! Sex scenes were out of this world and the connection he had with Molly only made it so much better!

I have no idea how to describe how much I adored this book. It’s impossible. Sweet Home is a perfect mix of sweetness, pain and deep love. Step by step, page by page I slowly fell in love with this complex bittersweet story. I live for surprises like this! When I don’t know what the story will be like and then when I finally start to read it, and it melts my heart, make me swoon and enjoy it very much, I’m the happiest person in the whole world.

Overall, I’m in need to find my own Romeo, and not the one Shakespeare wrote about. I need my own Romeo Prince. Sweet Home is fantastic book and I can’t wait to read and sweet what else Tilli Cole, can come up with. I highly recommend this book for every fan of sexy new adult books.

I love this author!

5 stars for Romeo Prince and Molly Juliet Shakespeare!

"Hey, Mol."
"Hey, you."
"You gonna give up that sweet kiss?"
"If that's what you want."
"It definitely is."

Whilst there are threads from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet throughout this book, Sweet Home, it is not just a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

Molly is a twenty year old brainiac. She's super smart, studious and sensible. With no family and no ties, working-class, English good-girl, Molly Shakespeare leaves England to study her masters in philosophy at the University of Alabama.

"I came to college to study, Cass, not to whore myself out to drunken frat boys!"
She gaffawed. "Whatever, darlin', you won't be thinking of studying when your ankles are wrapped 'round some stud's neck as he wears you like a necklace, tickling your belly button from the inside!"

Dangerously handsome, twenty one year old, bad-boy, Romeo Prince is the star quarterback for Crimson Tide. His successful future in football is a dead cert and he's 'Bama's hero. Woo! Roll Tide! But his cruel, controlling, oil tycoon parents have other ideas. Ideas of him taking on the family business and marrying their version of his perfect suitor.
Molly has no clue about crimson Tide, or quarterbacks, or anything football related, for that matter. She doesn't know that Romeo is notorious, or that he is unattainable and dangerously moody. She just knows that he's devestatingly good looking and that he makes her heart race.

"He's standoffish, all moody and dark, but more importantly, he's the friggin' starting QB for the tide!"
"Official statistics - six foot three, two-hundred and thirty-five pounds of solid muscle!" Cass added excitedly.
"He's a what? For who?"

When Romeo and Molly meet, both their worlds change completely. But can these two 'star crossed lovers' find a way for their completely different worlds to work together?

I was a huge fan of Tillie Cole's previous novel, rom-com movie star romance, Eternally North. (Check it out if you haven't already)
So when she asked me to read Sweet Home, I jumped at the chance. And it didn't disappoint. Again, there was some light hearted humour, a whole lot of swoon-worthy romance and also some heavier, juicier threads to the plot-line, too, adding extra depth to an otherwise sweet, cutesy romance.

It's a fairly typical bad-boy falls for good-girl story. There's a lot of them about, but I just can't get enough of them. There is something fundamentally adorable about a big hulking badass guy who suddenly exposes his soft, gooey, sensitive centre for the girl of his dreams. Don't lie, we all want that bad-boy who turns good just for li'l old us! It's the ultimate romantic fantasy for most girls. And that's exactly what you get with Sweet Home.

"You, Molly Shakespeare, have just publicly made out with the most desirable guy on campus. A guy that never commits to anyone. A guy that other guys are shit scared of and girls would gladly give a lung for."

Romeo is a super talented sportsman. He's ripped, fast, gifted and has a very quick temper. He has the obligatory tortured past, dysfunctional family and anger issues, to boot. He's lonely and broken and you can't help but want to fix him. Of course, he hides his scars beneath his man-whoring facade, sleeping with every girl that throws themselves at his feet. That is, until he falls hard and fast for geeky, glasses-wearing Molly.

"Why does any human want anyone? My body recognises you as something that's good for me. My mind recognises you as someone who's right for me, and my soul recognises you as someone who is meant for me."

Molly is the ultimate goody-two-shoes. Sweet Home is told from her point of view, so you really get to witness her transformation throughout the book, as she discovers the girl behind the glasses. When we meet Molly, she's not a fan of parties, she can count her friends on one hand and she has only ever had sex once. Oh, and she wears bright orange Crocs. 'Nuff said!

But don't panic, she isn't irritating and in denial about her feelings for Romeo. She quickly realises that she's attracted to him and is curious to explore those feelings, despite the fact that they scare her a little and push her out of her comfort zone. She's a great heroine and I really enjoyed reading her.

I loved the comparisons to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. They were well written and comical, in a way that Tillie Cole almost pokes fun at the parallels between the two stories in some parts.

"It only took Romeo one look at Juliet and his fate was sealed. Maybe I'm just like my namesake, and maybe you're just like yours."

There are some very steamy sex scenes and Romeo is super controlling, super alpha. At times, I felt that he veered a little away from dominant, toward annoyingly bossy and a little aggressive, but for the most part, it was extremely hot!

"I don't remember Romeo being this pushy with Juliet!"
He arched his eyebrows meaningfully. "And look at how that worked out for them. My way is better - less death, more orgasms."

I loved that these character filled a void for one another throughout this story. Both Molly and Romeo are cripplingly lonely and they find solace, comfort and companionship in each other. I really felt that connection between them, and I felt that their bond was that much stronger because they each understood one another's pain and craved the support that the other could offer them. So heart warming.

"I get so lonely that at times, I literally think it might kill me."

Despite a relatively light-hearted, fun feel throughout the majority of this book, it does deal with some deep, intense issues. There are some heavy, upsetting scenes and I did shed a few tears. Read my 'warnings' at the end of this review if you are easily effected by emotional triggers. However, Tillie Cole did a great job of conveying the emotional trauma and of piecing her characters back together at the end of the book.

"Molly, a home is not a place. It's not a country or a town or a building or possession. Home is with the other half of your soul, the person who shares your grief and helps you carry the burden of loss. Home is with the person who throughout it all never gives up on you and brings you eternal happiness. That, Molly dear, is your home sweet home."

I would highly recommend Tillie Cole's books. She's fantastic at writing stories with a little bit of everything in. Her books are sweet, romantic, sexy, funny and gripping. She's incredibly talented at being able to create stories that will not only have you giggling and swooning throughout, but also have depth and emotion, too.

Molly Shakespeare has had quite the life at just twenty years old. It has been tragic for her, and now she wants to a new start. She leaves England to go to the University of Alabama. Adjusting to the american life is a bit of a struggle for her, but her new found friends are eager to take her under their wing and teach her how to experience life. Another thing that has Molly clueless is how much these people of Alabama love football. She just doesn't get it. When she meets the star quarterback, Rome Prince, she can't help but feel attracted to him. She just has no idea who exactly Rome Prince is or how he will impact her life.

Molly Shakespeare was somewhat of an introvert. She enjoys reading and studying. She has been on her own for quite some time so she has become accustomed to her solitude. When she arrives in America she realizes that it will change for her. She makes friends very outgoing girls that thrust her into the sorority life. I liked that just because she seemed quiet on the outside she could defend herself when she needed to. She was intelligent, caring, and just overall very likable. The poor girl didn't stand a chance when it came to Rome Prince. Holy smokes was he hot! He was super alpha and it drove me nuts how much that melted me. I seriously loved the guy. He doesn't have the best of upbringings either, which is how Molly and him connected even deeper. They understood what it was like to feel alone. And because of their connection, they inevitably fall for each other.

This story was über sweet, just like it says in the name. I really enjoyed this one and loved the main characters. Despite it being really sweet it wasn't complete fluff, there were some sad parts that really pulled at my heart strings. There was also a bit of angst to keep things interesting. I could not believe how awful Rome was treated by his parents. I just loathed them. I was so glad he finally had someone that cared for him in Molly. Molly and Rome were so perfect for each other, they may have had their flaws, but that didn't affect how much I liked them. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because it was crazy cheesy and a tad bit predictable. However, I couldn't help but love either way. It was a great romantic read. Now, if only I can find a real life Rome Prince.

– 3.5 stars

Sweet Home had over the top characters, both main characters were lowkey annoying, the writing wasn't Tillie Cole's best since it was her debut (I think?) novel, a lot of unnecessary drama, but I read this shit in one sitting and for some weird reason I felt pretty emotional reading it 🏃🏻‍♀️all I'm saying is that the book was pretty trash honestly, but I love trash ♥️😌

4.5--SWEET and SEXY--Stars!!!

I am seriously swooning over here! I don't know what it was--timing or what--but this book was just what I was looking for. I really, really loved it!!!

Sweet Home is the story of Romeo Prince and Molly Juliet Shakespeare. Now don't go running for the hills....Molly and Romeo's story was so-so sweet. They melted my heart. And made me smile. And giggle like a love-sick school girl! LMAO!

Molly, 20 has landed in Alabama by way of England (yup, she's British--LOVE). She's studying for her Master's. She's quirky, different, brainy. She meets Romeo on the first day of classes. Romeo is the starting QB for the Crimson Tide. He's aloof, angry, moody, man-whore. He's intrigued by Molly.

Romeo, Romeo, Romeo.....

Romeo was bloody brilliant. He was possessive and demanding and RAWR but at the same time sweet and protective and loving. It was the perfect mix. But he was so broken and damaged from his GAWD awful parents.

Romeo's mom...

Not to mention that BITCH Shelly, don't even get me started on her. UGH!

I loved the supporting characters--Molly's tobacco spittin' roomate Cass especially. She was hilarious!

Really there wasn't a ton of angst in this book. At least nothing too stupid and annoying. There were a few cheesy bits but nothing that took away from the story. Romeo and Molly were super HOT together...Romeo in the bedroom.....HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE!!!! I need a Romeo.

I loved their football game "kiss" tradition.

SO sweet! I just loved Romeo and Molly....everything about them. They were two broken people who found "home" with each other.

5 "Hey Mol, Hey you" Stars*****

First of all what a whirlwind I have lived breathed inhaled and LOVED every Goddamn word and sentence this story has given me, I mean why haven't I read any of Tillies books before? What an Idiot... anyway I digress you get it I loved this whole story with A BANG actually sports romance is a genre I adore it's one of those stories where I can get away from life and delve into and really remember university life being younger with no responsibilities as such but mainly its sweet, fun a whole lot of sexy and this one has a stack on emotion in the mix which MADE ME FELL!!! Gah sorry this review is going to be slightly soppy 'I apologise'

So What's it about?
Molly Shakespeare is studious she delves into books and works hard cause she learnt at a young age what its like to be lonely she runs away from anything that will allow her to get near anyone else just in case that person gets taken away from her again. Her mum died at birth her dad died when she was 6 and then her gran who she adored and brought her up died when she was 14 leaving her in foster care we know that's not always the best therefore she has brought herself up she stands on her own two feet and with her head held high, but she doesn't let people in greatly until she meets Romeo.

Romeo hasn't had the best upbringing with cold hearted parents who only care about money and their reputation it doesn't matter about his goals or aspirations or what he wants with his life that's what they want for him to be the dutiful son, but Romeo is the Best Quarterback in town he's a born leader and loves his team, but due to his upbringing he doesn't let people in either apart from his cousin who he adores and his only release is women lots of them but they don't know his heart nor anything other than the player that he is.

But one class is all it takes to find each other and find something that pulls at their seams they just can't seem to walk away from each other. This is very much a story about two people who are from two different worlds who find something in each other that gives them hope and ultimately love which is what they both deep down crave~ to be loved.

"Why am I more? I don't get it." "You just are. You somehow give me peace in my completely fucked-up world. you get me; no one has before. It's that simple."

They understand each other like no-one else has they've been so closed off from feeling and letting anyone in that when they see each other THEY KNOW!

This is also a story about firsts!!!
 photo 2729D6B5-9643-4E89-A85B-A1E8D7A6324B_zpsqrcmymap.jpg

Touches and kisses.
 photo kissing gif 2_zpstfmnjve6.gif

Romeo is the Quarterback he loves his team it's what he strives to be, he loves it he's good at it but his parents don't approve and while he loves it he has to be careful with the people he cares about which is why he's never let anyone in. This book has a level of angst to it, I was biting my nails at the later end of the book when I realised or guessed what was happening. Romeo is Intense and when he loves and lets in he loves HARD and HARD he loves his girl his lucky girl who he needs to protect and he'll do anything in his power to do that.

 photo 3481A8B0-7413-4AF4-B679-2635AC8717F3_zpsywxyfp7k.jpg

My Thoughts
I loved it, it kept me on my toes I was ahhing when they first kissed, I was jumping for joy when they got down to it I mean those scenes blew me away, Intense sexy emotional and I had tears in my eyes on many quotes I highlighted a lot. Rome is everything I want in an hero he's Strong, he wants to dominate in the bedroom its where he seeks control its what he needs, where his parents never aloud it in his life he does there and he does on the field. He's a born leader as explained throughout my review but he is also sweet and he melted my heart, he has a BIG OLE HEART I really don't know anyone who couldn't love his soul and I really will be thinking about him for days.

Molly is Independent, slightly geeky but opposites attract and that was for sure with these pair I instantly felt their attraction, their chemistry THEM. She is also strong but they ultimately needed each other and together they were heart warming, lovely, sexy I really don't want to stop reading them so going to now read Sweet Rome.

I have only one real life friend who loves to read as much as I do (just one, isn't that crazy?! What the hell does everyone else do with their free time??) Anyway, every once in awhile she'll recommend a book to me that I absolutely MUST read and it always comes with her standard endorsement of "OMG this is the best book evarrrr!!!" Lol, I love her enthusiasm, and actually, I just plain love her to pieces. Problem is, I effing hate her book recs.

"What's up, bitches? Are we headin' to this jig or what? I wanna see what prime beef is on offer. Mama's taco needs a good ol' fillin'."

If you think these are humorous, believable lines, then please by all means read this book. If, however, you thought that piece of dialogue was stupid as fuck (like I did), then I advise you to run away from this book – fast.

I lost count of how many times I screamed in my head, “WHO TALKS LIKE THIS?!?” Jesus, the dialogue was awful, terrible, fucking horrendous! NO ONE talks like these people, the whole thing was a total joke. Even if this had been the best plotted story, I still could not have liked it simply because of the dumbass dialogue.

Also, this was not the best plotted story. Not even close. In case you couldn’t tell from the subtle hints in the blurb, Sweet Home is a story that appears to be inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It makes me cringe to think that this well-known tale of star-crossed lovers has been used in any way whatsoever to inspire this piece of work laden with cheesy circumstances, stupid dialogue, and weak characterizations overflowing with over the top stereotypes. And Shakespeare is probably rolling over in his grave right now and wondering-- ok, I am so NOT gonna finish this sentence. I had typed out what I was thinking and realized it was too much, so I’m letting the delete key do its job. (I’ll just say it had to do with a taco and leave it at that.)

This is the 3rd book in a row that my friend recommended to me that I hated, and I’m really sad that it seems like we’re starting to just have different tastes. In the past, we’ve had fierce love for several of the same books, like The Opportunist and Angelfall, but in the last year things have taken a different turn. (And it goes both ways too: she asked me why I hated her and if I was literally trying to kill her with boredom when I had her read The Burning Sky, lol.) Oh well, all I can say is, thank god for goodreads.

5 “You’re my home” Stars.

Sometimes when I read a book, I’m lucky enough to think when I end it: “Why did it take me so long to read this??!”. This was exactly what happened for me in this one. I thought why it took almost a year for me to read this.
Because, my friends, this book is a majestically written and beautiful love story. I’ve cried, I smiled, I laughed and I felt my heart warming through the whole book.

description

Lonely Molly just arrived at college in Alabama to finish her masters. Alone in life she’s used to solitude so she really doesn’t expect to fall in love.
And she especially doesn’t expect the receiving end of her love to be Romeo Prince, the sexy and all-star quarterback of their college.
And what she really didn’t expect? For him to be as broken and lonely and her.

description

Romeo is beautiful, rich, and popular and everyone knows he’ll be signed to play professionally. What everyone doesn’t know is that his parents keep ruining him and his life and although he’s surrounded of people who worship him, he’s alone in the world most of the time.
So when sweet, innocent and British Molly, who doesn’t know a thing about football and is as alone as himself, he can’t help but following in love.
They are both searching for somewhere to belong, and they find out that maybe they’re each other’s home.

description

But when his parents start to interfere, crazy ex-girlfriend enter the picture, their pasts and everyone around them (including the media) are lurking in every corner, they find their path to happiness, can be rougher than they ever thought.

Rating: 5 Stars.
Characters Development: I loved them both. Loved them individually, because Molly was so strong and yet, sweet and Rome was also all these things. Although slightly broken, he was a loyal and passionate hero that gave everything he had. I loved him.
This book also had an amazing group pf supportive characters, some of them, I can’t wait to hear their stories!

My Review of SWEET HOME by Tilly Cole

1.5 stars, and that is for the beginning and the end.

Oops, I did it again – I fell for the hype, that is.

Why oh why are there so many freaking 5 Star reviews for this???? I can only think that a lot of female readers get a whiff of what they are told is an Alpha Male and their brains cease to function correctly.

ROME IS NOT AN ALPHA MALE. NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE

I actually liked the character of Rome up until about 25-30%, and later from about 75%.

The story is about English 20 year old Molly Shakespeare from the North of England and Romeo Prince from Alabama, in America’s South.

Molly goes to Alabama to the college where Rome Prince is the star quarterback of the college football team. Whatever.

Molly annoys the hell out of me from the beginning, when she first meets the male MC. He introduces himself as Rome. Later, she finds out his name is actually Romeo, but he tells her that he doesn’t like Romeo, (he has good reason, we later find out why, it’s to do with his crappy parents) yet Molly CONTINUALLY calls him and refers to him as ROMEO??? WHY???

I can only think that the Author wanted to continually remind us of the Romeo and Juliette connection she was trying so hard to push, and thought that we might otherwise forget if he was referred to as Rome. *Massive eye roll*

There are so many things wrong with this story, for example, the accents??? Everyone (except Molly of course) speaks in exactly the same way that I am supposed to believe is a Southern drawl, dropping the ‘g’ of every word ending in ‘ing’ and other examples that really got on my nerves SO much after about 20%. However, our Molly, who don’t forget is from the North of England, appears to have no accent at all.

OH COME ON!!! You can’t do an accent for every one else and not the other MC!!! Or are we supposed to believe that Molly speaks in that fake British posh accent that is overused in every American sitcom/teen drama/kids programme (with the exception of Frasier and the character of Daphne Moon – which is actually similar to how Molly would have sounded)

Given that a) She was bought up in the North of England and b) She was in the care system, foster care etc, there is no freaking way she would speak with anything other than a strong Northern twang, but not a mention of this.

I personally think it is better to stay away from attempting to write accents, preferring the Author to say (they all spoke with a deep Southern twang) and maybe give one example, then I can put the rest together in my head.

Apart from that, the characters all lacked any real depth.

Show, don’t tell

The Author seemed to forget this rule completely. During or after a scene, Molly would TELL you that Rome was angry/moody/aggressive/possessive etc but when I read the scene back, I just didn’t get it??? And when you did realise he was any of these things, it didn’t make sense then either because it would come out of the blue with no reason????

It would appear the Author was trying too hard to make Rome an Alpha Male, and a young (wannabe) Dominant. Instead, he just came across as a spoilt little dipshit, which in itself made absolutely no sense at all because he definitely wasn’t a spoilt child, if anything he was neglected/abused.

The character representation of the side characters didn’t fair any better, with Rome’s parents coming across as though they were starring in an evil parody!! Seriously, I nominate Cruella DeVille for Rome’s ridiculous mother!!

“Rome faced his parents. “You’re the worst fuckin’ people I’ve ever known. I’m your only son and you cant stand me, have ever even loved me? Ever just once felt anything for me?”
Mr and Mrs prince looked at each other and cracked up, their cackles echoing around the grand room. I was convinced I’d just witnessed the personification of pure evil.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
That’s just one example. There are many more, but I cant be bothered to go into detail. The scenes between Molly and Mrs Prince later in the book are farcical.

The sex scenes. Get a bucket ready. For a start, Molly lets Rome have sex with her without a condom, because she’s on the pill Did no-one tell these two about STI’s??? Good God. This, I have noticed, is a growing trend in NA/YA novels.

Listen up, and listen good – PROTECT YOURSELVES,!! Don’t take any chances with your health, if he or neither of you want to use a condom, insist you both get tested first. It’s only fair and the correct thing to do to keep both of you safe. *Preaching over*

It has been said that these scenes are what might possibly be the reasons for the 5 Stars, but I can’t see why. Molly is relatively inexperienced – just one sexual experience that was apparently not much of one (yawn) whilst of course Rome is the stereotypical man whore who has shed loads of experience.

All he does is treat her badly in the sex scenes, roughly, making her say particular things as he takes her “rough and hard”. He hardly ever makes love to her, treats her gently, or shows her affection during sex,

“He fucks me like he hates me. . .”

Yea, real romantic that, such a sweetheart. A real keeper, this one. And. . .

"Romeo regained his lust laden expression and leaned in towards me, “We’re goin’ to the cabin. I’m gonna strip you down and you’re gonna do everythin’ I say, until neither of us cant stand. You get me?”

Well, not too bad, except that at this point Molly

Again, I think this was the Author trying to inject the D/s element into the story. Whatever.

Rome does redeem himself towards the last 20%, and the ending is actually really quite good. It has one of the best dialogues Ive read in a long time, just before his big football game,

“Hey, Mol.”
“Hey, you”
“You gonna give up that sweet kiss?”
“If that’s what you want”
“It most definitely fuckin is”

Okay, maybe you have to be there, in the moment, but it is lovely.

All in all though I was very disappointed with this one. I got really bored by 50% and almost DNF.

Will I ever find my Alpha Male worthy of multi stars?? My search continues . . . .

"Sweet Home" is sort of a modern day twist on the old tale of "Romeo & Juliet". Molly Juliet Shakespeare, is completing her Masters in Philosophy at The University of Alabama. She recently transferred from Oxford University in England and is also acting as a Research & Teacher's assistant to one of her Professors who has come to the University of Alabama as well. Molly has a past that is filled with so much heartbreak and is basically an orphan. When things get too rough for her, she runs away from the situation.

Romeo Prince, it a senior at the University of Alabama and he is the Star Quarterback. He's known to have a bad boy reputation and he also has practically slept with most of the coeds on campus. He comes from old money and he also has a heartbreaking story.

 photo bcb1cfbd4e987381b134c96c66999173_zpsef031d63.jpg

When Molly and Rome meet there is an instant attraction and I have to say it was pretty much "insta-love". I know some times people hate when this happens in a story, but I think in some instances it is appropriate. In this story, I totally get how these two fell so hard, so fast. It happens some times. Two people just connect on a crazy level.
These two were made to love each other.

I adored Molly. She was the cute and nerdy British girl who wore orange crocs to class. Any girl who can rock a pair of crocs and not give a damn about what other people think, is pretty fabulous to me. I really felt for this poor girl. I can't even imagine losing everyone I loved and moving to a different country where I didn't have any family or friends. She was definitely a brave girl. Some times a little too naive, but all around a very lovable heroine.

Rome was a smokin' HOT, Alpha Male Football Quarterback!
I was hooked the moment these two ran into each other outside class, and won over when they first kiss during a Sorority Pledge hazing. His home life has been pretty atrocious. I can't even begin to describe how disgusting his parents were. They were so evil at times I thought it was just a bit over the top. But as I read on, I understood why the author wrote the story this way.

Not only is Rome the Star Quarterback, and the object of every girls'desire, he is also what I would call a Dominant. Now he's not a hardcore Dom, but he definitely makes sure he is the one in control when having sex. I had issues with this in the beginning. I am not a prude or against BDSM. I actually love reading BDSM stories. I would go so far as to say I'd even try some of it out. BUT, I thought it was quite odd to have this in the story. I really felt it didn't fit. As I read on, and learned about Rome's childhood and why his parents were always so evil to him, I understood his need for Control when it came to sex.

Rome and Molly will face obstacles.
Of course, you know they are not going to have an HEA early on in the story.
There is bound to be a thing or two that will threaten their relationship.
Some things had me screaming, and there were times I was close to tears.
I have to say I really just wanted Rome's mom to die a horrible death.

The sexy times, well hell, they were INCREDIBLY HOT!!!
It's why I've added Rome to my Top Fantasy Book Boyfriends list.
I mean this guy knows what he is doing and his Dom like behavior may have caused a few panty soaking moments.

I really enjoyed the book and at first I was going to rate this a 4, but towards the end, Rome just had my heart melting and so I went and changed it to a 4.5!!

"For never was a truer story of love conquering woe than this of Molly Juliet and her Romeo."

I loved how it ended and am off to start "SWEET ROME" now!!

The amount of total L-O-V-E I have for this book is just crazy.... This one just hit all my spots in all the right places at just the right time.. You know how it is.. sometimes you're in the mood for some sweet NA with some good steam and when you get your hands on the perfect one it's like...

Well yep, that was Sweet Home.. Not only do we get the uber sexy sin on a stick quarterback Romeo, aka Rome, we also get some good ole SEC Football ( Roll Tide), a quirky braineack that doesnt know her own sex appeal, a college campus setting, and a heart warming True LOVE story..

First let's feast our eyes on AMAZEBALLS Romeo Prince.. Starting QB for the Alabama Crimson Tide ( Roll Tide) ( side note.. if you live in the deep south.. pointing to self, and LOVE SEC football..still pointing to self.. Roll Tide just comes out whenever you talk Bama football. Thats just the way it is. Roll Tide) ANYWAYSSSSSS.... Romeo.. yep, so so sooooo sexy. Godlike on the football field. Senior. Destined for greatness in the NFL. Chicks love him and he has no short supply of all types of hoochie mama's wanting to drop their panties for Rome. He's seriously got it going on HARD.

Rome...

Then we've got sweet Molly.. so cute and soooo smart! She's also sexy but she hides it well behind her sexy librarian glasses and hair buns. She's from England but traveled all the way to Alabama to assist her philosophy professor for one year. She's got some really cool roomies though that are determined to break her out of her shell and show her what college life is all about... parties, sororities, gettin naked, and generally how to have a blast.

Molly...

Rome and Mol crash into each other in the hall on the way to class and of course it's insta chemistry.. Molly is a little tongue tied and Rome is ALOT interested. What intrests him the most though.. is that this beautiful girl doesn't seem to have a freaking clue who he is. He's used to girls fawning all over him.. especially one skank ho bitch that seriously will NOT leave him alone ( I want to cut this bitch). But Molly wants to avoid him if at all possible. He give her all kinds of tingles and she's not looking for tingles.... See, Molly's got some serious heartache inside. She's lived a tough life and has experienced some great sadness in her life. She doesn't open up to anyone and she likes it that way. Then Rome.. Rome may seem to have it all on the outside but his family life is total shit. He's got some of the shitiest parents totally everrrrr. Like ever and ever. They really suck. Total suck monkey ass suck. Yes. They suck.

ANYWAY.. What when Rome decides that someone like Molly is just what he needs, he goes after her. Sweet Mol really never stood a chance. But Rome shows her a side that no one else sees. For some reason he feels like he can really open up to her and Molly feels the same. They have a connection.. a once in a lifetime connection...

But the road isn't easy for them...With a vendictive wanna be girlfriend, evil parents, and tragedy along the way.. things get rough. Really rough.... But this is a love so strong ...built from the ground up.
Yep, we get a seriously amazing story and a sweet HEA... but it's the journey for them that will pull you in. I was so wrapped up in Romeo and Molly that I hated for their story to end. So so good.

Don't let this one pass you up!!

ROMEO PRINCE...

description

MOLLY SHAKESPEARE...

description

I felt that I have read this type of story on more than one occasion but I really really liked it anyway.

Romeo had me from the start and Molly is a real likable heroine. There’s CRAZY parents, one very EVIL ex, quirky friends, and even though this story had the instant love element it worked.

I have a thing for broken guys who know what they want. Romeo is very yummy and his love notes and alphaness was irresistible!

description

The author delivered a heart stopping scene that showed this reader how thoroughly invested she was in this couple.

No cliffhanger.

I’m excited to read more and I’ll be one clicking the next book for sure!

Noooooooo I am so sad rn

Okay so I was hyped for this book and in the beginning I was like “yes finally a rich guy who’s not allowed to date the girl he loves but they fight through it all to be together”

But it wasn’t.
Okay so honestly the plot was good but it was the most fast paced time jumping book ever. I just wish we had a bit less plot and maybe focused more on the connection between the two bc it wasn’t built up like I expected it to be.
Also: he had anger issues and needs to get some help bc he’s walking around like a ticking time bomb and I would be scared as his girlfriend.

Also that ending plottwist was predictable and ngl very average and also yet again too fast paced.
And it’s not the shortest book like?

Tw for this book: physical assault, verbal assault, miscarriage, suicide, cancer

That was a sweet and touching love story between two damaged souls. Life has taken a lot from them and these two lonely souls find salvation in each other. It was an OK read for me, good but not good enough.

“We held on to each other as if we were one another’s lifeline.”

They are college students. The hero also plays football and he is the star quarterback of Alabama. The heroine is British whereas the hero is American.

Their story is emotional and heart-warming but definitely not hot enough. The mildly hot scenes didn’t appeal to me at all as I don’t like dom-sub relationship. Still, I understood why he needed control during sex, but that didn’t make me like it at all.

There are inconsistencies in my opinion as to character development. I sometimes questioned what they did or didn't do.

The heroine Molly Juliet Shakespeare has a very high IQ and has been very successful in her education so far but still she cannot use that IQ in matters of heart or relationship issues. That was weird. For example, if your boyfriend and his cousin tell you that his parents are evil and they are planning something bad for them when they invited them to dinner, you shouldn't be so naive and believe that showing them how happy you are together will change their mind. No need to be Pollyanna here, everything is so clear.

The hero Romeo (aka Rome) Prince is and he is aggressive when someone pisses him off and he is control freak in sex.

His mood changes were understandable but the way he speaks to Molly while talking about feelings suddenly changes when he wants sex and it was weird for me. I couldn't get used to the switch between emotional Rome, who begs her not to leave him and the controlling Rome, who tells her she can't do anything without asking permission. It sounded unreal and ridiculous to me.

As you may have already realized, they have the names of star-crossed lovers and Rome climbs to her room all the time. Again... weird stuff for me and unnecessary?!

The parents in the book are pure evil. I wish they were punished for what they did but I wasn’t happy with the result at all.

Writing:

The book is written by 1st person point of view (by the heroine only). That was another thing I disliked. I needed to know what was in the hero’s mind most of the time.

Now, Book 1,5 tells their love story from the hero’s point of view. I don’t feel like reading the same events now told by the hero. It could easily have been one book told by dual point of view, what is the purpose of writing it this way? Publishing 2 books, I guess…

Well, I want to read the other books in the series so maybe I might have a quick & fast reading of Book 1,5 and then maybe write a longer review afterwards. This is all I want to say about Book 1 now.

5 'Romeo O' Romeo' Stars!

It only took Romeo one look at Juliet and his fate was sealed. Maybe I’m just like my namesake, and maybe you’re just like yours.

This book was an unexpected surprise! I was seeing this book on everyone's reading list and figured I'd give it a shot. I love when I immerse myself in a book that I don't have high expectations for and then end up falling in love with it! That's what Sweet Home was for me...a book that I fell absolutely in love with.

"One day, my sweet girl, some lucky man will come and help you understand the very meaning of love. He will sweep you off your feet and show you what it is to place your heart in someone else’s care, and to willingly offer them the gift of your soul."

Romeo and Molly. Romeo and Juliet. Both names of people that have a tragically beautiful love. Both tell the story of forces trying to consume their love. A love that was meant to be. A love that is beyond anything either could have ever hoped for.

“I don’t remember Romeo being this pushy with Juliet!”.....He arched his eyebrows meaningfully. “And look at how that worked out for them. My way is better—less death, more orgasms.”

Romeo Prince is the most desirable guy on campus. A guy that never commits to anyone. A guy that other guys are shit scared of and girls would gladly give a lung for. He has a broad chest, a deep southern drawl, long, dirty-blond hair, and is the quarterback for the Alabama Tides. Molly Shakespeare on the other hand is an English, painfully private introvert who has followed her professor to Alabama to be a teaching assistant. Both Romeo and Molly are in the wrong place at the right time when their worlds collide.

"Why does any human want anyone? My body recognizes you as something that’s good for me. My mind recognizes you as someone who’s right for me, and my soul recognizes you as someone who is meant for me."

Romeo and Molly soon begin a relationship that they are trying to keep secret from everyone. They both have troubled pasts and ghosts that would destroy their love if they let them. They are trying to keep it a secret from Romeo's abusive parents and Molly just doesn't want to be seen as another one of Romeo Prince's latest conquests. Unfortunately, secrets have a funny way of coming out and sometimes, no matter how hard they might try to prevent it, their love is destined to be filled with heartbreak.

Romeo..sigh! I loved Romeo Prince. He is everything that I love in a hero. He is hot, protective, possessive and just the total alpha male package. Yes, he can be secretive. Yes, he's bossy and dominating. But he's also damaged and vulnerable. I just absolutely adored him. Molly was an awesome heroine. She was the lovable nerd that has suffered immense grief in her past that we can all relate to. Fantastic set of characters!

When Romeo and Molly first meet they form an instant attraction. Romeo's long believed dead heart feels a pulse that he hasn't felt in years and Molly sees in Romeo the love that she's afraid to feel. Some people may think their relationship happens pretty fast, but I didn't feel that way. I loved the progression of their relationship, and swooned a good 50 percent of the novel.

There is so much more to this story than what I've said, but telling too much would be giving away spoilers that make this book so fantastic. This book isn't all roses and flowers. There is a good amount of sadness thrown in as well. LOVED IT! I have so many quotes for this book, I'm going to have to list some extras that I loved!

My Favorite Quotes:

"We would love each other more than anyone in the history of the world ever had."

"Romeo Prince was a human kaleidoscope. He fucked me like he hated me, but his adoration and love was never too far from the surface—and I couldn’t imagine him in any other way."

“Just so you know. I’m gonna take you again tonight. Addicted, Shakespeare. I’m fuckin’ addicted.”

"I sobbed out a cry and bit the nail of my thumb to hold back the screams. “Yes, I’m yours.”
Rome pulled my thumb into his hand. “You’re gonna make me crazy with that move, Mol. I’d rather put an object more satisfying there if you need somethin’ to play with.”

“I get so lonely that at times, I literally think it might kill me.”
Romeo licked his bottom lip anxiously and his eyes began to glisten. “Can I tell you somethin’?” I nodded shyly. He ran his finger down my cheek, but almost as if the action fuelled his strength rather than gave me comfort. “I’m desperately lonely, too.”

“Fateful star-crossed lovers?” He smiled again. It was almost a full smile I’d never seen from him before, so careless and free. “I think we need to stop quotin’ that damn play, Shakespeare. I feel like we’re the fucked-up rated-R version of Romeo and Juliet.”

The writing was amazing. The characters were well rounded, dagamed, and lovable. The story itself was romantic, passionate, and swoon-worthy! I loved this book and even though some of the topics have been used before, I fell in love with the story nonetheless.

"A home is not a place. It’s not a country or a town or a building or possession. Home is with the other half of your soul, the person who shares in your grief and helps you carry the burden of loss. Home is with the person who throughout it all never gives up on you and brings you eternal happiness."

OMGOMGOMG!

5 huge stars.

Why the hell did it take me so long to read this book? Gorgeous, manwhoring quarterback and an intelligent ‘good girl’, both slightly broken, but absolutely perfect for each other - it’s a story that’s been done before, but THIS book truly shines in a sea of NA books that have a similar set up. The writing is wonderful, the characters are amazing, and there is an engaging and heart-pounding love story that is funny, sweet, sexy and emotional with none of the pointless drama or annoying behaviour that you often find in college-based books. I had that tingly feeling (you know, the one that you get when you're reading something special) from start to finish, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic!

Molly Shakespeare has moved from England to Alabama as part of her college studies. She has had a hard life but has worked hard to get where she is and she is determined to achieve her dreams of a PhD and a career as a College professor. She is experiencing a whole new world in the US, and her acclimatisation to all things college is a great addition to the story. Romeo ‘Rome’ Prince is the superstar of college football and headed straight for the NFL. He seems to have it all, but as perfect as his life may appear on the surface, there is so much more to him than what he shows.

From the moment they see each other, the chemistry is apparent and their initial encounters are brimming with sexual tension. Of course, Molly has no idea of who he is or why he is such a big deal, and in a world where he is the constant target of groupies, Rome likes that, but while he is smitten from the very beginning, Molly is hesitant to get involved with the campus playboy. But he is determined to have her, and as the perfect combination of sweet, playful and sexy as all hell, there’s no way Molly can resist him.

“Don’t mistake yourself for one of the others, Mol. You’re much, much more. I’ll gladly convince anyone who thinks otherwise.”
“Why am
I more? I don’t get it.”
“You just are. You somehow give me peace in my completely fucked-up world. You get me; no one has before. It’s that simple.”

I love this relationship! They are truly gorgeous together - honest with each other and there is no game playing and the intensity that is between them develops into a soul-deep love that they both embrace whole-heartedly.

“My body recognises you as something that’s good for me. My mind recognises you as someone who’s right for me, and my soul recognises you as someone who is meant for me.”
A bashful smile ghosted his lips and his tense shoulders relaxed. “We’re in fuckin’ deep, aren’t we, Shakespeare?” he said in hushed tone, his body radiating a peaceful happiness.
A feeling of contentment settled over us both.
“I think that’s an understatement.”

Is there anything sexier than a guy in complete, open, proud and unapologetic love? Add in the fact that he used to be a moody, manwhoring bastard, and it’s like romance reader crack, and I lapped up every moment of it.

“I love you. I love you beyond anythin’ I could’ve ever imagine was possible.”

The swoony declarations are balanced perfectly with the rawness of their relationship. They are completely open to each other, and that translates into some seriously intense sexy time! Rome likes control in the bedroom, and he demonstrates that over and over again, and oh holy hell, it’s hot! And rounding out the sweet and sexy, and the intensity between Rome and Molly, there are lots of light moments which had me laughing out loud.

“I don’t remember Romeo being this pushy with Juliet!”
He arched his eyebrows meaningfully. “And look at how that worked out for them. My way is better— less death, more orgasms.”

But Rome is dealing with cruel and overbearing parents who have their own plans for his life, and Molly’s past continues to plague her. They may have each other, but they have a lot that they have to overcome in order to get their happy ending, and OMG, the feels! My heart broke for them both as the story played out, and though I read with tears streaming down my face at times, I really like the way the conflict was written into the story . I love the strength of their relationship through it all, and I thought that it was really well handled – minimally angsty yet incredibly emotional, and it’s all worth it for the incredible ending that had my heart pounding while I clutched my kindle with glee.

“We can’t erase the secrets and marred memories of our pasts, but we can build the next chapter of our lives together.”

The Shakespeare theme is incorporated in a way that is playful, yet sweet, and there is a great group of characters that add a lot to the story, and have me excited to carry on with the series.

I honestly loved EVERYTHING about this book. I am in so much love with it that I’m going straight on to Sweet Rome, which is essentially the same story told from Rome’s POV. I can’t get enough, and I’m eager to experience it all over again.

“Hey Mol.”
“Hey You.”
“You gonna give up that lucky sweet kiss?”
“If that's what you want.”
“It most definitely is.”

I absolutely loved it, an instant favourite – 5 stars.

A warm and fuzzy kind of read, it was kind of like how the ugly duckling meets her prince, falls in love and evolves into a beautiful swan, a modern re-telling of Romeo and Juliet..

THE COLLEGE BAD BOY

I loved how this book turned me into a gushing teenager laying claim to her Romeo and his climbing up the bannister to the love of his life Juliet..

"What you findin' so funny, Shakespeare?"
"That Romeo has come to my balcony to strive for my attention."
"The Orchard walls are high and hard to climb, and the place death, considering who thou art, if any of my kinsmen find thee here..They will murder thee."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I loved how as soon as I started reading this I was lost within the pages of make believe, a hardcore bad boy with a wicked stepmother and father, a Cinderella fairy tale of rags to the riches of being in love..

It only took Romeo one look at Juliet and his fate was sealed. Maybe I'm just like my namesake, and maybe you're just like yours.

Full of angst, A girl that's always on the run, emotional turmoil, alpha male and beautiful heartfelt sexy moments..

Romeo

"broad chest, deep southern drawl, long, dirty-blond hair, quarter back with official stats - 6 ft 3, 235 pounds of solid muscle"

Is the reason you need to read this book!

 photo f12a5f731b1f8ae2391ddacff5e9ca27.jpg

And Molly, our English Rose who followed her professor for her Masters!

 photo 26468c274064a42155eae5453b421b4f.jpg

One fine day, Molly runs into Romeo and they instantly have a connection. The story continues with them both spending time more and eventually falling in love (which was wee bit too fast for me). But heck, Rome was one fine hot specimen, he definitely brings butterflies to your stomach! Plus he likes to control.....

"You go in front alone; I'll come in from the balcony. And be quick, baby. I mean it, Don't test my right now"

 photo heart-beating.gif

Unfortunately when it is book came to 72%, I totally got annoyed with the predictable and cheesy drama happening. From the part, I kinda lose interest, hence that's speaks why it is either 3.5 stars or 4 stars! Still can't decide!

Well, if you are looking for a sports man read, pick Rome up! He will never disappoint you!

And that's me being generous..

For the people who've rated it 5 stars.. You should be BANNED from rating on good reads and your opinions are now invalid.

The only reason it got such high ratings is because of the steamy scenes, which frankly, were nothing special.
I think the main problem with this book is that they act like they know each other and are in love when they've only met, like, TWICE! WTF!!! I'll tell you now, that immediately got me worried that I wasted £1.99 on on an insta-love romance that quite frankly wasn't believable at all. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of love at first sight, I'm not a pessimist, but I expect them to have a build up of a relationship. NOT act like your already in a relationship when you've only said a few words to each other! *RANTING*

I'm not going to write a very long review on this book because there's not really that much to say to be honest.. I was thoroughly disappointed considering the ratings and reviews, and no I didn't big it up too much and that's why I'm let down. It really just was a book that seemed like it was written by a woman who was just writing her perfect love-fantasy-boyfriend which, yes, every girl wants, but it was just unbelievable.
I get that the book was trying to show how the couples damaged past was effecting their relationship and the consequence of how they are now and the whole dominating/submissive relationship but I just wish the girl wouldn't take his shit all the time. I get he's had a bad past and has anger problems, but seriously! He got angry over nothing and she ended up apologising for nothing!
E.g..
Their at a club and one of the girls he's slept with were serving them and making comments and ended with her saying that his girlfriend was a skank basically and that his standards have dropped. She gets shitty and walks off to have him follow and have a go at her! With her then calming down after and saying she overreacted and blah blah blah.
I mean SERIOUSLY?! Please tell me other girls aren't actually like this! It's embarrassing! I would like to think that the majority of us girls don't get so manipulated..

Also, I found the parents WAY over the top. I get their the villains of this book.
But tone it down a notch! I just thought it was way over the top.. What they did just isn't even worth talking about. The scenarios were really that ridiculous.

Apart from all that.. It was an easy read. If you want an unrealistic romance that overcomes evil and manages to overcome all the devastation, and hot guy who just so happens to be rich, (because that never happens) who falls for a geeky and unpopular girl (shocker), with some sexy scenes then I'd recommend this book for you.
If your like me and prefer your female characters to have some balls, then I'd put off reading this for when you want to have an easy read with a fairytale love.

And on my last note, I'm going to part with saying that her best mate cass should of been a bigger part of the book as she was just awesome and ballsy and her sex sounds much better!

(notice that I have not mentioned the two main characters names. I have just finished the book and I can't remember. Only the best friends! Something's wrong with that)
