They were cute together and liked the tie ins with the other books Jimenez wrote before this. Overall, recommended!

I did like seeing Eli and Rue with thier separate friend groups, and seeing more of thier characters that way. This is also much more spicy than her other books.

Truly acted rather childish about her parents as well. I understand her being upset, but I don't feel like a 27 year old would throw a tanturm to her parents like she did. Overall, I did enjoy the banter and chemistry between Truly and Colin.

This series had none of the issues of The Chemical Garden- All the characters here were fully realized, the plot was very quick moving and the relationships felt real. I love Pen and Morgan's friendship, they are the best friends everyone hopes they can be and find and it is not always roses for them, but they stick together and stay friends. Even knowing they are going to be going their separate ways, they know they will meet up again. Basil and Morgan are great together as well, there really need to be more relationships like that in books. He cares for her and she for him, and he leaves her all the space she needs to grow, while always being there when she needs him. He never judges her and always respects her. They are an adorable couple! Thomas and Pen have a more complicated relationship, but they are still there for each other, and Thomas also never ever judges. Pens revelation about her father was absolutely heart breaking and made all her shell and drinking make so much sense. Morgan reaction to it is so well written too, she is there for Pen, but will never force her to talk about it. I just can not say enough about this book, and about Lauren DeStefano's writing. There is some purple prose, but near as much as Chemical Garden, but where it is in this one, it's so great. I'll leave my kindle highlights public so y'all can see for yourself!

It was much tighter on the pacing than either novel so far, and had less obsession than Destroy Me. Have hopes for Ignite Me being good.
