The whole dilemma of Preston wanting to be the only one to sexually interact with Rosie made it really funny because lucky for her, her porn wasn't published. Anyway, I quite liked the touch of French in the novel. It made it so much more enjoyable to read because of my basic knowledge of the language.

I liked the sordid and dark journey this book took me through. I could not for the life of me anticipate the next thing that would happen and I absolutely loved that. I am starting the gain an appreciation for Trisha Wolfe's novels. They are so meticulously detailed and believable, even in their own twisted way. I totally did not expect the ending, and it totally baffled me. I actually thought London and Grayson would end up together despite London being a doctor and Grayson a serial killer. But that would have been too unrealistic even though it was my most preferred outcome. Trisha doesn't give the reader what they want though, she gives us what we're lacking, what we need.

Ok so I hate that Im going to have to critically analyse this book for english extension because WTF THIS BOOK IS SO GODDAMN MISOGYNISTIC LIKE FAM??? AND THIS PRESCRIBED TO SCHOOLS??
So I was super uncomfortable with Belram because his view of woman is utter shit and he has questionable morals and my discomfort with his character may be entirely adhered to the fact that this book presents a shocking view of India, one that is entirely foreign to me and hence I may be subconsciously rejecting due to this fact.
BUT PLEASE oh my GOSH what THE HELL. The passage about young CHILD BRIDES of age 17 being tight and sweet like melons LIKE WHAT EXCUSE ME HUH? FUCKING PARDON??? And this IS A PRESCRIBED TEXT??? And this PURE iobjectification of women is probably never addressed in the syllabus so STUDENTS GO AROUDN READING THIS WITHOUT BEING MADE AWARE OF HOW FUCKE UP IT IS.

Even if this wasn’t a set text for my english classes, I would most definitely still read the book. Penelope’s voice was just so captivating and so much more understandable than the gallant prose of the Odyssey. I absolutely loved reading this book and it’s different interpretations of the events if the odyssey. It was absolutely incredible. And the chorus of the maids, just absolutely incredible. Again, loved the new interpretation of all that happened. Honestly, the last imagery of the maids, with their bulging outs and hanging tongues and twitching feet really stuck with me. Atwood genuinely made the maids injustice haunt me too. Just a lovely and incredible read....more
