This is the story of Henry, a thirteen-year-old transgender girl, waiting for her letter, waiting for a magical world to invite her in. Unfortunately, the letter never comes. But it does for her little sister, Gabriele. And so Henry feels rejected, unwanted.
And yet, this story is about accepting yourself and making yourself home in a world you don't necessarily feels comfortable in at first. Henry doesn't let the human world bring her down, she's determined to be happy and find her place. And she does, because she never gives up.

I have some things to say about this book. First, I liked the friendship between Michael and Nunzio, they've been friends since they're 12, for 20 yearI have some things to say about this book. First, I liked the friendship between Michael and Nunzio, they've been friends since they're 12, for 20 years, and they're still there for each other. With them, the other matters so much that everything and everyone around them can't compare to what they have. Then we have baby Raymond, Mikey's little brother, this adorable yet sometimes scary kitty cat. At first I kinda disliked him, because he was just being lazy, but when he finally starts taking care of himself I was like 'yes babe, you go and do your thing !' And I can't wait to - I hope - read more about him in book 2. From the beginning, I knew Nunzio was a 100% in love with Michael, it's just there for everyone to see, but Mikey... sometimes I wanted to put his head through a wall and put some sense into it. That's why I wasn't a huge fan of the first half of this book, because basically it's Michael going back and forth between 'am I only attracted sexually to Nunzio ?' and 'oh shit I want something more with my best friend' and it was infuriating. Michael has a great life, but it's like he can't stand being happy and just finds way to fuck up his life. But the second half was SO much better. Okay, some really bad shit happens, but it looks like Michael needed this bad shit to finally see that he's messing up with everything that's good in his life. And that's what I wanted to read about: Michael fighting for what he loves, for who he wants to be. This second part was soooo emotional I was on the verge of tears half the time. Can't wait to read the second book :D 3.75

Of course I would have loved him if he had been gay, but him being bi means a lot to me, and the way his bisexuality was handled in the book was realistic. We don't live in a world in which bisexuality is fucking well accepted. Nah, that would be too easy. And Ray struggles a lot, not with his sexuality, but with the way people judge his sexuality. Once, David said Ray was semistraight, and I love David, but I wanted to break his nose. Or when he was scared because what if Ray one day realizes that he's not into guys after all and was just fooling around ? What if this and what if that ? And Ray explained to someone that he felt like, to David, he wasn't gay enough. And that's the thing: being bisexual doesn't mean you're half gay and half straight. You're fully bisexual, even if you're with a boy, and even if you're with a girl. And the way this book handles these subjects was so well done, it warmed my heart. I wasn't a huge fan of David in the first book, but in this one.... TOUCH HIM AND I WILL PUT YOUR HEAD THROUGH A WALL. YES I'M TALKING TO YOU CALEB. You get my point, no ? He's just this really adorable guy who's trying his best to not mess up with the friendship Ray and him created, he's trying really hard. And he's so kind, and gentle, and clearly he doesn't deserve half the shit he receives. I understand why he was so afraid to be with Ray, because he's out and proud, and of course he doesn't have to be someone's secret, he deserves not to be someone's secret. He wants to do the right things, and sometimes he makes mistakes, but he's always trying to do better. And I loved his parents, they were just amazing ! I really really really liked this book, I care so much about Ray & David, I love them and I want to read more about them in the future :) 4.5

I really really liked Kieran. I was afraid he would be this shy trans guy uncomfortable with his body... but he wasn't. He's trans, he's gay, he wears his pronouns pin because he deserves not to be misgendered all day long. But guess what, he is. Okay he has long hair - because he likes it that way - and a high-pitched voice - that he also likes - but that doesn't mean he should be misgendered as a girl. Because he's not. And if he wants to keep his hair long, that's his choice, and it still doesn't give you the right to call him 'she'. And there is one person fighting for Kieran: Seth, our precious bisexual king who won't accept that people still think that Kieran is a girl. And that's something you cannot not love about Seth. Throughout the story, he's the one correcting people when they don't use the good pronouns, he's the one trying to raise awareness about transgender people so this work place can be safe for them. Since day one, he's showing that he cares about Kieran and his happiness. This story was amazing, I learned so many things about the trans community, and that made me realize that I knew nearly nothing about what it's like after you realize that you're trans. That's something you don't learn about in school books, so I'm glad books like this one exist. 4.25

Because this is what happened to me while I was reading this ridiculously adorable story.
This is cutest and dorkiest story about Jalen, a genderqueer movie major, and P, a transgender boy. Both love absolutely horrible sci-fi movies, and somehow this is all they need to start liking each other.
This story is about understanding who you are, being utterly happy because someone who gets you is there by your side, but also a story about being scared of what's to come because life is scary af. This short, only 44 pages, but I felt like I knew both Jalen and P, I learnt to love them so damn quickly. I cared about them and their happiness.
Please please please, read this. There is an important discussion on gender and I LOVED IT SO MUCH.

I had read the synopsis, but it’s one of those that only truly—and purposefully—makes sense once you are a third of the way through. And it works for this book.
There is something deeply special about reading a book so ingrained into Polish folklore. No matter how gruesome the story was at times, it felt comforting.
Dymitr is such a peculiar character because although you might not understand him right from the beginning, you cannot help but root for him and find admiration in his harsh softness.
This is one of those novellas I hope turns into a series, à la Murderbot, because I simply want more. We got a glimpse of this world, of its magic, but I now want to spend more time with Dymitr, Ala and Niko. There’s so much left unsaid and undiscovered. (4.18)...more

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this comic at midnight because my favourite author had recommended it. Well, I'm so glad II had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this comic at midnight because my favourite author had recommended it. Well, I'm so glad I gave it a try. It was everything I had been waiting and didn't know I needed in my life. It's basically about a bunch of queer teens in the 50's, they're in 3 different gangs and they're just hilarious and amazing. Please please, read it. If you want a comic with a lesbian sweetheart, a pansexual girl, a demisexual/demiromantic boy, a gay dork, a genderqueer baby, a transgender girl, an asexual/aromantic boy and several sapphic ladies, read this please. And like, all the characters aren't white, there are several black and latinx main characters. It made me s happy, damn.
