For me so many things were just off. the dialogue was juvenile. It didn't read and flow the way it should have. When I finally started get into the book a huge WTF moment was thrown at us and it threw me off badly. You are you and past you is you and her? it made it very confusing and frankly was shitty really. you are not past memory you and that shouldn't affect ur thoughts and deeds the way it did.
argh I want to wax about this absurd plot in the book but I'm holding it in. barely...
heavy heavy editing needs to be done on this. the king comes off as a petulant little boy not a 1000 yr old self proclaimed monarch. So too do half the characters actually. Madness
writer you did what I can't and that is to write something and publish so kudos to you on that because it cannot be easy....more

It was so boring. I'm not a fan of the main couple so it makes it difficult to really get into the book.I'm loving jonah and think she should suck it to ethan. The timeline again in pure shit. I will not be reading anymore because it's the same crap. Humans and all that crap. Apex predators my ass. You have human politicians making fools of you and your own GP or whatever are just like politicians today. Old and stuck in their ways.
Jeff was the only bright spot. I skipped ahead and hooted at the ending. Thought it was right. sampled the others to follow and saw it's the same nonsense. Humans and Merit with the golden cookie to ave the day. I'm real good. ...more

Not a very good plot. Coming off of book three's ending more could have been done. Things should have been fleshed out. Hypocrite heroine which was sickening to read. Useless dailogue and scenes. No satisfaction to be had with the real antagonists of the book Maiwenn and Kiyo. a supposedly badass heroine cannot be like a marshmallow at any point in time. Very disappointing read all around. ...more

I feel as though something monumental happened but i just didn't get it. I just wasted hrs I would never get back.
Richelle I still respect you as a writer I just really dislike this book. Really disliked it.
I kept screaming Adrian you are not a little boy. Man the flock up. Then i was thinking why are we even focusing on him his side isn't remotely interesting any more. Right at the point I was about to give up, the book and him sober up. I said finally because i hate it hate it when in books and movies they purposefully use delays at crucial moments. Like sleep time. Every time i read about Adrian at court i had this image of a baby with rattle in hand just bawling and throwing a tantrum. So we move on from there and Agent Sydney gets sloppy. Well she upset me from the moment she was out of reflection. To survive you do what you have to.If you are told not to make a sound don't or your try damn hard not too. You don't jump up and start to say how you really feel. That's just balls deep stupid. So yes things finally seem to be going places and both characters have me going for a while. I'm trying to let them make up for all the follies of the first third of the book. Breakout time. We don't just leave the captors!, we incapacitate the bitches dammit. It's an all out war. There is no moral high ground after being tortured for months especially when the captors got a sadistic thrill out of the games. All-right so we calm down and then after thinking whoa this Sydney chick is pretty smart she decided she's calling the shots. WTF!!!! your ass was just locked up.Be thankful and roll for a while. You and the little boy Adrian decide to split up from rescue group totally killing the reunion of two detainees i was looking forward to. That was all kinds of "dotish" because the mastermind behind the rescue is damn good at keeping people hidden. He's kept himself hidden for a long damn time You give him and Adrian some bullshit excuses and "Adrian falls for it because your eyes are so sexy" or some such nonsense. I roll with you for a while and when asked your plan you have non and you stay not far from where you were held captive. Obviously you are going to find yourself hunted again and again and again. Then the thing that really makes me feel to pitch my device across the room is when Sydney says " we should have gone with Marcus but can't/won't call him now".
At this point i was so flabbergasted I just didn't know how to continue. However, I did. You and genius have this cock-amine idea and get hitched Vegas style. A chase to rival all others, some magic tricks and showdown with the captor you should have taken care of before. Head back to court at Adrian's insistence when even I knew that to be a dumb ass idea.
More crap followed. I just feel so let down. I never vent like this but i was really looking fwd to something in the way of progress when it was just pure regression of the characters and the plot to me. Oh and up to now a far as i could follow Sydney still didn't give herself the saline solution. i can't remember if she did to be honest.
I gave the book two stars because it takes courage and dedication to write a book and publish it for the masses to enjoy or hate. Also it's one of my I gave the book two stars because it takes courage and dedication to write a book and publish it for the masses to enjoy or hate. Also it's one of my fave types of romance - Sports romance. That being said I'll give a brief review.
I had no connection to any of the characters and initially thought maybe later. As the book progressed it became clear that wasn't going to happen. This wasn't a romance to give me butterflies where I too feel alongside the characters. There was no humor that I could identify with and the characters'dialogue was painful to read.
The "po' me one" attitude of the characters was just sickening. The requisite baggage, fall outs and make ups were abhorrent. It was just a failed book. I can't get more plain than that. ...more
