This is the book format of a warm hug
Both of our main characters, Omi and Saitesh, have been through the wringer. Their healing, especially Saitesh’s, was very cathartic and heartwarming.
Omi was a fantastic main character, and the integration of Jamaican culture was beautifully done. She is caring and patient, her passion for braiding (and, of course, space chickens) and honouring her family, even a galaxy away, was really emotional. To add, Saitesh’s journey of healing from his past abuse was also very moving. I was curious about Saitesh when we met him back in Persistence, and the poor guy deserves the world.
This is a perfect low drama, fluffy (and spicy) alien romance that will draw you in and not let you go.
Words cannot express how much I love this world that Etta has created and all the characters in it. I’ll be counting the days until the next one! ...more

First of all, this is beautifully written. I was surprised by how well it flowed and I was immediately in love with the main character, Rue. I saw a review calling the main character a weak heroine, but I didn’t get that vibe at all. She doesn’t like conflict, but she is by no means a doormat. She’s not a timid virgin, she knows what she wants and works her ass off to get it. She is focused on surviving to graduation, and her mental health struggles were believable and heartbreaking. You bet your ass I cried multiple times along with her. She’s smart, and what is brilliant is that we’re not *told* she is smart, we are *shown* how she plays the field to come out on top.
The Eight were assholes and I wouldn’t have them any other way. They all had great chemistry with Rue, and I couldn’t help to love to hate them. Though CW for a OW scene in this book! (It’s hot though, I swear).
All the smut was fire, and completely consensual. Gotta love these assholes, they make it clear they want her ✨enthusiastic✨ consent. Though after a few of the encounters she felt conflicted, ultimately she wanted (and got) a good railing and honestly babe can’t fault you there. The guys she was intimate with during the bullying (which is light on the guys’ part) never used it against her, didn’t use it to humiliate her, and I loved that so much. (Though side note, author, if you read this! In the epilogue you say ‘edge play’ instead of ‘edging’ and they are veeeeeeery different things!)
Having a clique of stereotypical mean girls is a personal pet peeve of mine, but other than that I genuinely loved this book. Pleasantly surprised by this, would definitely recommend to ‘why choose’ romance lovers in need of a festive read! ...more

I was grinning ear to ear the entire time, howling with laughter so loud I’m expecting a noise complaint from the neighbours, and crying along with the characters when things got tough.
Stassie and Nate are hot as hell. They have such good chemistry, their banter was hilarious. All the side characters are amazing and well flushed out. This is full of casual representation that I loved so much. I would gladly read a book about all the characters we were introduced to, but especially dark horse Henry.
And holy shiitake mushrooms the SMUT is top tier. It had me blushing. Shows you don’t need wildly kinky scenes for it to feel super spicy.
I would 100% recommend this book if you love the reverse grumpy x sunshine trope, golden retriever love interest (and friends), or just are a slut for hockey romances despite never watching a game in your life. ...more

First of all, Rathgarr and Geva are both hot as hell! They had so much chemistry, and fake dating is one of my favourite tropes. This does this so well! So much drama, my goodness! The angst was top tier, and I could’ve strangled them both at times, which just made their HEA all the more sweeter.
The ORCLINGS!!!!! They deserve 5 stars on their own they’re all so STINKIN’ CUTE! The teaching scenes were some of my favourites, my heart couldn’t take it! Honestly these chapters just show how much Orc Mountain has evolved since the first book, and it’s so refreshing. A lot of the times with books like these, the circumstances around all the couples don’t change, but Orc Mountain from this book is leaps and bounds different from Orc Mountain in ‘The Lady and the Orc’. What growth! Hats off to our previous leading ladies for whipping the orcs into shape ...more

Speechless. Absolutely speechless.

This is a perfect, sweet omegaverse book. Beautifully written, gripping plot and swoonworthy romances, and it’s so diverse! Seeing genderqueer love interests made me so so happy.
Nicky was a great main character. She is shy and has her insecurities, but she finds strength throughout the story. She was a joy to read about and I loved reading her thought process.
The Night Owls were all amazing and so unique. They all stood out in their own way and brought something special to the story. They’re all doting and caring, it’s just pure fluff. I genuinely can’t pick a favourite, I love them all so much.
And the SPICE! Holy moly… I was not expecting it to be so hot. Nicky does a lot of exploring, if ya catch my drift. The smexy scenes are really well written and paced, they’re definitely bookmark worthy ...more

I have NEVER laughed this hard reading before, I had tears in my eyes the entire time. I love Helen so much, she is an amazing character and so nuanced, and she and Mathiras turned out to be such a power couple.
The plot, the plot TWISTS, and seeing all the previous Corsair couples made this a great end to this group’s story. I’m just sad it’s over. I hope we see snippets of them in later books....more
