Josie was an extremely irritating narrator. Nothing was ever her fault, everyone who wronged her (for no reason) always realized how wrong they were and apologized profusely, and everyone who didn't wrong her was under the impression that she was some sort of genius (again, for no reason). Everything was way too convenient, everything came so easily to Josie, and her internship and job were some of the most unrealistic shit I have ever seen. ...more

My three favorites were The Feeling From Over Here by Gabrielle Tozer, Missing Persons be Ellie Marney, and Sundays by Melissa Keil. Most of the ones that didn't work for me were the sci-fi and fantasy stories, which I just have a hard time getting into with so few pages to explain the context of the world. I also just tend not to like stories set in space because they always remind me of that one episode of Spongebob where Spnongebob and Patrick take Sandy's rocket to the moon but they're not actually on the moon and they capture all of their friends because they think that they're aliens. Anyway, that's obviously a me problem and doesn't say anything about the quality of these stories. Overall, I really enjoyed this collection, and I have some new authors I'm excited to check out.

I guess the twist was supposed to be shocking, but I was so underwhelmed by the ending and there was basically no resolution at all. I skimmed all the chapters about boxing and Sojourner, and by the 75% mark I was skimming everything....more
