”Don’t ask me if I’m ready; because no matter what happens, I’ll have to be.”
What an adventurous volume. One of my favourites, certainly. It is filled with plot twists, newly introduced characters, exciting yet emotional moments all together. I really enjoyed this one.
Another honourable mention:
”You won’t know the meaning of success without knowing how it feels to fail. How you recover from these trials is what really matters.”
Leon is definitely one of my favourites. Thanks for sharing your wisdom soldier....more

Highly enjoyed this series in my elementary school years; one of (or potentially even the first) english book I had read. This series holds so much nostalgia for me; nonetheless, it is truly gripping and interesting – even though it was published for a younger audience.
The art by Kazu is beautiful– to the point that I am hunting down the Harry Potter 10th anniversary books designed and illustrated by him. The story is interesting, has layers, has drama. I can see why I fell in love with this years ago. In fact, I may be falling in love with it all over again now.

The drawings are absolutely adorable, and even touching. I seriously fell in love with the characters. The horse may have been my favourite.
I promise you'll take at least one thing away from this.
"What is the bravest thing you've ever said?" asked the boy. "Help" said the horse.
"Asking for help isn't giving up," said the horse. "It's refusing to give up."
Edit: it doesn’t sit right to keep it as a 4 star on Goodreads; changing it to 3 stars, with the realistic rating sitting around ~3.5

Cute read. Can't say it kept me super engaged, but it was an okay read. The fourth star was added purely because of the ending; gave something extra to the story. A twist I didn't necessarily see coming, but also one I wasn't theorizing (so that may be why it caught me off guard).
I did really enjoy the fantasy-based setting. And the art was quite pretty. Overall 3.75 stars....more

I felt a personal connection to the storyline. Loss of belonging while oh so young. I grew a connection with the characters themselves, their personalities, their backgrounds.
But, the story itself felt rather empty. 3.5 stars....more

This was my favourite volume of the series, by far. The focus on mental health, how it affects the person and their friends, family - chef's kiss. I love seeing more representation towards these aspects of mental illnesses specifically. I think it's important and should be talked about way more.
Stressing the fact that your partner will not 'fix' you, is the most important lesson of all. No one should be put with that much pressure. It is not realistic, and I find it happens too often. Beautifully written (and drawn). 4.5 stars....more
