I read the epub of this last year and ended up skipping parts and skimming so I wasn't sure whether to count it as read or DNF.
Much like Kinnporsche, the author has a problematic history that I highly recommended researching before supporting and giving them your money. I'll post some links that give a little history but I encourage you to do your own research. I even read that Yiggybean will not be selling this (or Kinnporsche).
Aside from that issue, I didn't enjoy the book much at all. From what I remember- the MC was bullied, body shamed, and humiliated often. There is a lot of spice and the plot was actually okay. I just did not have a good feeling as I read it.
There are so many great non-licensed novels out there by wonderful authors that Seven Seas could publish so I'm hoping that they will listen to the readers in their surveys....more

This story was much more romance heavy than I anticipated which was perfect after reading the slow AF burn Thousand Autumns. The one gripe that I have is the 30ish chapters (the chapters are fairly short) of miscommunication/misunderstanding in the middle of the book that about killed me. I had to look for a spoiler to see if it lasted for the entirety of the book because I cannot handle that. The angst definitely increased but the cuteness and fluff did as well.
What I loved: ❤️Xiao Yu'an and Yan Heqing were THE cutest! ❤️Multiple gay relationships including a W/W ❤️The confessions- absolute perfection! ❤️XY's eagerness and nervousness, being bold then being shy- he is just the best (reminds me a little of Song Qingshi from MISVIL) ❤️The sweet sacrifices they made for each other without the other one knowing ❤️The humor ❤️The overall range of emotions this book made me feel
What I didn't love: ❌The miscommunication/misunderstanding in the middle and a little right before the end. I love angst but if it's miscommunication, it needs to be resolved quickly and/or not be the cause any major harmful events.
I read a fan translation of the complete novel immediately after finishing Vol. 1 of the official English licensed book by Rosmei because I was hooked and too impatient to wait. I loved their comments and notes at the end of each chapter almost more than I liked Rosmei's!

I wanted to scream at and hug both Li Luo and Duan Mingyang throughout this story. I really loved their relationship in this last book and we learn some really endearing things about both of them ❤️ The story is resolved pretty early in this book with over half of it being extras. There are *some* editing errors as it’s a translated novel but nothing so bad that it takes you out of the story.

Tears were shed and it ends on a cliffhanger so make sure you have volume 3 (the final book) before reading! I am enjoying this series a lot more than I thought I would!

No idea but I’m here for it. This book is the definition of hurt people hurt people. We get the perspective of the MC, Li Luo who is proud, arrogant and conceited on the outside but actually is a good person. The ML, Duan Mingyang is proud, ruthless, and cold but we definitely don’t have the whole story yet. There is so much miscommunication between these two that I feel like Li Luo is most likely an unreliable narrator.
Li Luo comes from a rich family that has fallen from grace. He is a popular idol in the entertainment industry at the peak of his popularity. Duan Mingyang is the illegitimate child of a rich family who has history with the Li family.
It’s hard to come up with a summary without spoilers but basically it’s the story of two exes now back in each other’s lives because of work and family drama. Angst! ...more

Slow introduction as the first book sets the stage introducing characters, locations, and political alliances and rivals. I don’t think this book is for everyone but if you like epic journeys taking place over a long period of time with lots of details that will be come into play eventually- this book is for you. Highly recommend annotating or at least writing out names/locations to keep from getting lost because it is A LOT. My epub had a very helpful map and character/location index.
The cover is NOT the MC/ML

Similar to MDZS, we find out that they can be (somewhat) decent people just on a different path (ahem, WWX) and that the “righteous” sects are full of evil people and intentions (reminds me of some religions). I’m giving this one 5* because I would definitely re-read it if it got officially published in English.
Took a while to get invested in this novel because initially I had no attachment to any of the characters. By chapter 16-17 it ended up really growing on me and I knew I was going to love the story. This is a web novel which is always challenging for me and I listened via Natural Reader- so not my ideal reading experience.
Lots explanations about cultivation throughout the novel that would be really beneficial to readers new to danmei and/or cultivation (the different levels, qi, meridians, etc).

I am so sad leaving these characters behind but happy to have finished this series.
I can see why people might be put off with parts of this story (lots of info dumping and sometimes in a convoluted way). I decided to just go with the flow and enjoy the novel instead of stressing over understanding every detail (like I normally would). The relationships and characters are what carried the book for me ...more

Incredibly sad that this story has ended but also very satisfied with the ending ❤️ I didn’t think it was possible for me to love YW, but somehow it happened. I love them both so much. SQ deserves the world and I’m convinced YW will spend the rest of their days together making him happy. Even though this is not a romance novel, it is all about the journey SQ and YW are on together and the progression of their relationship.
I cried a few times and definitely laughed a lot at SQ’s internal thoughts. One character that I loved did not get nearly enough time and a few others seem to have just been forgotten? The story ends pretty early in the novel with a 7 part epilogue(!!!) and a bunch of extras.

I read this as a web novel after purchasing the Chinese version and the amount of information I was putting in my notes app was ridiculous (but I love that). Every character, clan, location, and group/organization is important to the story and will come into play at some point. I was very pleased with Seven Seas translation except one name change- “Embroidered Uniform Guard” replacing “Imperial Bodyguard” felt a little strange to me.
This is just the beginning of a beautiful, complex story with one of the most satisfying endings I’ve ever read. Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye have my whole heart and I find myself thinking about them just as much as Hualian and Wangxian ♥️
Thrilled to finally have an official English translated version of one of my all time favorite novels!
