This book captures the intensity of wild fires perfectly. It's very addicting and dark, and I couldn't put it down. I think that a lot of people will really like this book, but it hit a little too close to home for me. Reading this stressed me out, thinking about all the times I packed bags growing up in case we had to evacuate because of a fire. Overall, this book was very well-written, but it just wasn't for me.

It turns out there was no need for concern, because I loved this book just as much as all of her others. This book is a bit of a departure from her other books; the main focus is family, and, while there are hints at a romance, that plot takes on a much less significant role than in her other books. Save the Date is centered around all the members of Charlie Grant’s family coming home for her oldest sister’s wedding. There is a lot of wedding drama and family drama, but this book still manages to be very funny and lighthearted. I absolutely love reading about sibling relationships, mostly because I have no siblings and I’ve always wanted them. Charlie and her siblings were so fun to read about, and this book gave me a lot of Penderwicks vibes, which is one of my favorite series. There are a lot of characters in this book, and all of them are so fleshed out and developed that I had no trouble keeping them all straight in my head. Charlie is probably Morgan Matson's most flawed main character; she made bad choices and did things that I didn't agree with, which I actually really liked seeing. Making bad choices is a pretty standard part of being a teenager, and I loved watching Charlie grow and learn from her mistakes. Overall, I adored this book, and I can't wait to read whatever Morgan Matson writes next!...more

(view spoiler)[I can understand why people are upset that Skye and Jeffrey didn't end up together, but I honestly think it was for the best. Skye has made it clear over and over again throughout the series that she does not have romantic feelings for Jeffrey, and I think that them ending up together would have required disregarding four books of development. Skye and Jeffrey didn't want the same things, and I think them being together would have felt forced and more like fan wish-fulfillment than a genuine ending. The idea of Jeffrey and Batty as a couple had never occurred to me before this book, but I actually liked how their story wrapped up, and I think they make a good match. The main thing I wanted from this book was a Rosalind and Tommy wedding. I have been rooting for them since the beginning, and even though I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to see the actual wedding, I was happy that it was Rosalind and Tommy getting married. Overall, I can see why people didn't like this book, but I thought it was the perfect ending to one of my favorite series (hide spoiler)]...more
