“ The most important thing to remember is that getting what you want doesn’t make you happy. Happiness is more about appreciation than acquisition.”
Another all nighter read from Mrs. Centers! I love her writing style and her ability to catch my attention with her quirky characters and humor. I really enjoyed Happiness for Beginners- and as always, learned something new while laughing and being entertained. Centers is officially one of my favorite rom-com authors. She keeps it mostly clean and always makes her characters dig deep within themselves to find their purpose. I’m excited to watch the movie now- Highly recommend! ...more

I’m turning into a Centers junkie. I’m currently binging every book she’s written. I love her writing style, and a good rom com is sometimes just what a girl needs!

Loved the writing, with a twist you don’t see coming until it happens. It plays out like a new Netflix series in your head, that you just can’t help but binge. ( I bet and wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up making it into one!!)So many thoughts and feels. This book includes adult themes and language but due to the subject matter and plot of the book it fit. This one will stay on my mind for a long time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final word. ...more

Can you say Ireland? Ahhh... what a beautiful atmosphere for a book! I really enjoyed this first installment of The Dragon Heart Legacy. It was fast paced with beautiful world building. It follows main character Breen, who is a young teacher drowning in student loans and living with her best friend Marco in Philadelphia. Her mother has always made her feel like she wasn't good enough to do much and in order to get ahead she must continue to stay immersed in her work of teaching.
Breen is house sitting for her mother, while she is away on a retreat and somehow comes across some bank statements that reveal Breen actually has a pretty hefty inheritance that her long lost father has built up for her over the years. This starts a spiral and journey of self discovery as Breen takes a trip to her fathers homeland of Ireland. There she finds a whole lot more than she expected.
Nora Roberts has a way of reeling you in and letting you immerse in her words which transport you to wherever she commands. I love the way she writes and makes you take it all in. Full of likeable characters and DRAGONS ....

Although, I will admit- there were a few things that weren't my favorite tropes in the book, that didnt change my overall view of the story. I look forward to reading the next book of the series!

Picked this up at the library on a whim- didnt really know what to expect but I really liked the artwork so I thought I would give it a go. I was not disappointed. It was so cute and such a fun storyline. It reminded me a lot of the Amulet Series also a graphic novel that I highly recommend! Can be read in one sitting. Great for Middle Grades :)
Edmund and the Childe were swapped at birth. Now Edmund lives in secret as a changeling in the World Above, his fae powers hidden from his unsuspecting parents and his older sister, Alexis. The Childe lives among the fae in the World Below, where being a human makes him a curiosity at the royal palace.

I really enjoyed this read! It reminded me of The Kiss Quotient - minus all the sex talk. You see Abigail/Liz was so much like Stella from TKQ except her mother "built" her to be smart and the perfect daughter. She doesn't really have many social skills. She knows Data and Facts. She also has a Eidetic memory (which is basically a photographic memory) and can see and remember things word for word that happen.
I found Abigail to be likable and I rooted for her to find love. She was horribly, mentally abused by her mother and she didn't even realize it. She meets Brooks in her new town and he doesn't let much get past him. I found the plot to be well thought out and executed. I just love Nora Roberts writing and her story telling would 100 % recommend this one !!
Daughter of a controlling mother, Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking at a nightclub and allowing a strange man's seductive Russian accent lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever.
Twelve years later, the woman known as Abigail Lowery lives on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she designs sophisticated security systems -- and supplements her own security with a fierce dog and an assortment of firearms. She keeps to herself, saying little, revealing nothing. But Abigail's reserve only intrigues police chief Brooks Gleason. Her logical mind, her secretive nature, and her unromantic viewpoints leave him fascinated but frustrated. He suspects that Abigail needs protection from something -- and that her elaborate defenses hide a story that must be revealed. ...more

You’re riding in your self-driving car when suddenly the doors lock, the route changes and you have lost all control. Then, a mysterious voice tells you, “You are going to die.”
4 Stars!!!
Just as self-driving cars become the trusted, safer norm, eight people find themselves in this terrifying situation, including a faded TV star, a pregnant young woman, an abused wife fleeing her husband, an illegal immigrant, a husband and wife, and a suicidal man.
From cameras hidden in their cars, their panic is broadcast to millions of people around the world. But the public will show their true colors when they are asked, "Which of these people should we save?...And who should we kill first?"
Whew! Had a great Buddy Read with my Friend Beejay for this book. I always love a good buddy read and this one was a fun book to talk about while reading.
The Passengers was thrilling- at times made me anxious and totally fearful of future tech. The book starts off a little slow while we are putting all the pieces together. But eventually picks up and doesn't stop until the end.
Each character comes from a different place and all different walks of life. They all have their own "skeletons" in the closet- that eventually everyone in the world will find out about. Jam packed with a roller coaster of emotions, and an ending you will not expect!! I highly recommend ! ...more

Shelby McIntyre has big plans--plans that include finding Mr. Right. Her dream man will have a clean-shaven jaw, creases in his pants and hopefully and advanced degree. What she gets is rugged Luke Riordan.
5 Stars!!!
At twenty-five, after five years as her mother's caregiver, it's time for Shelby to experience freedom and adventure. Time for travel, college and romance. But when she visits Virgin River, she runs into Luke Riordan, decidedly not whom she has in mind.
A handsome Blackhawk pilot, Luke exited the army after twenty years, four wars and having been shot out of the sky three times. At thirty-eight he's tough and jaded. His major was in one-night stands, with a minor in commitment avoidance.
Technically, these two are all wrong for one another. But sometimes what you want and what you need are two different things...two very good things.
This story was another great one! We have a younger woman, Shelby who is in virgin river for a short time while she works out where she is headed next in life. At 25- she has spent the last 5 years taking care of her sick mother. She willing took those 5 years to care for her mother and she would not have had it any other way. The problem with being busy for most of your twenties, is not having much time for relationships with the opposite sex. When she sees Luke, things start to shift.
Luke at 38, thought he knew what he wanted, after being hurt early by a girl while he was in the marines, he thinks love is lost... until Shelby walks into Jacks Bar.
As usual this installment was just as good as the others! All the other character arcs are at play along side the new characters. We get to see how everyone else is getting along while getting a peak into Shelby and Lukes Romance. I enjoyed it so much! ...more

For both Zane and Darby, their small town roots hold a terrible secret. Now, decades later, they've come together to build a new life. But will the past set them free or pull them under?
Zane Bigelow grew up in a beautiful, perfectly kept house in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. Everyone thinks his family is perfect. Only Zane and his sister know the truth, until one brutal night finally reveals cracks in the facade, and Zane escapes for college without a thought of looking back...
Years later, Zane returns to his hometown determined to reconnect with the place and people that mean so much to him, despite the painful memories. As he resumes life in the colorful town, he meets a gifted landscape artist named Darby, who is on the run from ghosts of her own.
Together they will have to teach each other what it means to face the past, and stand up for the ones they love.
What an emotional roller-coaster !! I will start off by saying I usually do not include trigger warnings in my reviews- but this one definitely calls for one . There is a lot of abuse in this book- it was hard to read but worth every minute of it.
The author takes her time building the story. She allows you to gain a connection to the characters and as they grow, you are right there along for the ride. I can not say enough good things about this book. It hits a place inside your soul and makes you appreciate things you may never have before....more

Ross Poldark returns from war expecting to be reunited with his father, and the girl that holds his heart. But thats not the case. His father is dead, and Elizabeth is engaged to his cousin Francis. Fast Forward a little and he meets a girl named Demelza who changes everything.
I love these books and the show!! Its absolutely right up my alley with political agendas and soap opera style drama. This is very much a word book.. and what I mean by that is that the wording and the way it is written, at times can be a little daunting but at the same time, so eloquent and beautiful. There were a few instances that the narrator changed or something would happen and I would get a little confused but for being an older novel it still packs a punch and delivers.
I fell in love with the story line and Ross. I mean really... ahem... how could you not??

Demelza- and that hair omg--- my favorite.

How far would you go to find The One?
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you’ll be matched with your perfect partner—the one you’re genetically made for.

That’s the promise made by Match Your DNA. 10 years ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.
Now five very different people have received the notification that they’ve been “Matched.” They’re each about to meet their one true love. But “happily ever after” isn’t guaranteed for everyone. Because even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking than others…
This is my second John Marrs book. I just recently read The Good Samaritan by him and if you haven't read it - what are you doing?!?! GO READ IT- anyways I now want to read all his books!! I came across this one and ... The premise was so intriguing - I couldn't help but get my hands on it and I was not disappointed!!
This is one of the most unique books that I have read in a while. It is told from multiple POVs - but dont let that get you down because it worked! It flowed nicely and keeps you on the edge of your seat!! You become completely addicted to the drama that is unfolding in each characters life and its all consuming.
I could not imagine this happening in real life. I see the benefits of it but I feel like this would be more of a disaster than anything. It sounds nice until it starts screwing with peoples lives and families. It is a crazy concept and I absolutely loved all the twists and turns!!

Nick a 4 Stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
In 1986, 15 yr old- boy-genius Nick Hayes discovers he’s dying. And it isn’t even the strangest thing to happen to him that week.
Nick and his Dungeons & Dragons-friends are used to living in their imaginations. But when Mia, joins the group reality becomes weirder than the fantasy world they visit in their weekly games. A strange—yet familiar—man is following Nick, with abilities that just shouldn’t exist. And this man claims: Mia’s in grave danger, though she doesn’t know it yet. She needs Nick’s help—now.
He finds himself in a race against time to unravel an impossible mystery and save the girl. And all that stands in his way is cancer, and the laws of physics.
I know absolutely nothing about physics- nor do I really care. I dont really like sci-fi either.. while this book had a sci-fi stranger things type feel to it- it wasn't. The characters talk about things that went over my head- but again, I didn't care because something about these characters cling to you while reading.
Lawrence has a way of writing characters that you love and you do not even care what the big picture is. The depth of them keeps you moving. I found this book to be character driven but also had a great plot and beginning. I felt it was interesting without being boring- even with subject matter I could care less about. There was so much more happening in this story!! I absolutely loved MC Nick, Mia and Demis :P And look forward to seeing what else this series has to offer!...more

Anna Morgan has no choice. Resting on a park bench, touching the turnstile at the Metro station—she never knows where she’ll encounter a ghost. She doesn't have a choice. The ghosts are the reason that Anna is thrown from one foster home to the next and in and out of psych wards.
When a touch of the hand leads her to pick up the ghost of a girl who was murdered- things start to get real serious for Anna. Shes thrown into a government conspiracy, which causes Anna to throw up every wall she has ever built around her mind. But they really cross the line when they kidnap her friend, causing her to be pushed to the limits.

This was a really cool YA book!! It reminded me of the show The Gifted- and X-Men. It has a paranormal vibe to it more than anything.
I felt immediately drawn to Anna and really enjoyed being in her head. Although- I could not imagine having to live with her ability, it was neat to read it. The book starts out with this girl Molly getting in her head. She was murdered and wants Anna to help her solve it before others can get hurt or killed.
What starts out as a murder mystery, quickly morphs into a paranormal thriller. I loved that aspect of it. There were more characters than the synopsis provides. The story is about more than just Anna. I really enjoyed a few of the side characters. There is a love interest in this installment and I am totally rooting for my ship to sail!!
