Wow, it made me want to pick up everything else the author has written for MG, because it's got to be good, too, right? I think Pixel + Ink was genius for picking this up from him because it fits so well as a series. The best part for me was the action scenes in the 2nd half of the book. Wow, they were so so good. I read a lot of Anthony Horowitz, and the scenes were practically as good! I cannot wait for #2 in the series, and I hope it's also action-packed, because the author did that so well in this one. And what a unique idea for a series, too. And I actually liked learning the history-ish history! (He said most of it was real; he just changed a few things.)
I have one small thing to say. I don't think the characters had super distinct voices. Yes, I know Ike is the blabber/frustrated one for sure and Iris is more steady. But in some characters I'd be like, oh yeah, I could see Ike saying that and then find out it was an Iris chapter. Or vice versa. ...more

(Granted, I understand my opinion might change later than when I just finished it.) I am sad I cannot read it again without knowing what happens. If I could do it all over again, I would read the ending first. It's a book about the present and the future; shouldn't I have read the future first so I could pick up on some things in the present?! Well, I would suggest reading 224-253 somewhere in the middle of the book rather than at the end.
Also, I'm reading The Enigma Girls by Candace Fleming right now, and I think that book was helpful to me. No spoilers!...more

Can I give it 6 stars? The alternating chapters and cliff hangers were great. I think middle schoolers can access this book, so I'm saying Newbery contender. It has a fascinating plot that sucks you in, the characters develop in weird sci-fi ways, and the themes of life and what it means to be human are well-delineated....more

It was so engaging and had such good chapter endings that you really could never stop. I imagine if this was a readaloud in a late elementary/early middle school that kids would never want the readaloud to end. I cannot believe that there is not already a book deal for Logan Foster #3. This book deserves all the sequels. It wrapped everything up really well as if there never would be a book 3 but amazingly still left things open that could become a book 3. ...more

There are so many moments that were memorable due to the humor. I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait for the sequels.
