Sadly I didn't love this as much as the first, but I'm still very intrigued with the next books. ...more

We follow a young girl Lynn as she’s living in a secluded spot with just the survivors of her family. Not long into the story a man named Jacks finds his way to their home and they very reluctantly takes him in. It doesn’t take long before the story takes a turn and they find out someone, who calls themselve “Immunity” is looking for Jacks after he escaped their facilities.
I had an idea this was a dystopia, but as I started this I was afraid of how it was going to go - especially since it read very much like a YA and started a lot like other YA dystopians I’ve read. However it didn’t take very long before I noticed this was different - even if it was still a YA story. I liked the pace and found the situation they were in to be interesting to read about. As the novel went about I was sucked more into the story and I enjoyed Lynn as the main character for the most part.
I was pleasantly surprised about this book and happy I read it. ...more
Wow - What a book. I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing, and this was truly a ride.

We meet Corwin who in the beginning of this book wakes up in hospital after an accident, having no recollection of who he is, and what brought him there, all he knows is that he needs to get out of the hospital and fast. He finds out that his sister has taken care of hospital bills, and he seeks her out and find that he's part of a really big family that is royalty in a world called 'Amber' and things basically takes off from there.
I highly enjoyed this book. Zelazny's writing is pretty straightforward, but not in a bad way. He keeps the book engaging throughout and throws us into this world of Amber without much of explanations about the world, but let's us know about it slowly along with Corwin, and it keeps it very interesting.
I'm definitely eager to read on in the next book and find out what will happen....more

I enjoy the setting and the characters a lot. I like that we got to see some character development from Sarah and Frank. I was happy to see how their relationship is slowly developing over the books.
I enjoyed the mystery for the most part, though I did guess some of the things that happened in this book, I still enjoyed the process of finding out.
It also takes some part of this book discussing what option you had as a deaf/mute - which didn't have anything to do with the mystery, so that was a nice touch.
Overall still really enjoying this series, and look forward to read the next book.
