FlI love me some Sabrina Jeffries but this book hit different and not in a good way. It was flat. That is the word that comes to mind with this book. Flat. The Duke of Greycourt was flat one one-dimensional. Beatrice also flat. Their relationship super boring, at times cringy, and completely flat. I felt nothing between them. Some of the words used to detail sexy time was gross, and laughably bad. I did like Bea's brother and Grey's sister and I will read their book, but if it's like this one I will be stopping this series. Overall it wasn't a bad read but it wasn't a good one either. Hopefully Joshua and Gwyn will be better. ...more

I liked Nash and Maddie's story better than Holt and Wren. I was really feeling this book for most of it. CC seems to be following a pattern in these books, but some times formulated plots work for me. I don't know how I feel about this formula yet. I really dislike the hero acting scared. Still there is something about this series that keeps me wanting to read more. The reason It dropped from a 5 to a 4 star read for me was the amount of bad guys. I mean come on how many crazy asses are out to kill someone? If it was just her ex and her dad ok but the end with the surprise bad guy was just too damn much. On to the next book! ...more
So Whispers of You was my first book by Catherine Cowles, and I really enjoyed it. I liked her writing style and the flow of the book. I liked all the characters and the bond they shared. I felt the book did a great job of grabbing you from the start and hooking you. I was invested in Wren and Holt's life. I was rooting for their love. I was hurting with them over the all the loss. I will say that I felt there was some depth and background missing. I needed more backstory. Like where the hell was Wren's parents? It was said they left her all the time and traveled, but where were they when she was shot? Did they come home? Did they just disappear like a fart in the wind? That should have been hashed out better to give more depth to the hurt of parental abandonment. Also I would have liked a bit more backstory of the couple. Moments in their life to deepen the connection in the readers eyes. I wanted to feel their love and the pain of them being parted not just read about it. I loved them as a couple, but depth would have made me connect more to them. I did feel their love but I wanted more.
The other thing that kept this from being a 5 star read for me was Holt's 10 year disappearance. It was way too long for a man to stupidly blame himself for something that was obviously not his fault. I could see him running at first. He was young and that would be traumatic for anyone. I could understand maybe being gone while in the army, but 10 full years was super overkill. It cheapen his love for her and their connection overall. At least it did in my eyes. I did love that his family was there for her, loving her and helping her through the pain and healing. One of the things I hate in contemporary romance is the miscommunication. When they don't say what they mean, or share their feelings. It's not realistic when they don't talk things out like every normal adult human in the real world does. It drives me crazy. So I was pleasantly surprised that Wren was open and honest. That they talked and shared as a couple. That what they said was relatable. I loved being able to read a book and not scream "No One talks like that" it was refreshing lol.
The suspense in this book was great. The mass shooting was a relevant topic, but it was hard to read. Again there was a huge missed opportunity for the author to show the slow and painful road to recovery for Wren. Still I never seen the killer coming. OMG (view spoiler)[ Jude was the master mind. Amber was a shock too. (hide spoiler)] I was so shocked. Overall a really good read. I can't wait to read all the other sibling's stories. ...more

There were parts I really loved. There were parts that I thought were unrealistic and hard to believe for the time period. I loved both the h and h but I felt we never got a in-depth look at them as persons. It was very hard to get into the story when something I knew wouldn't ever happen in that time period would happen. Overall it wasn't a great read or a bad one. I would try this author again. ...more

I enjoyed this book, but as much as I love Nesta she was a huge buzz kill in this book. I didn't like how she was sleeping around. I know she and CassI enjoyed this book, but as much as I love Nesta she was a huge buzz kill in this book. I didn't like how she was sleeping around. I know she and Cass aren't together, but there is something there and she felt it too. Now she is fucking her way through night court to push him away. I don't like that she is hurting him. I hope she gets her shit together in the next book. I also hope we get a (view spoiler)[Rhys and Feyre baby (hide spoiler)] There were some sweet moments. Some really cute moments and some sad ones. OMG OMG OMG this book was so fucking good. While reading this book I resented having to sleep, eat, feed my family, go to the bathroom, or anything that took me away from this book. From the start to the end I was consumed. I haven't got into and fangirled over a new series for a few years now. I know Acotar isn't new but it's new to me and I was wowed. I have a feeling I am going to have a hella book hangover after this series.
I knew something was off about Tamlin in book one. I liked him but I didn't love him and I thought Feyre should have been with Rhys. I am so glad I called that one. Tamlin was such a dick face in this book. I do get that he was having a hard time too and I sure there was some PTSD from being under the mountain, but it didn't excuse the way he acted. He was such a douche bag. I believe Tamlin loves Feyre, but he was so toxic he destroyed that love. Still I can't believe how low he went. To side with a evil king, betray Feyre, and try to force Feyre to come to him even knowing that she was Rhys' mate makes me so glad that Feyre is going to fuck his shit up.
Rhys and Feyre were so epic together. I loved everything about them and their relationship. The way they bickered and played with each other. The honest love and care that they both showed each other. Rhys not only gave Feyre what she needed to heal but he believed in her. His support of her helped make her a stronger person. The sexual tension between Rhys and Feyre was off the chart. Feyre grew so much in this series. I love strong women so seeing Feyre go from a shell with depression and ptsd to this warrior fighting for herself, her mate and her people gave me all the girl power feels.
OMG Cassian and Azriel were so yummy. I really hope they both get their own book and a HEA. The fact that Mor and Amren were women of power in Rhys' court also made me happy. I would like them to get books too. I hated the mortal queens and my heart broke for what they did to the Golden queen. I hope they get theirs in the end. I still really like Nesta even though she is still a total bitch. I know it's wrong but I was glad Nesta and Elain got turned high Fae. The whole end with Feyre going with Tamlin like a mole in the spring court camp I can't wait to see how she burns that shit to the ground. However she better not cheat on Rhys or I will be pissed off. This book was action packed. It had great world and relationship development. Believable character growth and a beautiful love that felt deep and real making this book amazing. I am loving this series so much. I can't wait to see what happens next....more
Ok going into this read I was worried I would hate Josh but I didn't. I loved him. I did get annoyed with him and his push/pull song and dance, but I Ok going into this read I was worried I would hate Josh but I didn't. I loved him. I did get annoyed with him and his push/pull song and dance, but I understood it. Also he was never a asshole that lashed out he was just scared. I loved Deals. She was so strong, honest and brave. I love that she spoke her mind, was honest with Josh, and fought for the man she loved. I enjoyed this book but it also broke my heart. I truly felt Josh and Deals pain all through this book. If you read this book I want to give a spoiler warning for some triggers(view spoiler)[ Death of a ex in front of mc, miscarriage and loss ptsd (hide spoiler)] I loved Deals and Josh as a couple they were very cute together. It was nice to get a bit more of Oliver and Alex in this book. I seen that the next book is Oliver, and that is the last book in the series. Does that mean Alex isn't getting a book? Overall a great read. One to the next book!...more
