I love how the author/artist took one photo, showed the palette she created and then a painting inspired by the photo. The colors are vivid and lovely, and the paintings are each unique and true to the palette of the photo. I do wish there was slightly more information about which exact colors she used to create her palettes as well as information about ht brushes and other tools used. But I would (will) buy this book and refer to it often.

This book was simple and straightforward and I feel that it really is for beginners which was perfect for me. Sometimes crafters create books for beginners that are not simple enough. But this book made me believe that I could actually learn! Now if I can start practicing, and convince myself to forget perfectionism. I will be buying this book to use going forward.

I can barely draw stick people, but love the idea of learning to draw and paint sweet, simple art that I can use for cards or in an art journal. I was disappointed with the first ten or so pages as it felt more like a "what to buy" book than a "how to draw" book. But then we got to the section where the author had created little pieces of art exactly like I wanted. I took my pen and scratch paper and practiced several of her drawings. They look nothing like hers, but I am hopeful that practice will help me improve. I am especially excited to draw and paint the little kitchen shelves vignette, and some of her plants and florals. I will be buying a drawing tablet the next chance I get!
Thanks for the lovely inspiration Netgalley, Flora Waycott and Walter Foster Publishing who gave me this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review....more
