Shifter story done right
I’ve always said that a shifter story should always be dual virgins. IMO, it only makes sense for them to be only with their mate. That was the case with this story. They were only attracted to their mate! I did find it kinda odd that he constantly referred to her as “female” or “mate” instead of her name or a pet name. Made it seem feel impersonal
-no cheating
-no ow/om drama whatsoever
-no pushing away
-dual virgin
-no violence
-steam was plentiful. Mostly just long scenes of dirty talking and talking her what he was going to do and asking her if she wanted it
-safe- no others after meeting
-epilogues only 4 weeks and 8 months out

Was looking forward to a light and hot fated mates romance novella, but this one didn't really work for me. Him calling her 'his female' repeatedly had me frowning for some reason, and I didn't find myself drawn in.
I really did enjoy one of the other books in the series so will try another one.

Penny and Kasias
This is a steamy, short romp. Penny has been in need of her mate for a bit, but unable to find him. Kasias shows up and all bets are off. It’s a super quick read and Kasias doesn’t really say much during the whole story. HEA.

Jenika Snow did a great job on this story, Her Primal Mate had a strong plot that had many emotions, the story was written well. Penny and Kasias were strong characters, their journey had it's bumps but they made a strong pair. The connection, their bond was instant, it was strong. The chemistry between them was off the charts, it was sexy and steamy, they were great together.
Kasias would have done anything for his mate.
I enjoyed this story, it was great.

Pretty fast pace and some steamy moments and shifters!!!
This one i had trouble connecting with due to the fact both kept calling eachother mates/female/male once and awhile their name. But it was alot of "cum my mate" "mate " and more mate that kinda made me go meh with it.
Beside that penny is new in town working at a bar and shes in her heat wishing wanting her mates fate. And she does meet him when she's working when she smells kasias when he enters a Polar bear shifter. Its love at first site and they already moving from 0 to 1000!!
Up in his cabin they are enjoying their mating time. it's pretty much that ;) so lots of getting to know one another.

Fated mates
Instant attraction of fated mates. Penny's first day of working at the bar and Kasias comes in and they knew they were meant for each other. The rest of the book was pretty much all sex. It would been nice to have some type of plot.

Penny and Kasias these two knew they were meant for one another from the start. Their story was fast pace with such an intense connection that will heat up the pages. A great story with two amazing characters that are so meant for one another. You will definitely enjoy this one!

Book 1 in the multi author Badlands Territory series and what a great start. Quick, fast paced steamy read from Jenika Snow that will have you fanning yourself by the time you finished this book. The pull between Penny and Kasias was intense. From the moment they saw each other, they knew they were mates and once they got together, that was it. No one would be able to separate them. Great read from start to finish.

Commentary: Dialogue was odd - lots of "my mate" and "female" instead of proper names. I don't mind nicknames - love them, sometimes - but this was more like generic labeling. That made it a three-star where more often, this author is at least a four-star for me.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Penny and Kasias. Penny is determined to save herself for her mate. So she knows she won't find him in the town she lives in with her parents so she starts travelling. When she comes to the badlands territory she has not intentions on stopping but something urges her to anyway. So she rents a little 1 bedroom place and gets a job at the local bar. she can smell who is human and who is not. She doesn't have any intentions on being with anyone but her mate and she knows when to get the guys to back off. That is until he comes into the bar. Kasias liquor content is low not really low enough that he had to go that night but something just kept pulling him to town. See Kasias is a loner no one really knows much about him and he would prefer to keep it that way. But one whiff of someone he knew he would always crave has him heading straight towards her and no one better get in his way. Will these two find the beginning of a HEA or is there more at play here then either of them know?
This is another amazing story by this author. The characters really draw you in and don't let go until the very end. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short and steamy fated mate story. Penny has always dreamed about having a mate but did not believe that it would happen. The first night at her new waitressing job, her heat hits her. Kasias has been drawn towards the town and is not sure why until he gets a sniff of something great. She is a lynx and he is a polar bear, but they seem to fit just fine. As the heat takes over the effect on them both is instinct. Although I enjoyed the book, this is not one of my favorites. It seemed that they really did not seem as connected as people, just as mates. The premise is that a fated mate is perfect for you. I just wished that it was more perfect outside the bedroom at times. I will continue reading the series to see what else happens in the Badlands

I'm normally all for the sexy-times in my romance, but this one was a bit OTT for my taste. I get that fated mates are generally known for their endless romps, but about 80% of this was one, long, drawn out, REPETITIVE, sex scene. Four chapters into their first encounter I was thinking "Just DO IT already!!" But no, he needed to declare her "MINE" another half dozen times first, and then BAM, it's a month later and she's pregnant. Then it's epilogue, another epilogue (no baby yet) and done. Can I have a little more story please?

I couldn't put this story down. This is book 1 of a 6 book multiauthor collaboration. It takes us to the Badlands Territory where shifters live alongside humans. They are all looking for their mates. Penny left home to travel and find herself. She realizes that she doesn't want to leave this area. She is drawn to it. Her first heat hits her on her first night at her job. She knows it's going to be rough but has no other choice than to work. She knows that her mate has shown up instantly. Kasias doesn't do crowds but something drew him to the bar that night. He is surprised to discover his mate. Can he get her through her first heat?

When your animal side finds its mate your human side goes along for the ride. That’s exactly what happens when Penny and Kasias scent each other. They didn’t know each other from Adam but when you’re Fated mates that’s all she wrote. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and the sexy times were very thrilling and exciting. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!!

Wow! That was intense.
Ok, we knew this was one of a collection of shorts, but this felt like one long, long sex scene.
While I enjoyed the story and it started out really hot, it just went in and on..the dialogue didn’t really change so there was a lot of repeat phrasing. I mean, he’s an Alpha, 👍, he’s possessive 👍, he’s so turned in finding his mate he can’t think straight👍..but I swear, by the time you get to 60% (if not sooner) it it he book, he was sounding more creepy than Alpha. By the end, it was less hot and more Ugh! And..how did we not get a scene with him doing the claiming bite..or a birthing scene so we can know the sex if the baby.
Any who, as a short read it was ok, good even, I just wish there was more substance even for a quick read.

I didn't know what I was going to expect when I started reading this book. My oh my, the hotness overload coming off these pages was off the chart! Penny, an Iberian lynx shifter, has moved to a new town and started a new job at a bar when she goes into heat. Kaisas, a polar bear shifter, finds himself at the same bar as Penny and doesn't know why until he can smell his mate. Follow Kaisas and Penny as their relationship gets hot so fast they will leave readers in their dust. Loved the hotness of Kaisas and Penny. He is a strong man who knows what he wants in Peggy and takes her. Penny knows what she wants also and welcomes Kaises into her life.

Talk about steamy! Kasias was a polar bear shifter who was known as a recluse because he hardly gave anyone the time of day too intent on waiting to give his all to his mate. Penny is working her new job at the diner after moving to a new town. Her heat hits her but she tries to push through it. Drawn by forces unknown Kasias stops in the diner and smells Penny and it becomes his sole obsession to take his mate back home and claim her. Overall a great book but I do wish there was another epilogue besides just the 8 month out one. However, was nice that this book was dual virgins!

This is a fated mates shifter romance. It’s very well written and has a happy ever after ending. It’s very very steamy and those scenes are full of love and chemistry. Penny is a virgin in her first mating heat, only problem is she doesn’t have a mate......until he walks through the door of the bar she’s working at. Kasius is the biggest male she has ever seen, and he knows as soon as he scents her that penny is his mate.

Okay so I have to say first I always love a good shifter love story. And this new shifter world is unique and fun to read. I think the only thing I didn’t like so much is that 3/4 of this book is sex! Some people may say I’m crazy! But I just wanted more story I guess. Overall still a great book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This book was so HOT that I singed my fingers on my Kindle! Not even joking. “Her Primal Mate” is a quick and smutty, InstaMate read! I absolutely loved it!
It’s no secret that I adore shifter romances and this one is a fantastic. Kasias is a polar bear shifter and a bit of a recluse. He is as huge and imposing as his animal namesake and when faced with his mate becomes a possessive and territorial beast. Penny is an Iberian lynx shifter, her feline half is calm and serene until she she gets a whiff of her mate’s scent.
Watching these two fated mates get together is a hot and sexy read. I couldn’t get enough of hearing Kasias growl the word mine and mate and seriously needed to fan myself a couple of times when he did! TBR Her Primal Mate and Enjoy!
