Rereading this has given me some mixed feelings.
Scott Pilgrim has historically been one of, if not my absolute favorite comic book series of all time. I read it at least once or twice a year, and I've always considered myself a die-hard fan, so it's definitely sort of disappointing that re-reading it has left me picking up some questionable vibes.
If you're not familiar with the premise, Scott Pilgrim is a 20-something broke-ass Canadian. He plays bass in a horrible band and lives with his gay roommate, Wallace (who is my absolute favorite). Scott meets this girl named Ramona and becomes totally obsessed with her, but the catch is that he has to battle her 7 evil ex-boyfriends in order to date her.
I'm not even gonna lie, Scott is a d*ck and a little bit of a creeper.
See, Scott, who is 23 years old, starts off this book dated Knives Chau, who is a 17 year old Chinese girl, attending the town's local catholic school. (Knives is the worlds biggest sweetie and my favorite, after Wallace). But like CMON that is gross, a 17 year old and a 23 year old? And Scott doesn't even like Knives all that much, he openly admits he's just using her to get over his old ex.
Knives is literally done so dirty in this book that it's not even funny, y'all did my girl wrong from the very start and never let up. Scott meets Ramona at a party and after basically stalking her and then orders a CD from amazon because apparently she's the only delivery person in the area and then he begs her to go out with him until she agrees. And the whole time I was literally just like, WHAT ABOUT KNIVES!! WHAT ABOUT MY SWEET ASIAN CHILD, KNIVES??? HOW U GONNA DO HER SO WRONG LIKE THIS????
And that was basically me for the whole rest of the book, specially the 2 or 3 times Scott and Ramona make out and/or almost have sex.
See, I could sort of cut Scott a little bit of slack or at least understand slightly better if the thing with Ramona wasn't so much of a pre-meditated thing, like if they ended up kissing at a party in the spur of the moment or something like that, but Scott literally stalks her and thinks about her and all the ways to try and get her attention and asks her out like 3 separate times and has SEVERAL chances to come clean to Knives, or at least break up with her, and he doesn't. So boo.
That being said, this is still one of the most absolutely hilarious comics I've ever read, I think the art is great, and the side characters are literal icons. I just think on my latest read that I'm kind of not really feeling Scott all that much. I know I normally don't write reviews for shorter graphic novel series, but I think I'm going to try and attempt it because the series only has 6 books and is something that I re-visit often. Happy Reading!! <3

It's not that I didn't like Dance of ThIdk WHAT Y'ALL ARE ON ABOUT, in my opinion, this was by far better than Dance of Thieves in every capacity.
It's not that I didn't like Dance of Thieves, I did, but I just felt this one had a lot more umph to it, the plot was fast-paced and every second had me on the edge of my seat. I felt like the first book was a bit slow in the beginning, and the romance felt a little bit insta-lovey too, but this was beautifully well-paced and thought out.
Mild spoilers if you haven't read the first installment in the duology!
Kazi and Jase are returning to Hell's mouth, Kazi is staying in Tor's Watch as an ambassador, as Tor's Watch has finally become it's own kingdom. Upon their return, they are attacked by mercenaries and separated, Jase is injured and sent to hide in a near-by settlement and Kazi is taken prisoner by King Montague, who has taken over the territory. The two must work together on each of their own ends to save their families and take back the kingdom.
Like I mentioned earlier, I just liked this one more than the first. It was more exiting, there was more stuff happening, it was twisty, and the angst was off the chart.
We love some good angst ❤️
Jase Bellenger, please build me a village. I promise I'll treat you right.
I feel like some magic could have really tied the series together, I know there was a little bit of magic, but I wanted more in that department, it's supposed to be a fantasy novel after all.
Anyways, I think I might look into reading some of the Remnant Chronicles at some point, let me know how you liked them and if they are worth a peek (:...more

We all know the Hallmark trope. A big corporate business shark comes to a small town to tear down a local business. Said business shark falls in love with said town and usually the owner or family of the small business. Gets swept up off their feet, and decides to leave their big fancy corporate job and their uptight shallow business girlfriend for the daughter of the small business owner. The end, happily ever after. The only twist is that our main character is the uptight shallow business girlfriend who gets dumped, and has been 3 times in a row, seemingly never getting her Happily Ever After.
Nora is a literary agent. People call her, "The shark," because she's ruthless. Ambitious. Bloodthirsty. She loves her nieces to death, but doesn't want kids. Her job comes before anything and everything, except maybe her sister. She doesn't really do serious relationships or "feelings" - that is until a certain handsome and equally bloodthirsty literary agent named Charlie comes around.
Nora and her sister run off to a small town featured in a book Nora published recently, to get away before Nora's sister gives birth to her 3rd child. And who might they run into though on said vacation?

They tell each othMisha and Ryen have been pen pals since 5th grade when their teachers accidentally paired them together because of a gender mix-up. They tell each other everything- hopes, dreams, fears. They fight about trivial things like pizza and console each other about serious things, like how their parents abandoned both of them at a young age.
One day, Misha accidentally runs into Ryen at one of his shows and is disgusted to learn that she's a prissy, popular brat, and nothing like the sweet, dorky nerd he's come to know and love in their letters. On the same night, Misha's sister dies of a heart attack, and after that point, he stops writing Ryen completely. He runs away and mysteriously shows up at Ryen's school under the name "Masen," keeping his identity from Ryen a secret to spite her. The rivalry between the two starts to become something more as they spend more time together.
I am going to preface this review by saying that I am giving this 5 stars purely from an entertainment standpoint. In the real world, when a girl says "stop," when you're getting hot and heavy, you stop. And you would never EVER tell a girl she's a "slut," or a horrible person, or dish her a whole slew of verbal and emotional abuse just because you think she "deserves it" for making a couple of mean jokes, or, "not being who you thought she was."
Honestly- as I write this, I feel like I should have hated this book for all of the problematic behavior mentioned above, and the BULLYING. Misha publicly humiliates Ryen several times throughout the book, using things she told him privately in her letters over the years against her to embarrass her in front of other people.
So- why did I like this? I loved Ryen, I thought she was such a complex and enticing character with a rich backstory. A mean girl who's only mean because she used to be on the other end of it, who's just doing what she feels she needs to do to survive? Yes. I am a little embarrassed to admit that this was me in high school, I don't think I was as mean as Ryen, but I definitely know the feeling of putting up with unwanted bullsh6t from guys and doing what you think you need to do to make people like you and make it out alive of the complete and utter h3ll hole that is high school.
That's another reason I loved this so much, the rich atmosphere of the setting, infused with drama and BULLSH5T, this book exposed high school for what it really is, and that is to say, completely sh7tty. I'm not judging you if you actually liked high school, I just distrust you very strongly if you think that it's supposed to be the best time of one's life.
I also absolutely adored the writing, the plot was fast-paced, dramatic, and twisty, and THE STEAM was sexy as all get out. Although, still, when a girl says no, it means no. Even if you think it's just because she's scared you're going to get caught having sex in a library, you should still probably get off her when she says, "I think we should stop."
Sigh. Oh, books.

5 years ago, Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Everyone knows he did it, but Pip feels like there's something off with the whole ca5 years ago, Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Everyone knows he did it, but Pip feels like there's something off with the whole case. She decides to investigate and record her progress & findings for her senior project, enlisting the help of Sal's younger brother, Ravi.
This book made me fall in love with murder mysteries again. Pip is a world-class detective, intelligent, curious, and tenacious. I will admit there were some times where I was kinda like, "hmm this girl is very pushy," but I think that's just part of her character and what makes her such a good investigator.
I kind of liked how all, if not most, of the adults in this book were fairly useless. It felt very YA in that sense and really provided the perfect setting for a witty teen detective.
Andie really reminded me of Ali from Pretty Little Liars. I feel like overall this book had some major PLL undertones. (I love PLL, so maybe that's why I really liked this book too), and it was fun unraveling all of her dark and dirty secrets.
The TWISTS were phenomenal and heartbreaking, every second kept me on the edge of my seat and I'm 99% sure that I finished this in one sitting back when I first read it.
My mini grievance:
There were some parts where Pip put herself in unnecessarily dangerous situations for basically no reason and I was like, "THE COPS WERE LITERALLY COMING WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST WAIT LIKE 2 MINUTES" Gurl, you in danger. Don't do it.
There were also some parts where when she "caught" people, she would corner them and be like, "explain and confess everything to me" and they just did, to a teen girl, and I thought it was a little.... Idk, unrealistic. Personally, if I was a murderer and some girl was like, "the cops are coming, they're gonna get you, tell me all your murdery secrets" and she wasn't like- pointing a gun at me or anything (which Pip wasn't, she didn't bring anything to protect herself with.) I would be like- "um, screw you, I ain't tellin' you sh8t." and I would take my murdery secrets with me to the grave. I mean- they didn't even play the "now that I've got you and I'm going to kill you, I might as well tell you my master plan because it was perfect and I want someone to appreciate my master villainy and cleverness" card, which I thought would have been a little less awkward or at least slightly more realistic.
Anyway
Always been a favorite of mine, think I might buy the series at some point (:...more

The Risk (#1)
Wow, ok, I have found a new obsession!!!
You're probably looking at this cover right now and thinking this is some really kinky smut or something, but it's not. I'm serious, there're only two sex scenes in the whole book.
Lana is a serial killer. (Yes, a lady serial killer (!!!)) She has a long list of abusers, and she's hunting each and every single one of them to get her revenge. Logan is an FBI agent. He's working on Lana's case, trying to catch the person responsible for all of these murders. They start dating and things get very very interesting.
I don't usually condone murder, but in this instance, I was totally rooting for our murderous baddy over here and she should just keep on doing her, because yes queen. Paint it red.
I did have some practical questions throughout the book, I know that Lana thinks she's going to jail eventually and just wants to live her life and has been lonely for a while, but I still slightly question her decision to be in a rather serious relationship with a freaken FBI agent, that doesn't necessarily seem very smart. I wasn't actually very surprised at the end of the book when (view spoiler)[ Logan's partner showed up at Lana's house demanding to know why she stole the identity of a dead person, (hide spoiler)] you kind of knew that was bound to happen at some point.
I loved when we finally found out Jake's relation to Lana, that was very satisfying and he can also Get It as well and I am here for his revenge streak too.
I honestly feel like there wasn't even really that much romance in this, which I genuinely didn't mind, the focal point is mostly the crime/thriller aspect.
I cannot wait for Lana to catch the Boogeyman by surprise and totally f*ck him up, I know it's gonna be nasty and I am 100% here for it.
Can't wait to read the next installment!! Happy reading <3
Sidetracked (#2)
UGGHH THE FRIGGEN CLIFFHANGER, EVERY TIME
Just like the first one, this was amazing. Lana and Jake do some digging on one of Logan's nosey colleagues and discover she was sexually abused by her stepfather, who they track down and murder.
After torturing him, ofc.
I'm don't think I'm a sadist, but I definitely don't mind all of these rapists and pedophiles getting all their fingers and d*cks hacked off.
Already starting Scarlet Angel, I swear I am not getting any work done for the next 2 days.
Lana Supremacy forever <3
Scarlet Angel (#3)
Ya girl Lana is back at it again, taking names, getting justice via cutting off the d*cks of rapists.
100% here for it.
She finally comes face to face with the Boogeyman and has her way with him, but things get a little complicated when one of Logan's colleagues sees the whole thing go down and essentially figures out that Lana is the Scarlet Slayer. Lana ends up confessing the whole thing to Hadley, who agrees to keep her secret because Lana killed her stepfather (who was a pedophile and a rapist). Meanwhile, Logan is revisiting an old case and believes that a man was wrongly convicted of being a serial killer to cover up something much more sinister.
In this book, we learn a lot more about why Lana's doing what she's doing, and why all those god damn awful bastards who ruined her life did what they did to her. Turns out Lana's father (view spoiler)[ was wrongly convicted as a serial killer, and the town took matters into their own hands, covering up all the rape/murder/attempted murder because they thought Lana and her brother were the spawn of satan or something ridiculous like that. (hide spoiler)]
As the series goes on, I'm becoming slightly more invested in the romance, but I still think all the badass vigilante sh*t is the main focal point of these books. I don't mind one damn bit.
Can I just say real quick though that I really feel like the covers are doing this series a disservice?? They're so smutty, which probably turns a lot of people away from the books, but the books are SO GOOD, and mostly not smutty.
Lana 4eva <3
All The Lies (#4)
Holy crap, I can't even- I can't even.
Kyle is a sick piece of f9ck and he got what he deserved.
I hope are Lana ends up ok, that was a rough ending ):
Paint It All Red (#5)
This is officially my new favorite thriller series of all time, WHAT AN ENDING to a very tumultuous and riveting story.
I was actually very surprised that I ended up loving this as much as I did. I'm usually very squirmy when it comes to rape and murder and all that jazz, but I feel like this was actually a very cathartic read, and even if you don't intend to, you sort of end up rooting for "the bad guy."
I was genuinely shocked when they revealed the original killer, I did not see that coming.
And can we talk about how Lana named her cat Bennett?? Fricken- adorable ; - ;
I'm glad everyone got the ending they deserved. The very end gave me chills though, I mean... Logan just- (view spoiler)[ kidnaps someone for Lana to torture and murder once a year??? (hide spoiler)]
Kinda creepy, but you do you boo.
I recently found out that S.T. Abby died and I am very sad because I am head over heels for her work, she will be missed ):

If you're not familiar, Halsey is a singer-songwriter. I guess why this book caught me so off guard is because her music isn't anything like the poetry in here. I don't think her songs are bad, per se, I just don't think they're necessarily that deep or different from your standard pop music. But nothing is off the table in this heart-wrenching collection of poetry where Halsey talks openly and honestly about mental illness, her abusive relationships, and being a rape survivor.
Her prose is unparalleled to anything I've ever read before. Adding it to my Amazon wishlist, I have a new favorite poetry collection (:...more

Volume #1 (Ep. 1-25)
Behold- the best retelling of the taking of Persephone to exist.
Ever.
Lore Olympus is a modern spin on the original tale of Hades kidnapping Persephone to be his wife (doesn't happen like that in this version obviously, it's 2021 people.) In this version Persephone is a college student, studying at a university in Olympus. She grew up living a rather sheltered life with an overprotective mother, who has only allowed her to come to the city because she's on a scholarship from the goddesses of eternal maidenhood, meaning she has to remain a sacred virgin. Persephone is staying with Artemis, one of the members of the organization.
On her first night in the city, Artemis takes Persephone to one of Zeus's parties where Hades sees her for the first time. He is completely smitten and comments to his brothers that she put Aphrodite to shame. Upon hearing this, Aphrodite gets Persephone very drunk and puts her in the back of Hades' car.
Hades finds her there when he gets home, takes her in, and lets her stay the night. Persephone wakes up very confused and embarrassed, but Hades explains the situation to her and she relaxes a little bit more. They talk (and fliiiirrt) and soon it becomes clear Persephone is equally smitten with the king of the dead. He takes her home, and after that, they can hardly stop thinking about each other.
But of course, they can't be together because Persephone is supposed to be a candidate for the goddesses of eternal maidenhood.
That is- until freaken piece of trash immortal garbage piece of f8929king shit Apollo shows up.
(trigger warnings up ahead, dealing with sexual abuse)
Apollo is taken aback by Persephone's beauty and proceeds to be a total condescending and controlling asshole, freaking wakes her up in the middle of the night and freaken rapes her and takes pictures of it and yeah obviously I hate him.
This is kind of where we leave off at the end of volume one.
Volume one only covers episodes 1-25 (out of, 191 episodes that exist on webtoon, as of now), this review is ONLY FOR EPISODES 1-25
I have tried to review this a couple of times but obviously, as you can see the plot is very fast-moving and dense and it's hard to break it down unless it's in smaller chunks.
My thoughts:
This is one of the GoodReads choice award winners where I was like, "YESS, THIS IS THE ONE THAT SHOULDA WON"
The art in this series is freaking amazing, the style is so beautiful and unique and even if the plot wasn't all that great (FYI it is fantastic), I would still give it 5 stars for the art.
Even though the subject matter is often heavy, the series still manages to be incredibly funny and adorable, Persephone is basically a conscious incarnation of a cinnamon roll.
The plot is twisty, I think one of the reasons it's so great is because as a book that was originally a webtoon, the author has to leave you wanting more after every chapter so you keep coming back for the updates, which I think makes for a very fast-paced and captivating plot that always keeps you guessing.
Also Persephone and Hades- just- mwah, perfection.
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SERIES EVER!!! Even if you don't know a whole lot about greek mythology, I would still give this a shot, it's super adorable and hilarious, but also a beautiful and powerful story about dealing with trauma and finding your place in the world. <3 ...more

In high school, Connell is a popular star soccer player, and Marianne is essentially a social pariah. But in college, their roles reverse, Marianne, fits in easily among the haughty high-class university students, and Connell is a bit of an outsider, being from a working-class background.
I didn't initially like this until about 40 or 50 pages in, I was really off-put by Connell's behavior towards Marianne in the beginning. Juliette's touch is toxic and deadly. All her life she's done nothing but try to behave, to keep to herself, be small and quiet, so she doesn't hurt people. But now two sides of a warring nation are after her and her abilities, and she is forced to come to terms with her powers.
I LOVED Juliette as a character. I feel like a lot of times female MCs are either total divas or fluffy pink airheads and there's no in-between. Juliette is the perfect Goldi-Locks MC, she's kind and quiet, but not naive. Powerful but not arrogant about it. I am liking her so far.
The chemistry between her and Adam is so good. At this point in time, I cannot understand the appeal of Warner at all, I mean, he's a psychotic fascist murderer who has literally stalked Juliette her whole life, how is that attractive.
I guess that's the one part of this book that I really don't get so far, the love triangle. I get that Warner is supposed to be attractive or whatever, but as previously stated, he is a psychotic fascist murderer stalker and I just don't see the appeal. Also, he literally tried to murder Juliette's boyfriend several times... I just... I just don't understand why she can't stop thinking about him all of a sudden.
Anyways.

Sigh. ok, here we go.
I'll keep it pretty short and sweet. This series was the bomb diggity. (yes, I just said "the bomb diggity") It's got everything I love in a good series, drama, magic, great world-building, evolutionary romance, and a love interest who really shouldn't be allowed to be that hot.
There's a reason I finished this whole series in like a week, I simply could not put it down. There was never a dull moment with Jude and Cardan. I thought the pacing was perfect, a lot of fantasy books are unnecessarily long (*cough cough Game of Thrones cough cough*), but there was no fluff, no part I didn't find necessary.
If you like fantasy in any capacity, this is a must-read. ...more

My thoughts on The Wicked King specifically:
I hate the merpeople, I hate them so much. And Cardan is waaaaaay too sexy, seriously, it should be illegal for a character to be as sexy as he is.
I am starting the Queen Of Nothing right away.
