I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short and steamy fated mate story. Penny has always dreamed about having a mate but did not believe that it would happen. The first night at her new waitressing job, her heat hits her. Kasias has been drawn towards the town and is not sure why until he gets a sniff of something great. She is a lynx and he is a polar bear, but they seem to fit just fine. As the heat takes over the effect on them both is instinct. Although I enjoyed the book, this is not one of my favorites. It seemed that they really did not seem as connected as people, just as mates. The premise is that a fated mate is perfect for you. I just wished that it was more perfect outside the bedroom at times. I will continue reading the series to see what else happens in the Badlands
