Okay, so here is the thing...I loved this book but I was hoping for more? More of what though, I cannot Hot twink meets kinky trucker meets road trip!
Okay, so here is the thing...I loved this book but I was hoping for more? More of what though, I cannot say. I just wanted it to be out of this world but instead it was just really, really good. I had been "saving" this one on my to-be-read shelf for when I absolutely needed pure awesomeness. After reading all of my friends reviews, I knew I was in for a treat. Maybe I had just built my expectations up to high.
I had previously read Dance With Me by this author and knew her writing was something special. There is an honest quality to her characters that makes them feel vividly real and Sam and Mitch are no exception.
I loved that the author put us in am unfamiliar setting and found the insight into the nomadic life of a trucker to be very interesting. As I neared the end of the book, I found myself wanting more time with these two on the road, traveling around North America, eating at diners and visiting landmarks. I loved that Sam spread a little bit of his mom's ashes in each of the special detours off the road that they made. It made her feel like a real part of the story and I could feel Sam's love for her more.
As far a Sam and Mitch's relationship, I'm not sure if it was just me but I had to keep reminding myself that Mitch wasn't as old as I was making him out to be! That aside, these boys were magic together...yin & yang. So perfect! Sam is everything that Mitch wants and has been seeking unsuccessfully in other men. Mitch is the perfect dom for Sam and he shows Sam that it's okay to want to feel...well, um...slutty and that it's not something he needs to be ashamed of. The sex between these two is smokin HOT!! As for the introduction of Randy...I am not a huge fan of threesomes, but I understood why it was needed in this story.
The ending had me worried but put a huge smile on my face by the time I read the last few words.
I have put off reading this book for some time now afraid that I would not be comfortable with the whole "slave" thing being forced on another guy allI have put off reading this book for some time now afraid that I would not be comfortable with the whole "slave" thing being forced on another guy all for the entertainment of a few drunken frat boys.
Boy was I wrong! Evangeline Anderson has a way, no matter what her subject matter, to make her readers comfortable enough to lose themselves in her stories. I tore through this book in a few hours and loved every minute of it.
Tony and Drew are magic together. After reading the opening scene of the book where Drew is getting reading to kill himself, I am nervous as heck and thinking what kind of story am I in for? What happened to this poor man to make him want to end his life? And do I want to be reading it?
The book then takes us ten years into the past where Drew is on the final day of Hell Week where we watch a scene play out that normally I would be cringing at but Evangeline does so tastefully, I am completely believing that these two man can actually develop a friendship and go on to be roomates and then eventually, lovers.
I give Mrs. Anderson props for how downright sexy her books are...she gets me every time!!! Tony is beyond unreal as a dominant over Drew and their chemistry is HOT, HOT, HOT! I loved the touch of paranormal in this story but was glad it did not overwhelm the book.
The ending takes us back to the future, on the brink of Drew's suicide attempt and I was biting my nails and praying for Tony to make it all better for Drew. The author did not disappoint and the ending was perfect and so, so satisfying! I will be re-reading this book again in the future and look forward to more of her writing!...more
