Benny Imura is the main focus for the book, but his friends and brother feature big as well. I fell in love with the two Imura brothers and Benny's character really improves throughout the book, and I loved that we see him in both lights. The author held back nothing with him in showing him to be a very confused and hurting young man. I mean how can these kids really understand what things were like for the survivors of those first few months?
Its been nearly 15 years since the first night. That was when life for millions of people ended, the zombie apocalypse happened. This book is good for the fact that it wasn't set in the chaos of the first few days, some society had returned. Not much but enough that some isolated group s of survivors can live. But out side the fences in the rot and ruin (BTW great name for the country) there's no laws and no control. The problems the book show are things in could believe would happen. I loved Benny's big brother Tom. He's different from other hunters, and I thought he is a very cool character. But all the people are well written and the book even had me cry in a few places. This was a book that once I started reading did not want to put down, in fact I finished it in one day. I can recommend this book, and if you're fed up of the usual first days zombie books then try this one out, it gives the history of those days but told from the perspective of just a couple of people. Good reading....more

I've come to expect that after reading his zombie Armageddon books. This is the first of a new series and it was fun to read all new characters in new situations.
There is a drug you can take to stop you going totally zombie and eating people, the trouble is nothing is ever as simple as that in life. There are the zombie games, and the unlucky ones coming to medi- centres well, that can be bad news. And things go wrong as things always do. The characters are entertaining. Tony and his wife, and Kevin and his sister are favourite s of mine and the book is fast paced, never a dull moment. The writing style is great the author just has a wicked sense of humour, the book has lots of black comedy in it. That's not to say it isn't horrific. I can recommend this book to anyone who likes zombie apocalypse books and this one is a really fantastic story!! I can't wait for the next one to come out....more

Only to be expected though since an infected pregnant girl was evacuated at the end of book 6. The reading seemed fresh with new ideas and this is good as this is book 7 in the series.
I liked all the news characters and the new setting. It seems the people in the USA can't deal with the zombie Armageddon any more than w e could. So a quick food fun book. I'd recommend it to any one who's a zombie fan....more

As usual things don't go according to plan. They really didn't have enough information and to be fair, how could they!!
One of the new breeds, Raphael, a four armed touch black skinned monster is just so cool. He's easily the best part of the book. He's got his plans but all he really wants is to get laid and eat lots.
Its going to be lots different in the next book as the book goes to America. I'm going to miss reading all about the people in the north of England but it will completely refresh the series. I can't wait to see how the zombies change next. I've already got book 7. Such awesome books....more

The zombies and tainted have changed again, and the hunters are all disappearing as well. Dominic was back in this book and that was great as he is one of my favourite characters.
The survivors are living in a small village but the normal humans don't know they are sharing their home with about 70 of the tainted. There is a lot being set up for book 6 in this one and I'm wondering just how that will play out. The story still has lots in it that makes me laugh. The characters are all well written with the new security force for the most part not being very nice people. But its good to have someone to hate.
I've already got part 6 ready to read and I can't wait. Its interesting having all the different types of zombie/human /tainted. Keeps you guessing. And that's good....more

Its been a year since the zombie outbreak and we meet new people and some from the other books. There are the traditional zombies, and the hunters, and they are the dangerous ones. But things are going wrong, but what it is makes the book more interesting again. I want to know what happens next!!
The castaway stuff in the supermarket was a brilliant addition. People just aren't meant to be on there own so much, and the fake Darren was cool!...more

And it had the addition of lots of freaky zombie kids that scurry around the walls and ceilings like spiders. Very creepy!
It was well written and it had a whole new lot of people to get eaten and turn into zombies. Good fun, there was even another of the thinking zombies, this'd time it was a freak of a woman. Don't know how the next one will be like, but if its anything like the first three I'm so looking forward to it. ...more

It was mostly set in a club but we met a lot of people outside as well. Talbot was great, a zombie who can think was a great addition. The book was fun to read, the writing was excellent, and I loved all the crazy people as well.
There wasn't a military presence in this but it didn't matter, the book was awesome anyway. I'm going to get book three as I want to know what happens next. Will Dominic get his man, and what about the other survivors? Can't wait!!...more

The way it was split into three parts with each part telling our characters back history. The zombie apocalypse is well and truly here and I like that there are both fast and slow zombies. That always makes for good reading.
My favourite character in the book has to be hands down Veronica but I like Ben as well. The craziest person had to be Samson's wife. I could hardly believe the way she is. I mean stilleto heels? It made me laugh though.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book....more

The book follows several different groups of people as they try to survive, from teens pleased they are staring in their favourite video games, to others who want to hide. It's a very violent book, but unputdownable. There is also soldiers or are they really, and scientists trying to round up survivors to experiment on. But I don't know if it's going all to plan.
I'm really looking forward to reading the next book....more

This he did this several times throughout this book but in each case he tried to help the people get some power back by showing them how to get revenge on the men hurting them.
I liked this in Jango s character, it made him into a man you could like and admire, even when faced with how unstable he could be. Vanessa , I really liked her, how she became stronger, more able to fight, and that she had jango s back, even if that just meant in one instance, not leaving his gun behind.
It was another very graphically violent book, but that was good, and I liked how he became known as Zombie Fighter Jango, that was just cool and he totally deserves the name. Even if he kills some zombies while they are still alive!...more

I like Jango, as messed up he is, living through abuse as a child has left him broken but he survived. He's strong, knows his weapons through watching YouTube which was a nice touch.
Sonja, when he finds her , he feels an instant connection to her. And she feels one back.
The zombies in this book are the type that can run, there was a fun part at the beginning of Jango running round his car and the zombies chasing him. The book is violent, and graphic in its description. Jango has his iron wood stick and he has found its perfect for killing the zombies.
I was wondering from when he met Sonja, how's this going to play out. Is jango going to have a relationship or not? The book didn't disappoint, except I wanted more of it! It had me guessing were is he going from here. That's a good way to finish....more
