I can't make it through this book - I hate the basically sexual assault at the beginning. Is it worth it to push through? Is the rest of the series worth it? Can I just skip to another book?

Caryn IMO, there is no reason to read a book that makes you uncomfortable. There are lots of other paranormal romance novels out there that do not have sexual assault themes that are great fun to read. I would suggest J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood or Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series.
