What a fun read! I really like the friend group and how each of them have their own characteristic that fits (and doesn't fit) the typical kill order in a thriller movie. Each of them are charming and lively in their own right, but together they fit and move as one and it's just beautiful to watch them work together. I admit that I found them to be annoying and hard to root for at first, but they quickly grew on me ...more

(view spoiler)[i was initially going for 3.5 stars: i don't think it's a bad book, it's just different from what i expected. 1) it was cozy yes, but it was so much more cozier than i expected it could gave me cavities. i love the small town, the people, and of course the farms itself, but the way the author use sweet metaphors were too much like using sugarplum fairies and some kind of cookie for the foreplay scenes were too much >:( also, for such a cozy setting and description and being set in an actual christmas tree farm, i don't think the holiday was actually there? like we never really got to the busy season and the business side of it at all. and luca is soooo perfect, he has no flaws at all which is infuriating. like, did he at least leave the toilet seat up???? at least give me something here.
2) i was expecting fake dating, where it's actually faking and there's awkwardness in figuring things out and some shenanigans to fooled evelyn. but nooo, it was all very smooth sailing and easy, everyone was rooting for them and it's not awkward for them. and i keep waiting for evelyn to show up to get the party started, but she barely there and only appeared in the last quarter of the book.
3) which made the third act breakup so annoying! like there's no awkwardness, it felt right, everyone in the(ir) world knows that they love each other, but stella just couldn't seet that?? i swear chapter 21 is one of the worst chapter i ever read, one of the worst third act break up i've ever seen, because she couldn't even think of one good reason why it couldn't be true, only keep saying and telling luca that his feelings are wrong without explaining why. not to him, not to herself, not to us readers. it's obvious the author need a third act breakup but couldn't flesh it out well. and it's the big reason why i took off a star (and maybe more, we'll see how i feel after sleeping on it lol because it really infuriated me). (hide spoiler)]
i guess if you like cozy vibes and want some cute christmas read, this one would be perfect. however if you're expecting for something more fun, awkward, realistic, and not frustrating, this one is not it. ...more

It was very fast paced as things happened in 1 night only and I'm glad that they are not totally isolated (as in there are other people staying in the hotel) because a) it will be too cliche and b) the story is actually creepy! I think the writing did really well in describing the hotel's eerie and despondent feelings, as well as the pressure Chrissy's feel. I also didn't know it's based from Elisa Lam's story, which always creeped me out, so there's that.
I enjoyed the dynamic between the Ghost Gang, but I wished we focused less on the teenage drama and more on the mystery, because some things are still left unanswered at the end of the book! The drama add some realistic feelings to the story but boy I wish they could be trimmed down.
Also, #justiceforjoe! I hoped Kiki came back to get Joe's manuscript and he made it because he definitely lost his job now :(...more

I've been eyeing this series since the first time I heard about it and it didn't disappoint! Following Yoshiki, who's bestfriend and love interest Hikaru went missing in the forest for a month and then returned like nothing happened. Only Yoshiki quickly realized that "Hikaru" is not Hikaru. It depicted grief, loss, and uncertainty really well- Yoshiki liked Hikaru, but never had the chance to tell him that and even without the romantic feelings, the fact that they have been together made his death hits really hard. We never know how Hikaru felt for Yoshiki, but "Hikaru" definitely liked Yoshiki (either on his own or leftover from real Hikaru's feelings). Despite that, "Hikaru" could also be cruel towards Yoshiki, hurting him on several instances.
The story started out immediately, which I appreciated and took me off guard. It established the relationship and setting really well within the first 3 pages of the manga, and I truly got jumped lol. The mysteries are also intriguing- on how hikaru died, how yoshiki realized "hikaru" is not hikaru, what is "hikaru" and weird things happening around the village. I'm really looking forward for its sequel!...more

I love its description of adult friendship and dating landscape: how hard it is to meet and click with new people, and how different experience of online dating between men and women are. It's obvious from beginning that the Reid and Millie have a different relationship compared with others (except maybe Chris and Reid lol). The way they talk and act are just different and the first two chapters really cemented their strong chemistry too. I love seeing how relationship develop, both online and offline. Millie really reminded me of myself so seeing her growth was personally rewarding for me.
I started with the e-book but switched to audiobook since I was quite busy. I highly recommend the audio because the narrators are engaging and really brings the characters to life!...more

I also liked how we got to explore the pumpkin patch as Deja and Josiah work on their final night mission. I just feel like the reveal at the end was too sudden, especially considering the whole book they were on a mission to go after another girl and Deja met several of her exes. I wish we got more flashback/reminiscing scene between Deja and Josiah on their past years in the pumpkin patch so we can get more chemistry from them, but other than that, it's cute!...more

Such a small but fun detail - I love how big and close the family is. A lot of books complained about the lack of privacy or usually there's a sense of suffocation when it comes with big families, but in this book sophie's complaint has no bite and we can feel the love they have for each other, even the weird aunts and cousins - And speaking of, its nice they include the bad relatives lol its realistic you cannot exclude them :' - All the dates ideas are so fun! The whole premise of the book is just so fun, I love the family element and trusting (or distrusting) your family lol and I love all the blind dates idea! I love the first one the most and the nativity sounds so unique but horrible but gave me a lot of laugh - Griffin is such a terrible ex lol enough said - The romance was a bit meh, i love how Wes is part of the friend group and their shenanigans, but i don't like the weird in-between of progress and slow burn once they get on with it - The talk about Margot and the baby was nice as it shows the reality of pregnancy and childbirth, but I don't feel like they add much to the story other than creating conflict and tension. Like you literally can swap it with other things and it would be the same. - I love each characters and family members are distinguished from each other - This is such a cozy story! I love the whole christmas tradition and family scenes, and this book has a lot! Its also really easy to read and I highly recommend reading 1 chapter a day (according to the dates) like an advent calendar! ...more

I had problems with Tia's liberty with boys. And she broke Will heart, but gets jealous if someone wanted him. And Will, well he's your typical good boy, so he's just okay for me. But I do like Sawyer! I usually fall for the bad-boy-that-has-more-than-he-seems. And Sawyer is indeed one of them. Other characters don't really stand out because, well, we don't have much time with them.
The story is light, with no serious issues. I like how realistic and real the problem is, how one title (Biggest Flirts) could turn someone life's upside down. And it also has lots of funny banters, and of course, flirting! My favorite parts would be at the band practice when Ms. Nakamoto reminds them to get away from each other because they're so close.
Overall, Biggest Flirts is a fun and entertaining book. I do have issues with the characters, but the plot is pretty fun and I enjoyed it.
