What I Love About This Book!
First:
There are so many things I love about this book and book series! First, I love that it is a chapter book and great for those kids who are just beginning to read chapter books. It is an easy read because the font is large, the spacing is big, and there are tons of pictures. This will really increase the beginning chapter book reader's confidence!
Second:
Second, I love that this series is all about ghosts and monsters, and goblins. This will really draw in the child who loves scary stuff, but it is also very mild so there isn't much in there that will actually scare them. This book is a great introduction to the concept of ghost hunting for young readers. My kids at school are all about scary things so this book flies off the shelves and I can't keep them in.
Third:
Third, I love the humor in this book! Andres and Desmond have such a great friendship and some of the things they say and do are hilarious. Sometimes the funny parts just make me laugh out loud, which helps keep the story light and fun. Kids will love reading this book series!
Lastly:
And lastly, I love that this book teaches valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and teamwork. Overall, The Haunted House Next Door is a great book for young readers who are looking for a fun and spooky story. The book is well-written, easy to read, and full of suspense and adventure. I highly recommend it!
My Favorite Quotes!
"When you move to a new town, grown-ups always give you a lot of advice. They never tell you what to do if your house is haunted."
"The ghost followed us into the den. And that's how I ended up here, hiding behind the brand-new sofa. Shivering and quivering. Don't judge me, though. You would be hiding too if there was a large gross burping ghost floating over your head."
"Right now, my biggest fear is that my parents will tell me it's time to move again. That would be the worst because I kind of really like it here."...more

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a school that is just insanely crazy? Maybe you think you already do, but trust me, your school is nothing like this one! The builder of the school was supposed to build the school one level with 30 classrooms across, but he accidentally built it 30 stories high with one classroom per story. “The builder said he was very sorry.”
This book takes place on the 30th floor and there are 30 chapters, each chapter is about a different character in the classroom. The book starts out with the teacher, Mrs. Gorf, turning students into apples for any reason, just so she doesn’t have to teach. But the apples (kids) do get her back! Then we are introduced to Mrs. Jewls, the new teacher, who believes that all of the students are monkeys and it took a lot of convincing that they were not!
After this, we are introduced to all of the students in the classroom, and just let me tell you to buckle up because you are going to be laughing out loud. Just to introduce you to a few of the students – Joe can’t count and it is hilarious how he convinces Mrs. Jewls that he actually can; Myron is the class president and his only job is to turn the lights on and off, but one day when he is late to school he walks into a dark classroom because he wasn’t there to turn on the lights; John can only read upside down so it’s easy to turn his book upside down, but when he needs to read the board they have to stand him on his head, and what happens next is so funny, and then there is Miss Zarves who is a teacher that doesn’t exist because there isn’t a 19th story.
There are so many more kids to meet at Wayside School so don’t miss reading this outrageously funny book for yourself or your students!
What I Love About This Book! This book just makes you laugh out loud! Some of the humor is so stupid but you can’t help but laugh. I love how the amazing Louis Sachar weaves all of the characters throughout the whole book. This is a classroom that you do not want to miss! I loved writing this book review and I know you will love reading this book!
My Favorite Quotes! “You need a reason to be sad. You don’t need a reason to be happy.”
“Allison, you learned a very important secret today, and I don’t want you to tell any of the other children, not even Rondi.” “What was that?” asked Allison. She didn’t even know she had learned a secret. She loved secrets.” “You learned that children are really smarter than their teachers,” said Mrs. Jewls.” “Oh, that’s no secret,” said Allison. Everybody knows that.”...more
Have you ever felt different from others and you just didn’t fit in? Have you ever been made fun of for being different?GIVEAWAY - www.blazertales.com
Have you ever felt different from others and you just didn’t fit in? Have you ever been made fun of for being different? Well, this is exactly how Mandie is feeling! Mandie was born on a cool spring day on the beaches of Carova.
How was she different from the other fillies? Mandie wasn’t the prettiest horse because her tail was curly, her mane was snarly, and her coat was downright mangy. All of the other fillies had straight manes and tails, with beautiful coats that glistened in the sun. She was also snow-white while the other fillies were a gorgeous chocolate brown.
When she couldn’t fit in, what did she do? Mandie often was alone and restless so she would roam the beaches by herself. That was when she noticed that something odd was happening in the water. The waves were lit up with such amazing iridescent colors from an algae bloom. Mandie was in awe so she had to get closer. What she didn’t realize was that as she was dancing around in the water, those colorful algae blooms were sticking to her hair.
Where do you hide in the ocean?? Just then, the elite group of fillies came walking down the beach. She didn’t want them laughing at her for dancing in the ocean so she dove deep down under the water. That was how the terebra turretella spiral sea snail got stuck to her forehead. She couldn’t dare let those fillies see her with a sea snail stuck to her forehead so she hid behind the sea dunes and fell asleep.
She woke up a unicorn?? Mandie woke up to the entire herd looking at her. She was so embarrassed and she didn’t understand why they were calling her a unicorn. That was when she was her reflection in the water. She tried to tell them that she wasn’t the beautiful unicorn they thought she was, but like always, they wouldn’t listen to her.
And then came the rain! When a storm came, it washed all of the colors and that pesky sea snail off of her. She was back to being plain ole Mandie. That was when the fillies started making fun of her for pretending to be something that she wasn’t.
Will anyone help her? That was when the mighty Amadeo rose up with thunder in his voice! Will he take up for Mandie or will she be humiliated in front of the fillies and the entire herd? Will Mandie ever feel like she fits in or will she feel exiled like before? Read this incredible picture book to find out what happens to Mandie!

Do you sometimes feel like you are different from others? Does that difference make you feel good or bad? Well, Sassafras did not like her difference!Do you sometimes feel like you are different from others? Does that difference make you feel good or bad? Well, Sassafras did not like her difference! Sassafras is a squirrel, and most squirrels have big, bushy tails. This helps them to balance when they jump from tree to tree. The problem with Sassafras is that she has a teeny, tiny, bristly tail. So because she is different, the other squirrels make fun of her.
It doesn’t matter that she is the fastest squirrel to gather the acorns. It doesn’t matter that she can avoid the mean dog because of her speed. All that the other squirrels see is what is different about Sassafras… that is until there is an emergency, will Sassafras’ difference make her shine? Read this precious story of overcoming differences, being proud of your strengths, and doing what is right even if it means helping those who have hurt you.
Why I love this book! I love this book for so many reasons! I like that Sassafras, even though her feelings are hurt, tries to troubleshoot her problem. It makes me so happy that Sassafras realizes her strength of speed and appreciates it, even though no one else does. I also love that Sassafras jumps in to help, even if she is helping those who have not been so nice to her. This book shows tenacity, persistence, and determination.
The illustrations in this book are delightful! The colors are so bright and cheerful. I also love how the illustrator shows emotions in all of the characters. You can tell what they are feeling just by looking at them.
What makes this book so amazing? One super cool thing about this book is that it is written in Dyslexic Font. Each letter is given its own identity making it easier for people with dyslexia to be more successful at reading. The last page of the book gives more information about this. It tells you how to get this font for your digital devices. It also tells you where to get more books with this font....more

What I love about this book! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this book! It teaches children that it is okay to be different and those differences can be a blessing, not a curse. Kids will love the illustrations in this book! They are bright, colorful, and just downright precious! I actually laughed out loud when I saw the picture of the moms taking their kids to school!! Hut’s mom is driving a football helmet, the baseball is being driven in a baseball glove, and the tennis balls are in their tube with wheels. The author even told me to look for Hut’s toy on certain pages. I enjoyed going on a hunt (and I think if found them all – haha!). I also loved how the author used a lot of sports jargon in the book, for example, “I was starting to feel like a fumble.”...more

Has your best friend ever gotten on your nerves? Can complete opposites even be best friends? Well, Cookie and Milk prove that the answer to both of these questions is yes! Cookie (a nickname from her dad because she is so sweet) is book smart and loves science. Milk (because her little brother can not say her real name, Mikaela) is very daring and loves to do stunts. When they were younger, their different personalities would annoy each other, but true blue friends don’t stay mad at each other very long. Now that they are older, they inspire each other to be their best. Cookie creates amazing inventions because of Milk’s fearless ideas and Milk implements her heroic feats because of Cookie’s creations. And what are all of these incredible creations and daring acts? Well, you will have to read this sciencetastic* book to find out! (*sciencetastic = science & fantastic).
Why I love this book!
This book is such a fantastic book! These two girls show that diversity can be a great thing! They don’t care that they are complete opposites; they use their differences as a plus. Another reason to love this book is that it is educational also. Throughout the book the little brother is funny and the author uses this to give definitions of scientific words. Another cool thing is at the back of the book. Michele McAvoy gives you facts of extraordinary women who excel scientifically and athletically. I think my favorite part of the book is the very last page that displays “s” words that make a best friend! What a much better world this would be if everyone implored these characteristics!! And I would be amiss if I didn’t mention awesomely amazing illustrations. The colors are bright and the drawings are incredible!

Do they ever find the snowman?
I'm going to give you a tiny spoiler alert here - yes they do! And they quickly find out that they wish they hadn't because this is not Frosty the Snowman. He is not nice and Andres thinks he wants to eat them.
Do Desmond and Andres tame the snowman or do they become a snowman snack?
Read this awesome story to find out what happens to Desmond, Andres, the snowman, and even Cindy Lee!
Why I love this book!
I love this book series so much because it is a chapter book but it is an easy read for younger readers. When I read this to my 3rd graders, they hung on every word and did not want me to stop until they find out how it ended. This is categorized as scary however, it is very mild scary. Younger kids who want to read from the scary genre will love this without being scared too much.
What could make this book even better?
I have created a PowerPoint that has pictures from the book so the students can see them as you read. It also has comprehensive questions and thought-provoking questions. My students loved this because I tell them that it is trivia time to see can answer the questions first. They absolutely loved this and it really helped them get more into the book. I could not keep these books on the shelves.

When Zebra goes looking for Giraffe for their daily walk and he finds his friend up in a tree. Why is a giraffe up in a tree you ask? It's because he was afraid of a spider. Zebra tried to reason with him by telling him that he is bigger and stronger than the spider.
Did that help Giraffe? No!

Why I love this book! This book reminds me so much of me and my daughter! I am the Zebra and Meagan is Giraffe. Meagan has anxiety issues about things that do not bother me. Over time I finally realized that it doesn't matter if it bothers me, it bothers her and that is all that matters. I quickly turned from being judgemental to supportive.

Read this powerful story of faith, the unbreakable bond of two sisters, and being proud of who you are.
I love this story and the strength of the main characters. It is very hard to be different for your faith in a world full of hate, but these two sisters show us how to turn away from those who speak out against us. This is a lesson for everyone, no matter your race or religion. Don't miss this beautifully illustrated book on strength of family, standing up for your beliefs, and how kindness is always the better option!
