When I first finished this book I wasn't blown away by it. I was happy to finally see a continuation of the series but this book in many ways changes the how series feels.. The last book hinted at some big changes and this book sweeps in a basically knocks away a lot of what was built up in the first couple of books. For me the story weaves out a lot more plot lines that I wasn't sure were going to be dealt with. A lot more characters were added into the already huge cast making it all the more likely that some would be sidelined and many wouldn't be fully fleshed out. To me I think that this book added too many new character and plot lines to fully do justice to the character and have a good resolution to the story. I like the first few books because they focused on Ushna and Tristan connecting me to the characters and their story. This book starts what to me the next book finishes in dragging in so many new characters and plots in diverting me to the huge cast of characters that I just don't care as much about. It feels like a little bit late in the series to start spinning all this out now. I like this series and I do like some of the moments in this story. But I feel like this is trying for an epic fantasy story feel without having to length and story base to build on.

Not so much instead this is a witty romp his a horny, not so bright, barbarian and a snarky slightly grumpy male witch. What makes this book so great is that it doesn't take itself to seriously and has fun with quest to lose the love collar and beat the bad wizards. We get some sex and blowjobs along the way but half the time I'm giggling at the two instead of getting all hot and bothered. This was definitely fun and really look forward to more.

This was a quick fun read with nothing really serious or angsty. I liked how the fairy tales Rafe heard as a child where really very realistic and Rafe has to find that out. Rafe and Jon make a sweet couple and I would have like to see them have more adventures.

5 stars This was a good wrap up for the series. Everything came together and we got a HEA with alot of wackiness along the way. (view spoiler)[Morgan 5 stars This was a good wrap up for the series. Everything came together and we got a HEA with alot of wackiness along the way. (view spoiler)[Morgan came back from the dead and that was enough for 5 stars for me. I was really sad when he died in the last book and it was great he got resurrected. I also loved how Tina ended up on the side of good just to irritate Sam. I do wish the dragons and a little bit of Sam's year in the woods would have been part of book, but there were a lot of loose ends to tie up and alot of characters that needed their little moments in this final book. We get rifles, explosives, and engineers instead of magicians. Although this is tagged m/m romance I would say it is a straight up fantasy book since Vellem and Perdith's relationship is more like a side line to the overall story. Vellem is a fairly straight forward character pushing his way through his problems and set backs without fuss or drama. Watching his try to work his way through the various problems had me turning pages. I did think that the various "wars" ended way to simply and felt that the whole book wrapped up quickly at the end.

I'm not really sure how to rate this book. There were some things I loved in the book and some thing that just left me wanting. I loved the charactersI'm not really sure how to rate this book. There were some things I loved in the book and some thing that just left me wanting. I loved the characters and the depth of them. I felt like they were real and believable. I liked Allen trying to fit into this new court and wanting to like Sarrica and be like and respected in turn. I enjoyed Sarrica as well as a king struggling with alot of fires in the kingdom and not wanting to deal with a new husband after the death of his last one. I love these two so I felt disappointed that they actually don't spend alot of time in the book actually together. I also didn't like how their feelings for each other turn on a dime and come about not by getting to know each other but by something that happens to Allen in the story. I also felt like the world building wasn't very deep and the the war and politics felt more like set pieces than a robust fleshed out part of the book. The lack of action was keenly felt in such a war heavy book. ...more

I love the humor and snark between Quinn and Twig as they deal with the various witches and family members throughout the book. We also get a whole bunch more pirate moments as they end up with the descendant of Pie's pirate captain. We didn't get as much of Bill and Cookie this time around although they do make an appearance at the very beginning and end of the book. I would love to see another book featuring Bill and Zac in the future since it looks like it could be hilarious and sweet at the same time....more

There aren't any surprises in the story following the same well worn paths of marriages with each person not knowing each other. Raphael comes with some unexpected baggage and Milan has some blindspots as well. But each one of these characters is likable especially Milan who tries so hard to make the best of a bad situation and Raphael who tries to overcome his past. This is a sweet romance over all where the couple overcomes misunderstandings and exs to find there HEA. ...more

This book excelled at mixing the Greek gods into the modern world with an added bonus of adding magic as well. This didn't feel like a deep serious book but it was fairly light and fun. I liked Theo and Lysandros as a couple. I also enjoyed how Lysandros was incorporated into the mythology and into Underworld. ...more

I enjoyed the world although I would have liked a little more world building on the Wytch Council and more about the wytch powers. But what I did see I liked. I liked Garrick and Jaire. They didn't have a great dad but they had a deep bond as siblings. It also made it interesting that Garrick wanted the throne because he knew his brother didn't. I wish Jaire had played a little bit bigger of a part in the story over all. Ileya was a little bit too tragic of a character for me and I can't see the attraction between Ileya and Garrick beyond lust. There wasn't enough time spent building a rapport and relationship between them for me. ...more
