[image] Have a box of tissues ready, not only is this the last novella is this series, but your in for a roller coaster of emotions.
[image] I must admit, I wasn't too fond of how Origin left on that cliffhanger. Compared to Opals ending, this one was poor in comparison. However, it wasn't terrible. Maybe thats due to the fact that I didn't have to wait to read the next one? Who knows.. It started off roughly where things were left so there was no need to play catch up.
I don't know why, and this may be a bit sexist in a sense, but previously when Katy was missing and Daemon was all hell bent on getting her back and worried sick, it was swoon worthy and very attractive. When Katy does it... I don't know, it just seemed needy. Could be because we all knew Katy was in danger as there was this big build up to the DOD where we knew they were evil but to what extent, we didn't know as Dawson kept it all hush hush? So there was this underlying tension when Daemon was frantic. Whereas in this case, for roughly the first chapter, I get that Daemon is missing, with his siblings, you haven't had any contact for the first couple of days, a horde of aliens have arrived, and Luc and Archer have not so subtly contained their ideas about them swapping to the other team. Okay, when you put it all out there you can see why she's worried. Needy may not have been the best word to describe it, but it did make her go coo-coo in wanting to dive head first in to god knows what. I like Katy because she has more sense then that. But alas.. Thats not what happened.
I can't really go into too much detail with this review as so much happened and I don't feel like I can explain my reasonings behind something without the previous tidbit, leading me to spoiler my whole review and I don't want to ruin this for anyone as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I do have to say, in spite of my previous rant about Katy being... impulsive, she is a mother fucking badass and I love her. She is no push over and you can see how the other sequels have developed her to grow into this kickass hero in this last book.
'Fingernail marks were etched down the side of Sadi's face and reddish-blue blood had been drawn. A disturbing level of pride rippled through me. Kitten got claws and then some.'
[image] And if thats not enough for you, heres a little snippet of a fight scene. Don't worry, theres plenty more!
(view spoiler)['Kat had turned back to the limo, arms raised, flipping the crumpled car back on its wheels. Dayum.'
'Static crackled in the air around her. A blast of source left her hand smacking into the Luxen and launching him into the air. She didn't stop, sending another and another until he crashed back down on the hood. A shimmery, incandescent pool of liquid rapidly formed under the still form. Oh, parts of my body got all kinds of tingly seeing that go down. Kat whipped toward me, her eyes glowing from within. In that moment, she looked like a goddess - a goddess of vengeance.'
I can tell you, reading this again now makes me regret that I've finished the book. It really is just that awesome! (hide spoiler)]
Thats another thing I loved about this book, as well as Opal, the dual point of views. I love being inside Daemons head, you get to see his internal struggle, his split personalities from his usual cocky, intimidating side that you only really see from an outsiders perspective, to the cuddly and caring. It was also really nice to see how others view Katy. I mean, i thought she was awesome from the get go, but like so many off us, has moments of insecurity.
'In that moment she didn't remind me of a harmless kitten. She was a full-grown tigress.'
I think that statement is probably the best analogy to describe her development in the sequel.
And lets not forget her trade mark, witty remarks that we all love so much!
"The things he said and... and how he acted afterward." I added in a shudder for show. Someone hand me an Oscar.
[image] This sequel really has a lot to offer. It contains violence, love, heart ache, laughs, anger, and lets not forget, excitement! I mean, isn't that what we all ask for? As I've said before, I love how JLA has made Katy relatable. Despite her being a Hybrid and married to a really smoking hot alien. She's funny and quirky. She definitely carries traits we can all appreciate.

'The chick was definitely eating for two, considering the amount of food she just put down, and she was still going strong. Pregnancy was weird. Kat sneaked a slice of bacon off my plate. She had no reason to eat that much other than loving food.... and bacon.'(hide spoiler)]
'Like, what kind of sit-ups does one do for that? The only time I sat up from lying down was to get out of bed. Or get some chocolate. Or a book.'
I feel ya girl!
[image] RESPECT.
Sadly, my review is coming to an end. As we can all see, I loved this book. I recommend it to anyone who loves this kind of genre. Just one eeeeny teeny tiny detail that had me like, huh? Hm.. That ain't right. This mistake does contain a spoiler so if you haven't read this book yet, I advise to not go any further!
(view spoiler)["She's one of the first female Origins ever. Who knows what shell be capable of."
This quote is from Archer about Dawson and Beth's child.. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this information false? I thought Sadi (the sadist) was an Origin pretending to be a Luxen?
'Sadi had gone in the opposite direction, donning lenses that made her look Luxen. But she wasn't. She was an Origin.'
Kind of says it there really... Unless there was a sex change we didn't know about the ending has a little hiccup. But I still love you JLA, and this is one of my favourite YA series so Im okay to ignore this little bump. Cant wait to read more of your books! (hide spoiler)]...more

I was in love.
I liked how the book switched between Echo and Noah's point of views. Both troubled with their past and their problems but find solace in each other.
I don't really know what to say about this book but I was in a sappy mood and this book was just what I needed. It wasn't love at first sight, there was a build up which I really enjoyed. They both fancied and liked each other at the beginning but they didn't jump into anything within the first 5 pages. Thank god!
At the beginning Echo was a push over, apart from Lila I don't know why she bothered with her other 'friends'. She was the outcast. The freak. I do think it was a bit o.t.t. that the whole school thought this but okay.. I'll look over that tidbit.
I LOVED the concept of this book, and I was worried it was gunna let me down from my expect

I just!... Wow. Love. 5 star! Bravo!
I LOVED the concept of this book, and I was worried it was gunna let me down from my expectations. It did not! I'm not the saying the book was completely perfect.. But it was gripping, swoon worthy, heart wrenching, happy, romantic, shocking, and so much more. I could not put it down and I want to get straight into the next one!
Madison 'Maddy' Montgomery **Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love. Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder.** Maddy surprised me a lot in this book. At first I thought she was pretty bland, I understand that she had a lot on her mind with her helping out her uncle on shifts at the diner and homework and application forms to college, but I wish she just loosened up a little! I'm getting tired of the heroines in YA books at the moment being shy, limited friends and keeps to herself. There is nothing wrong with a strong heroine people! It won't make the book any less sucky.. And I think it would be more relatable because come on, who doesn't like to fantasise your the main character? And due to this I felt shocked and dubious to when tsp he starts getting all ballsy with Jackson. *swoooon* Because when there in the club and Maddy tells Victoria to bugger off basically, I thought, "Yeah you go guurl!" Which it could've been throughout.. Unfortunately, it was rare. So hopefully, *fingers crossed*, she will grow some balls in the second book.
NOW, the moment we've been waiting for... Jackson Godspeed
[image]
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! He's just... He's so... *drooling* *wiping drool* ...everything you want in a book boyfriend. Okay, so he's incredibly HAWT! But he's also not materialistic. So yeah, he has the nice car and the big house, but he doesn't care for that sort of stuff and just has them because he can, not because his life revolves around possessions. And he's just genuinely a nice guy, feeling out of place in a world with angels where he should rightfully belong. So he discards these feelings until he meets Maddy where he can't shake the feeling anymore. Not when her presence has brought to light the true feeling of knowing someone likes/loves you for you and not because your 'Jackson Godspeed'. Not that he would've known when she gives him a telling off and tells him to leave her alone, which I have to hand it too her, not even the most will powered woman would do. I would count myself included.
"You don't want to?" She said at last. His eyes flashed. "Of course I do. It's just more complicated... For us, Maddy. There's a lot more to it." ....... "Will you explain it to me sometime?" Maddy asked in a quiet voice. "What else there is to it. For... You." Jacks smiled. "I promise. Later."
I'm waiting.... I NEEDS TO KNOW!
Althought I loved this book, it could've been way better. For starters, no one proofed read the book. Pet hate. It doesn't take a genius to sort these errors out. I also have another pet hate for POVs that suddenly cut from one person to the other without introduction. It's was so frustrating and annoying having to re-read sentences as I read the, in the wrong character because it would literally swap mid paragraph to the other character without so much as a hello. It was confusing. And also having no POV by having some scenes in narrative that when it suddenly had Jacksons POV appear, it left me wondering if he was talking about himself in 3rd person? Overall it confused me. It you want to write a book with multiple POVs then make it clear whose talking! Preferably rotating each paragraph. Seriously. Annoying. Also I would have thought that the dark angel would look human seeing as the angels did? Anyone else? ... Yeah I thought so. And on a parting note, for the next book, add 100 more pages for detail. I felt that detail was added where it wasn't needed (I know what a big city looks like and it was pointless description), and not enough where I felt the book was skipping scenes. It's a book. Not a movie. These things are important!
Please have this shit sorted for the next book. Overall, very much enjoyed.

It would be completely accurate for me to say that I have NEVER read a book like this in my life! Forbidden is the very definition of sexual tension. BIt would be completely accurate for me to say that I have NEVER read a book like this in my life! Forbidden is the very definition of sexual tension. Before reading this book I was preparing myself for something similar to 'Flowers in the attic'. Come from a dysfunctional family, children have to stick together, a shitty neglectful mother and the two eldest siblings being forced with the role of being the parents. Pretty much sounded the same to me.. Right? But oh was I wrong!
The characters were believable.. Okay, YES i admit it, some did get on my nerves like the shitty alcoholic mother trying to cling to her youth, Kit; the rebellious, drinking, smoking thirteen year old brother, and I even have to admit that Lochan's painfully annoying shyness! Like come on, your 17, hot, incredibly smart but can't manage to cope with making one friend?! *dubious look* Despite these traits, or due to these traits, I could feel and relate to Lochan and Maya and how they must have been feeling with all that pressure and stress which only made me grow more sympathetic and closer to the characters.
Despite the whole incest side of the book, I couldn't help but just feel down right sorry for them! There was just so much frustration; from the family, responsibilities, work, money, school, revision, exams, and lets not forget the sexual frustration! Need I go on...? I just wanted them to be together just so they have at least one thing in there lives that they want!
But ALAS! It was all too good to be true.. I just can't get over the ending. I really can't! I have never writer a review for ANYTHING before. EVER! (So forgive me if I'm rusty) But I just felt compelled to write down my feelings from this book! Now if that doesn't say you should read this book right away then I don't know what will?
Im not really sure what the messages of this book is about? That sex is bad and bad things happen because of it? Or that incest shouldn't be illegal? This book leaves me rattled. (Not in a bad way.. Just that it makes you realise there's so many thin lines between right and wrong and are they worth crossing?)
I guess what I took from it was that perhaps if people weren't so intolerant and judgmental, others wouldn't be driven to self-destruction so easily....more
