This certainly isn’t the worst book I’ve ever read but I think something got lost in the translation from Polish to English - there’s lots of repetition, among other issues!
I won’t repeat the synopsis but I felt the relationship between Laura and Massimo was rushed, and the constant use of the phrase “baby girl” was a little irritating. This is a totally escapist bit of reading if you don’t mind the troublesome non-con aspects of the story. The ending didn’t bother me but be warned: it’s a cliffhanger!

“I was thinking I could lock the doors and hide you here, making you come into eternity, never to be seen by the world again. By no one, Gabrielle. I do not know how much longer I can pull softly.”
I enjoyed this very different book by a new-to-me author. The story is quite unique: Gabrielle has a 5 year old son but she has no memory of being pregnant or who the father might be. The mysterious Daniel Baird, who seems to enter her life quite suddenly, might or might not be the father. But Bree has no way of knowing for sure.
What she does know is that this powerful and aloof man works his way into her life and into her very close circle of life-long friends. She thought her life was well-ordered and perfect until Daniel appears. She owns her own design firm and lives happily in New York City.
"Twenty-five years. Twenty-five years of order and control. Discipline, responsibility; planned out and risk free. Except for the months I can’t remember, this describes my life."
But Daniel brings back unsettling memories. Is he Tristan's father? This book is at turns sexy, poignant, thrilling and funny. The author has an incredible talent for story-telling and I would love to read what she comes up with next.
"Although I’d never to my knowledge met Daniel Baird before this weekend in my life, I recognized that smile completely, wholly, and with every fiber of my being. It was the face of my son."
This is a long and juicy read, and the cast of supporting characters could have each had their own novella! They are all fiercely protective of Bree and Tristan and I honestly did not know whether to not Daniel had good intentions towards this woman and her young son.
“You really don’t remember me, do you?” Daniel whispered into my ear. I spun, mouth agape, and we practically touched noses.
The last part of the book gives the reader insight into what really happened to Bree all those years ago. This book rambled a bit in some parts and could use a healthy does of editing but the story and the characters kept be reading well into the night. 'In the Land of Milk of Honey' is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the romance genre and for you ardent fans of 'Twilight', this story began its life as a fan fiction. But it stands on its own as a enthralling and sexy romance with a mystery at its core.

Dark and beautiful and gritty!! Loved it.
Crux is the sixth book in the Hades Hangmen series. I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled at the dark, MFM themes in this book. Although part of a series, I have not read all of the books and I was more than able to follow all of the characters and fully enjoy the story.
Sia is the sister of Ky. Valan ("Hush") and Aubin ("Cowboy") are two members of the Club who are charged with protecting Sia from her former captor from Mexico. She escaped from her former boyfriend back to Texas, and suffers from horrible PTSD from her ordeal.
"It was ironic: when I was a teen, I made a vow to leave Austin and stop all contact with the Hangmen. Then, one escape... That’s all it took to make me wish I’d never set foot outta Texas. Never cut all ties with the Hangmen. And one man... One man, named Garcia, to make me long for the lazy Texas days and the sound of horses’ hooves padding on the grass outside of my old bedroom window."
Hush and Cowboy are COMPLETELY off limits to her but of course, the heart wants what the heart wants, and nothing, not even the wrath of her brother, can keep Sia from Hush and Cowboy. I was fascinated by these two and their history together! Their stories broke my heart. I have all the admiration for Tillie Cole for tackling the tough themes of racism and prejudice in such a readable way.
"Was my heart designed to allow only one in? But as I lay there, kissing both these men that’d so captured my soul, I realized that a heart is infinite. Love can expand and expand. My heart could hold as much as I was willing to let in."
This was a wild, sexy, gritty and violent story that in the end, was beautiful and uplifting. 'Crux Untamed' is definitely one of my favorite Tillie Cole books. The pain and suffering endured by Cowboy and Hush was absolutely hearbreaking but they were able to find love and acceptance and peace in their own way. And let's face it, their scenes with Sia were OFF THE CHARTS!! I was overjoyed that the three of them were able to find joy with their own brand of "normal."

Can Brianna Hale do no wrong? I never thought I’d fall in love with an East German Stasi officer but there you have it. Volker and Evony’s story was completely captivating.
This book completely drew me in and I could not get enough of the setting and the characters. Let's clear things up - this is NOT the story of a Nazi nor does it in any way, shape or form glorify the Nazi regime. With that said, it is without a doubt a dark romance, set in the bleak world of 1960's East Berlin.
Evony and her father are planning an escape to the West but their plans are thwarted and she is captured by Volker, a high-ranking member of the East German secret police. He is cold, brilliant and calculating, and has no plans to let Evony go. Ever.
She goes to work for him as a secretary but is constantly planning her escape. Volker is revered and respected by all. His plans for Evony are slowly revealed and the tension and chemistry between them practically jumps off the page.
I am not usually a fan of historical fiction but I loved this book. The author did her research and it shows. The details of everyday life in East Berlin were fascinating. As was the growing relationship and mutual respect between Evony and Volker. What secrets is Volker keeping from Evony? And will he send her to prison when he learns the truth about her?
"Loving Reinhardt means staying here forever, and doing so would eventually drive such poison into my heart that any shred of happiness I might find in his arms would be destroyed."
This book has thrills, incredible chemistry, and a fascinating story line. I can always count on Brianna Hale to entertain, educate and enthrall me! I never thought I'd love a book about Cold War-era Germany but there you have it. Volker is another unforgettable, uber-protective and sexy character. Highly recommend this one!

Beautiful and poignant yet very violent spin-off from the Nine Minutes series. Lots of unexpected twists and turns!
I loved the storyline and the originality of the plot. Even though I was familiar with Anthony Bear and Christy from the Nine Minutes series, this book really explored their relationship and Anthony's early life.
I could not WAIT for this book to come out since Beth Flynn is a very special and talented writer. The Nine Minutes Series is one of my all-time FAVORITE biker romances and I recommend it to anyone who will listen!
Anthony is a fighter. Faced with racism from a young age, he clawed his way to the top and created one of the most feared and most successful illegal businesses on the West Coast of Florida. He is Boss. When a large debt is owed to him, he sets out to collect.
He kidnaps the daughter of the man who owes him, but Christy Chapman is not at all what he expected. Anthony has preconceived notions about her which turn out to be all wrong.
Christy judged Anthony at first, too. Not quite the pampered heiress that Anthony thought she was, they both surprise each other along the way.
Although I finished this book, it was a little slow going for me at times. The third-person voice prevented me from really connecting with these characters. That being said, this was an incredibly inventive story and as always, I ADORE the Florida setting of Beth Flynn's books. The colorful characters and unflinching violence add to the genuine feel of the plot. I hope that there are more books planned for the Beth Flynn's cast of characters because I will be first in line to read her next book!

This is definitely a case of it's not you, it's me. So many readers adore this story!! And I am a HUGE fan of Pepper Winters. First of all, this cover is absolutely stunning. I would read this book based on the cover alone. And I love the chemistry between the two MC's in this story. And as usual, Pepper creates a strong-willed, kick-ass heroine who is smart, driven and beautiful.
The story is promising: Elle is assaulted as a young teenager by a gang of thugs in New York and is rescued by a mysterious stranger. Sadly, she never sees his face and can't help him as he is carted off by the police that night. But she never forgets the man who saved her life and with whom she spent a few very memorable hours.
Fast forward years later and Elle is the head of a large retail company. She is single but her father tries to fix her up with nearly every eligible bachelor he meets. But when Elle and Penn meet, she is taken by his dark good looks and dominating personality.
Fierce eyebrows gave expression and authority to the intensity of his dark brown eyes. Dark hair bordering on black curled around his cheeks, forehead, and ears, speaking of wildness rather than tamed. His strong nose and refined cheekbones were perfect adornments to the beard bordering his lips.
Penn is dangerous, for sure, but nevertheless alluring to the sheltered Elle. She hasn't had much real-world experience and she finds Penn incredibly sexy.
I narrowed my eyes. “What do you want from me?” He smiled, his mouth once again bewitching me. “Not sure yet.”
Who is Penn? Can he be trusted? He quite literally sweeps Elle off her feet. Set against the backdrop of New York City, this darkly sexy story is classic Pepper Winters. Everyone has secrets and nothing is at it seems.
Pulling away, he rested his forehead on mine, a roguish smile replacing his grimace. “I’m not letting you go. I’ve only just found you.”
Some of the plot points of the story fell a little flat for me and took me out of the story. Other readers seem to overlook these issues so if you are a fan of dark romance, then give this one a go! Although this story ends with a cliffhanger, the next book should be coming out soon and I am curious to see where these characters end up.

The second book of the Endgame series begins right were 'The Pawn' ended. Avery has really hit rock bottom. She is living in a rundown motel and has lost everything. But she is determined to get back what is precious to her and 'The Knight' is another deliciously dark romance that features some great characters and writing.
Gabriel really cares for Avery. He is outwardly cruel but their scenes together are everything I love about Skye Warren's writing. He was almost brutally cruel in the first book but here, he seems to finally show his true feelings. But Avery wants nothing more then to get revenge on the man she believes led to her father's downfall. Make no mistake, Gabriel Miller is still a harsh and brutal figure, and he still remains mysterious.
I love the supporting characters in this book and would love to read more about Avery's mother! The circumstances surrounding her death become more and more mysterious and I hope that the third book in this series tells more of her story. 'The Knight' ends on a surprising note and I can't wait to read 'The Castle,' the third book in this series.
Skye Warren once again delivers the goods in this story. This series is dark, very sensual and dangerous. Highly recommend these books for all lovers of dark and sexy romance....more

He runs the beast through with a sword and then retraces his steps using the string, thus saving all the sacrifices that year and in the future. I’ve reached the center of the maze. I’m facing my very own Minotaur.
Skye Warren is one of my go-to dark romance authors. Her books never fail to enthrall, entertain and excite. 'The Pawn' is trademark Skye Warren: a sheltered, innocent young woman, smart but faced with almost insurmountable odds against her, and a dark hero, who seems unbearably cruel but who might just have a soft side.
Avery's whole world has collapsed and she faces loses her family's home. Her father is dying and she has nowhere to turn. She agrees to an auction, which goes against everything she believes in. Enter Gabriel Miller, dangerous, handsome and ruthless. Even though he was the cause of her family's downfall, can he possibly be her savior?
He steps back with a quiet laugh. “You can run away, little virgin. But you’ll come back.” I’m very afraid he’s right.
Avery is afraid to trust Gabriel but she has nowhere else to turn. Gabriel turns out to be sensual and protective but even more mysterious than Avery first thought. He is her father's enemy but he can't stay away from Avery.
“What am I then?” “You’re innocent. And I’m going to ruin you.” The certainty in his voice chills me.
I devoured this dark and sexy book in one sitting. Skye Warren is the BEST at writing uber-sexy, controlling men and Gabriel Miller is one I won't forget! 'The Pawn' is a fast-paced tale of revenge and control, perfect for lovers of dark romance. Avery and Gabriel are perfect together and I was thrilled to have the second book to start immediately after finishing!
You can have my body, I think. But you can’t touch my heart.

Even the clever cover grabbed my attention. While I deeply cared about the MC's, some parts of the book were a bit too slow for me and the endings felt rushed. So I really liked this book a lot. I loved the creative and clever plot and was totally taken by surprise by the conclusion. I never saw that coming!
I felt the deep connection between the MC's and it just felt "right". It seems that no one cared much for Mia, so much so that no one was sure she was actually missing as opposed to just being irresponsible. Cold, her kidnapper, actually saves her life by hiding her away once he realizes that she will be useless to his boss once a ransom is collected.
There is much more to the story: there is the sad tale of James and Eve's marriage, the father's coldness toward Mia for most of her life, and the superstar sister who outshines Mia at every turn. The only one who seems to really care about her is her captor.
Lots of readers didn't like the jumping back and forth in time in the narration but I felt it added a sense of disorientation which was necessary in the book. All in all, a sturdy thriller hat kept me turning the pages all night. I cannot believe 'The Good Girl' is the first book by Mary Kubica! I cannot wait to read her other books! ...more

One of my favorite writing duos! I have read several of the Merikan sisters' M/M and M/F books and they never disappoint. This book, which could read as a standalone, is a side story to Seth and Dom's story. But if you have not yet read the other Guns 'n Boys books, get them!! They are totally addictive!
Lucrezia is promised to Seth in marriage by her father. Even though she is very young and naïve, she dutifully goes along with her father's plan. Until of course she meets Santo, who is tasked with escorting her safely to meet her future husband.
Santo and Lucrezia are HOT but their relationship is completely forbidden. Each one of their encounters is laced with danger. I definitely want to read more about Santo: he could have an entire book written just from his point of view! Handsome, dominating and smart, Lucrezia can't resist him.
This is without a doubt a violent mafia romance but yet it is not quite as bloody or strange as some of the books I've read by this duo. Lucrezia is almost an old-fashioned woman, from the way she dresses to her speech to her mannerisms. And even though Santo lives in a world of constant violence, he was sexy and romantic and almost tender with the beautiful Lucrezia.
'Blood & Marriage' is a super fast-paced and spicy read, with all of the trademark sexual tension and wonderfully descriptive writing I have come to expect from Miss Merikan. A great addition to a wonderful series.

WOW!! What a dark and delicious ride. NOT for everyone but I loved it.
Nikki Sloane is a writer of very erotic and sexy stories. I have enjoyed her earlier books so I was very intrigued when she announced she was writing a dark romance. SORDID is very different from her earlier books and features a shy, somewhat nerdy, smart heroine. Addison goes to a frat party where she meets up with her crush, Luka, a teaching assistant from one of her math classes. Addison is insecure and socially awkward, and wants to "let go" for once in her life. She has too much to drink at the party and ends up with Luka.
The story then takes a 180 degree turn and Luka turns out to be extremely dangerous and controlling. He literally captures Addison and wont let her go. SORDID contains scenes of non-consensual sex so if this is a trigger for you, do not read this book. Luka is sexy and desirable BUT he is also cruel and abusive toward Addison at the beginning of this story. Nikki Sloane redeems him a little by the end of the book, which also has undertones of romantic suspense, but this is a very, very dark book. With that said, the sex scenes are also incredibly hot and erotic and the story is very fast-paced and surprising.
"His reality is cruel and dark. He traps me in his web, his power twisting tighter the more I struggle, until it’s hopeless. I can’t break free."
This is an edgy, graphic story with a fascinating cast of characters. Luka's motivations are revealed by the end of the story but we never really know what he is thinking because the book is told from Addison's POV. I loved how she stayed strong throughout this story, even as she was incredibly conflicted about her feelings toward Luka. Their relationship was certainly non-traditional for sure, but it somehow worked for me. Luka had a raw appeal and accepted what kind of person he was. SORDID is not the most graphic or taboo book I have ever read but it is close. Nikki Sloane is a gifted writer and my only issue with the book is that I would have liked a little more written about Luka's family! So hopefully another book will be coming that will explain more about his very dangerous family.
SORDID is a rough and raw read, but fans of dark erotic romance will love this one. There is a ton of very, very graphic sex in this book. But any book that makes me think about the characters after I have finished is a winner, and trust me, Luka is a VERY memorable character!
“I control every part of you. Repeat it.” I was trembling in my core. Instinctively I wanted to fight against him, but I also wanted to please. I wanted to succeed. I stumbled over the words. “You control every part of me.”

This novella adds a little something extra to one of my favorite erotic series and is a sexy and very explicit conclusion to this couple's story.

With those words, Pam Godwin has written on my favorite student-teacher dark romances. DARK NOTES is in the same category as UNTEACHABLE by Leah Raeder, with the rapid, short sentence style and the hopeless, yet hopeful, heroine. But Mr. Emeric Marceaux in in a class by himself (pun intended!) with his dark, dangerous and commanding nature. He knows what he wants and will do anything to make that happen.
Ivory is a feisty, but dirt-poor music student who is out of her element at the expensive and elitist music school she attends. She is a senior and is trying desperately to make it to graduation so that she can secure a spot at a prestigious music academy. But she is the poorest student at the school, forced to do anything to survive. She barely has money for new shoes or the school uniform, let alone textbooks or the required tablet.
Emeric is one commanding and bossy man. Whew. I thought I knew what I was getting into with this book but my God, this man is irresistible. He never, ever mistreats Ivory, unlike most of the other men in her life, and his heart literally aches for the proud student who refuses to take charity from anyone.
“All you need is a moment...This brutal man is my home. His hell is my heaven. I’m his Ivory, and he’s my darkest note.”
Emeric became obsessed with Ivory and although he knew he had to stay away, they were both immediately connected and believe me, this girl needed his protection in the worst way. I love Emeric and was completely invested in him and his need to protect Ivory. This is without a doubt one of the sexiest forbidden love stories I've ever read.
There is a fantastic, brutal, emotional and violent storyline that is pure Pam Godwin. The New Orleans setting is perfection, and having lived there for many years, I am always thrilled when an author gets the setting of the story just right. New Orleans is almost another character in this book, with its humidity, class system, funky neighborhoods and diverse music scene.
Ivory is a feisty, strong heroine who will do whatever she needs to survive in her brutal world. She is no virginal, innocent heroine but she does have a refreshing honesty that I loved. Pam Godwin continues to be my go-to author for dark romance and DARK NOTES is just one more forbidden romance that hits all the right notes.

WOW. I am not sure calling this any kind of romance is fair. Dark, gritty, emotional and heart-wrenching, yes. This book will make you feel every kind of emotion including heartbreak. I know I am late to the party on this one but if you have the book on your TBR list, read it immediately. I had a hard time moving on after reading this.
"I heard the bicycle approach, then slow. I stood with held breath, anticipating words but not receiving any. There was a scuff and a clatter, soft footsteps, a huff. Then the Badger was standing beside me on the concrete ledge, staring down at the water with his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. I felt as if I was standing next to a celebrity, an angel, my grubby cut-rate Christ."
This story was unique and fantastic. I was spellbound from the very first page. And even though I knew it was not a hearts-and-flowers romance, I still felt very connected to bother the heroine Adrian and Badger, the anti-hero of this story.
"My sister’s default is wide-eyed joy and possibility, and mine is a sort of involuntary gloom — not one I wallow or revel in, but not one I’ve ever been able to kick, either."
Adrian is a recovering pill addict who is struggling to make amends with her family and make ends meet in Boston. After hitting rock-bottom and spending time in jail, she is ready to just live a simple, normal life. She is SO unlike her twin sister and suffers from massive self-esteem issues. But even with all of that, I still found her incredibly relateable and even very funny at times.
“Just this funny feeling, like this hook in my guts is dragging me toward something. Only I don’t know it’s you until . . . there you are.”
“I get that, too. Like a magnet.”
“I don’t know why, but I feel calm around you. And I don’t feel that much.”
“I have been called a downer before,” I joked. Badger gave me a squeeze.
Adrian and Badger have a very unconventional "relationship" (if that's what you can even call it). He is almost incapable of expressing normal human emotion and yet he still feels the pull of the kind Adrian. She is the only one who can get under his skin and is the closest he can get to even having a friendship with another human. Adrian realizes that she might be replacing one addiction with another but she sees the pain and suffering that Badger has experienced and she can't help fall in love with this beautiful, damaged soul.
"His damage was all so much more tangible than mine, so tactile. Like the darkest scenes from his life were stamped in Braille across his skin. "
This book has really beautiful writing and characters I will never forget. This is a gritty, raw story that also has some stunning moments of humanity and kindness. I am only sorry I did not read this book sooner! Adrian learned so much from Badger and she also grew and changed as a person over the course of the book. Every experience and every person she met meant something to the plot and added depth and emotion to the story.
"Lying there with Badger, or Isaac, it looked nothing like my parents’ steady, companionable love, or like Amanda’s easy romance with Derek, like nothing I’d ever seen in a movie or read about in a book. It was homely and broken and faulty, and wonderful."
This was my first book by this author and now I plan to read her romances under her other name. I can't recommend this book highly enough for the sheer beauty, pain and emotion that the characters made me feel. 'Badger' was the kind of book that I rushed home to read and that I did not want to end. An absolute must-read!
“The only bearable thing about being human is that you can change, the second you feel like. Get it through your head that you changed, and cut yourself some slack before you fucking choke to death from all the apologies in your throat.” ...more

”Make no mistake about it. I was dangerously in love. Recklessly in love.”
Six years have passed since Twitch left his beloved Lexi and A.J. but he’s been watching their every move. As a huge fan of the first book in this series, and a huge dark romance fan, ‘Raw:Rebirth’ was one of my most anticipated books of 2019.
Filled with multiple characters and POV’s, this is a very dark and violent story that contains scenes of graphic violence and sex. Many early readers love this story so please read it for yourself and enjoy!
Twitch and Lexi have a unique and special bond and their scenes together are the glue that holds this story together.
”I had my one in a million. I’d never find anyone like him again.”
Lexi has had to make a life for herself while Twitch has been gone and her son is whole life. I loved seeing Twitch with his son but make no mistake, this is a dark crime romance with lots of suspense. There are many dangerous characters threatening Twitch and his family. Will they be strong enough to withstand all the danger and betrayal?
The author sets the story up for other books to follow; there is lots of danger and long-simmering feuds. Be warned that there are some uber-dark moments in this book. But I very much appreciated the conclusion and the wonderful prologue.
”Don’t you know, angel?” The intensity of that look gave me chills. “No matter which map I take, they all lead back to you.”
