I felt devastated, heart broken, fullfiled, and I knew there would rarely be a book series as good as this one was. But: be warned! There are too many trigger warnings. Do not even attempt it if you are going to bash it for the content it has. It is not a book series for the faint hearted despite the light hearted title! I already see teenagers pick it up and condemn it without even reading it properly, just because they thought they would understand it. No they don't. This is in all words: book for adults. Not just for the smut, but for the psychology in it. You will laugh, you will cry, but most of all, you will be emotionally damaged. You will say: why did i even need this in my life? Well. Did you need this pain and suffering? I ask you? Did you? But don't worry, at the end of all darkness there is always light. So, brace yourselves, if you decide to go for this series, be ready for a wild ride! Same review for the webnovel edition here. ...more |

For one, you don't even need the knowledge of anything, because the book will just throw most of the information you need right at you, so you could enjoy the book even going blind. It is also one of the rare hilarious books, considering the whole enemies who work and don't work together yet won't actually kill each other (or will they?). I have laughed so much, got invested so strongly into it, I just wish I had more time to read faster. Also audiobook adaptation is amazing. If you are fan of audiobooks, go for it, narrator is amazing and there's a fantastic voice acting right there. ► WORLD BUILDING: This is a book about Necrons, so some knowledge of Necrons might be good in advance. You could also watch TIMELINE of the 40K UNIVERSE by Trazyn the Infinite by WarriorTier to understand whole history of the universe because Necrons are a long lived race and this book spans a period right between 30k and 40k timeline. Unless you already are WH fan, and know of the history, then no more words are needed. ‘Let me state for the record,’ Phaerakh Ossuaria said. ‘That this is not officially a trial.’ ► STORY: Trazyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner, two Necron overlords, fight for discovery of a tomb that can only be opened in certain periods of time. Lots of bickering, backstabbing, actual cooperation, comedy, sadness, action and persistence that transcends through time until the end. And next to it, a necrodermis-sheet letter that had ejected from the device, along with the creatures. It bore the marks of alien mandibles, but was still legible. ► OVERALL: Highly recommend. The plot twists were great, the book is engaging and never boring, audiobook is phenomenal, and the whole story is well paced. Characters are fantastic. ...more |

This tale was a story of a reader who wanted to change its conclusion.⸥ ORVreview. txt (second revised edition after finishing) Now t Rating: 6/5 This tale was a story of a reader who wanted to change its conclusion.⸥ ORVreview. txt (second revised edition after finishing) Now that I am done with these books, let me tell you something: Have you ever seen a book so beautiful you started crying? Well feast your eyes and read this, because this book is a beautiful masterpiece that blends every single tvtrope being subverted or not, wisely uses everything - the characters, the setting, the modern media, the fantasy, horror, thriller... It's a huge bundle of emotions - that all comes down to one goal: survival. But, what point is there to survival if none of you are there to witness the end? (Best of all, it's fully translated!) At this point, I have so many feelings about this book. This is a perfect time loop, a perfect dystopia, a perfect apocalypse, and a perfect scenario. There are no plot holes because everything is so carefully written and even the smallest details can be connected to form a bigger picture. For example, chapter connections between 180+530 and so on and on. When I started reading this book, all I thought about was this: Will everything be explained? The answer is yes. It was done so damn well that there is no doubt that this can be considered a masterpiece. You have to have 2 huge galaxy brains like ShingShong to write something like this and not fail at connecting everything. Not just the story, but the characters in this one are stunning. Even though there are three main characters in the book, there are around 15 so called side characters - but they are all so well done that you could just straight up call them a group of deuteragonists instead. Everyone is highly developed, they have their own histories and best of all - they are all different and have huge difference in their personalities.
The female characters in this book are absolutely amazing. They are not shallow. They don't suffer from The Bechdel Test - they pass it gloriously. Such a wide variety of characters is stunning... There are really few authors that can pull of such a feat and I have read 1000 books already, so this is saying something about the the level of writing. STORY AND CHARACTERS: Omniscient reader's viewpoint is about Kim Dokja who once read a book. And that book has always been there for him - and it saved his life. He was the only follower of that book that has over 3100 chapters for 10 years. It's always been there for him, even through his ups and downs in life. And one day, it was completed - the last chapter of the story was finally published. But then, at the same time, same day, the world ended and the book he read about blended with the reality he was living in. What makes this whole book this damn interesting is exactly Kim Dokja. He knows everything of the world, he knows almost all about the creatures, but his strongest point is his knowledge of characters that are suddenly real people. And he knows how to manipulate them, how to make them help him and how to survive in this world and how to turn this new world and their rulers upside down. After all, the main runners of the show are Constellations: beings of amazing powers that chose their pawns to play with by giving them Stigma in order to survive the scenarios. They award them with coins in order to improve themselves and their abilities. And yet, no matter how much Kim Dokja abuses his knowledge of this world, he can't change one thing: the protagonist of this world is very hard to get on his side - and very hard to work together. Yoo Jonghyuk is stuck in a time loop (regression) that starts from the beginning of the scenarios every time he dies, and at the moment where he meets Kim Dokja, he is living through his third regression. And yet, Kim Dokja knows that YJH has survived dozen of regressions and every time he does, it changes him. YJH is prideful, loner and murderous man who doesn't really trust anyone anymore, but there is still that tiny bit inside him that screams that he doesn't want to stay alone... But whenever he dies, the world ends with him and thus for him... having relationships with others is waste of time and a burden on his feelings. (But Kim Dokja changes that). The other unknown variable are the real humans that have been dragged with him like his coworker Yoo Sangah (excellent at languages, hardworking, outstanding), one of his bosses Han Myungoh (who at first starts as a huge scum, but later changes to better), Lee Gilyoung (a child KDJ adopted and saved because he saw things and he just knew. LGY is a kid who was thrown into a really difficult situation). Kim Dokja cannot read through them and thus he needs to earn their loyalty and affections through his own actions. Meanwhile, book characters like Jung Heewon (someone who was never saved before, someone whose potential is so high she can slaughter the heavens), Lee Hyunsung (a soldier and a man who needs encouragement but is actually really brave, but he needs to break free from following orders), Lee Jihye (who has many issues due to trauma of her own survival through the first scenario) are someone that Kim Dokja can affect. Finally, there is also Han Sooyoung... the apparent third main character and her introduction is later in the novel so talking about her would have to go under spoilers. She's everything. She's sassy, bossy, and really smart and dedicated person who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals. And the best of all, the relationship of all three of the main characters. Of how they all fit the soulmate trope and how they all complete each other's life. In short, if one of them was removed from the picture, the others wouldn't be alive. That's how much they depend on each other. That's how much their stories, their lives, mean to each other. I sadly can't type everything about them because of spoilers, but... it's amazing. (I love one ugly rat with wings, one angel, one monkey king, one immature dragon, one regresso depresso sunfish bastard, one secretive bastard with a veil, one amazing author, one perfect collegue and adorable woman, one boss that becomes better, one righteous swordswoman, one soldier cutie bear, two kids I adopted (so did the rat), one Baaaht, one dokkaebi who is underestimated, one schoolgirl with wild imagination, one doctor that needs a break, one golden haired cutie, the smallest and the most powerful being in the universe, the huge half titan master, dogs, one forgotten sister, death god in love with his wife, his wife that kicks ass, one drunk god, one god with a train, and finally a 4th wall!)
OVERALL: Characters: 6/5 - Excellent, will make you scream and cry. One rat man especially and one sunfish. Side characters: 6/5 - Excellent and strong point of this book. They are a support and huge help and emotional crutch in this messed up world. Story: 6/5 - complex, unique, excellent world building. Humor and angst: 5/5 - do you want to cry a lot and feel sad and actually be happy. there you go. Warnings: (view spoiler)[rape mention, suicide, depression, dying a lot, domestic abuse (mentioned) and so on and on.... (hide spoiler)] ...more |

Final Rating: 5.5/5 “You know,” Carter said, “this is the point in horror movies where I usually shout at the screen for the people to not goFinal Rating: 5.5/5 “You know,” Carter said, “this is the point in horror movies where I usually shout at the screen for the people to not go inside the house.” Someone please inform me how do i even start writing out this review? In short, it's a very direct sequel to Wolfsong so be careful and don't skip books because you most certainly won't understand anything. So basically, read in order, okay? And i loved it more than I loved Wolfsong. I loved the way i heard Gordo's voice. I loved reading his perspective. I loved the fact that this author KNOWS how to write first person POV and do it right. How to tell stories of 12 characters through only one perspective and how to make them all feel real. How he writes their voices, their dialogues, how he implements the action and grief and hate and happiness through only one voice. That is how you write a book in first person. ►►► STORY & CHARACTERS: If we tried, I didn’t know if there’d be enough pieces of us left to put back together. It begins with Gordo. Gordo is an asshole, we all knew that. But we all love him too. He’s a man with many issues, who has been hurt and abandoned through years, and he stopped expecting anything less from people around him. His only safe people were his friends Tanner, Chris and Rico, and their newest employee Ox, who very soon became Gordo’s tether. A way to his sanity. But then the Bennets (the pack that left him behind; left him after he just lost his previous pack and family) came home and stole Ox from him…. It begins 1 year later after their return (brothers and Gordo’s) and it begins with their 3 years on the road. The road had been hard for everyone – for Joe who stopped speaking altogether; for Kelly and Carter who love each other but were close to tearing themselves to shreds; for Gordo, who was leaving Ox behind, leaving the way everyone did to him (and he’s leaving Mark, even though he would never accept it). They sang. It begins with them coming home and facing a new threat. A threat that is infecting all around them, while they slowly notice the violet eyes gathering around them. It begins with Robert Livingstone, who is still out there, searching for a way to bring something of his back to his side. It begins with the pack itself, the humans, the wolves, the witch. And how they all function together. It begins with Mark, who had to obey but his heart never left. It begins with Mark and Gordo, through their young years, teen years, adult years, present time…. And the time slowly tries to tell them that they wasted so much time being apart from each other…… But oh god, how I laughed, how much I cried, how delighted I was to just read about these idiots who made me feel so many things and their bonds and happiness and memories and freaking wolf telepathy. How much I loved the fact that Gordo may have shunned everyone before, but he is slowly opening back again and trying his hardest to protect them all…. And Mark is just sweet god I love him to heaven and back and he tried to make amends and apologize but Gordo would never let him because he couldn’t after all Bennets did to him… Gordo, whose pride stops his love from reaching him…. Robbie and Kelly, who are becoming closer minute by minute. Even if Kelly still doesn’t realize it, rofl. The Team Human (Jessie, Chris, Tanner, Rico) who stood by their sides and never let go, who protect them, who became part of their family and pack and who never stop to make me laugh. AND I really loved that all of them had had a part in something and were not just there for the sake of it. And not to mention the change in Jessie. Jessie is perfect and kickass and I love her bisexual ass so much (or pansexual what was it again?). And Bambi, oh Bambi. She could step on me and I would praise her to heaven because – WHAT IS BETTER THAN A BADASS FEMALE? Oh Kelly and Carter, where do I even start with how much they love each other? How they care so deep, how they would do anything for each other, because Carter, oh Carter – Joe was destined to be an alpha, Carter was first born, but what was Kelly than a child stuck in the middle of them? So Carter showers him with love, because Kelly deserves a world. And Kelly, someone who loves his brothers more than anyone in the world, and no matter what danger it is, he would react. Ox and Joe, the two who had risen so far that they became a threat to others. Both who have sacrificed so much for their love and for their pack and the fact that they share a witch a tether a brother a friend a family member and would do anything for Gordo, as much as Gordo would do anything for them, because he is Joe’s witch and Ox is his tether and they are his strength and sanity and Ox is and always will be Gordo’s alfa as well. And Elizabeth, the strongest queen, mother, support pillar, the one who will do anything for her pack. The best there is. **spoilerish, please skip if you are on mobile* Also Timber wolf, the one I certainly did not expect. (view spoiler)[I certainly didn’t expect his attachment to Carter, rofl, and the fact that (view spoiler)[ he is Gordo’s half-brother. (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] I loved the interactions between all of them. There were plenty of beautiful and heartbreaking and funny dialogues that I just loved so damn much. ►►► OVERALL: JUST READ IT, I BEG OF YOU. The best of all is that no characters are pushed to side. All of them are mains and all of them matter. It ends with mystical moon magic thing. ►►► OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: ⚠ TYPE OF SERIES: series ⚠ Point of View: first POV, single narrator ⚠ Cliffhanger: no ⚠ Triggers: torture ⚠ Love triangle: no ⚠ Angst: lovely and wonderful amount of breaking your heart apart and healing it with unimaginable humor. ⚠ Supernatural: extraordinary werewolves and witches ⚠ Explicit content: yes ►►► REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK: ◈ Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) ◈ Ravensong (Green Creek, #2) ◈ Lovesong (Green Creek #2.5) ...more |

Well, this was a ride I wasn't expecting to end like this, nor that I would love it this much, after having a very hard time getting into it from the beginning. Must be writing style, but then again considering the mentality of the main character in this story, I got used to it very quickly. This makes TJ Klune excellent writer. And oh boy, at first I felt pangs of sadness and hurt, but I didn't enter the sob territory yet. And then it hit me - the full strength of grief, sadness and despair that even I couldn't recover and had to stop reading so I could continue. But did I mention the amount of fun and games this had? I had so much fun reading about werewolves, considering they are the supernatural creatures i don't specifically like, but here? They were everything? Just... amazing? It's not everyday that a werewolf wants to court someone by hunting animals and dropping them on their significant other's doorstep in a sense: look, it's a rabbit, cook it and eat it! And then later on even recommends hunting a freaking bear (which the other person was like... STOP BEFORE YOU DIE COURTING ME WITH DEAD BEARS GEEZ). Did i mention there were witches too? Except no, they are not a jedi masters nor wizards (no jedi were harmed in reading this book, nor are any Harry potters (you're a wizard harry). So yes, all fun and games and comedy until it hits you in the feels and makes you cry. Jeez. What a mess. ►►► STORY & CHARACTERS: In this world, witches are real, werewolves are real, monsters are real. And they rule in the shadows. In this world, all packs have a witch with them. And all of them have tethers (or special someone, an object, more people) that prevent them from loosing control. For witches, it's the control of their magic. For werewolves, it's the control of their humanity. Alphas, betas and omegas are included of course. Alphas, with their red eyes, commands and protection. Alpha's who have specific ways of handing down their alpha status. Betas, with their orange eyes, who make the pack, who bond with each other, feel each other, talk with each other. And Omegas, who lost their packs, or their leaders with their violet eyes... Did i mention they are huge wolves? All of them? And they also can shift into the mid state if the need arises. Once upon a time, the Bennet family was one of the most revered and respected werewolf lines until an accident happened and the current head of the house lost his father and his son to the hands of a psychopathic wolf seeking revenge. Except the son survived. Except the son was so thoroughly broken that he stopped speaking all together... Joseph (Joe) Bennet who was so lost until he found a lonely teen in the middle of the forest and then smelled.... he smelled him and he smelled like home and he just... reactivated, and started speaking and couldn't stop, couldn't stop talking. The lonely boy in question is our narrator. His name is Oxnard (Ox) and he is "a bit slower than the others and his words come very hard for him." His father abandoned him and his mother, before pratically telling him he was worthless and wouldn't amount to anything and that people would never see him for himself and judge him. You could say that his words never left Ox's head, destroying his image of self worth even more. And yet, they found each other, and before they knew it, a 1o year old boy and 16 year old teen healed each other for years. He was in my arms now. I didn’t want him to fall. He took my face in his hands and squished my cheeks together. “Why do you smell like that?” he demanded. “Where did you come from? Do you live in the woods? What are you? We just got here. Finally. Where is your house?” He put his forehead against mine and inhaled deeply. “I don’t get it!” he exclaimed. “What is it?” And then he was crawling up and over my shoulders, feet pressed against my chest and neck until he clambered onto my back, arms around my neck, chin hooked on my shoulder. “We have to go see my mom and dad,” he said. “They’ll know what this is. They know everything.” This is a story that follows the Bennet pack, their family, their bonds; that follows an estranged witch Gordo, who never wants to have anything else with any kind of packs, not after what happened to him last time; and finally a story about Ox and his mother, humans, who got involved into the affairs of witches and werewolves and monsters that still lure outside of the Green Creek. Do I even have to tell you about the love I felt for all the characters? Because there were a lot of them and I don't know whom I love more because i love them all equally. And there are 14 of them, if i started typing i would never stop. All of them are the greatest, well fleshed out, well developed. Thomas and Elizabeth, the parents of the Carter, Kelly and Joseph, and their uncle Mark who has had a relationship with Gordo, before they left him; Gordo who is a witch, who is hurt by them leaving and vowed never to get attached like that again, Gordo who found his ground with Ox, someone he swore to protect as his friend/brother/father. Elizabeth, a mother who will always be there, who paints her feelings on canvas; Thomas an alpha who will do everything to protect his own, even if they are not related with blood, he will protect even two humans, one of them who helped their youngest recover from the trauma he faced (the kidnapping, blood, torture, destroying the image of family and of bonds, putting a lot of doubts in the head of a very young boy who was scared that the words were true, and that his family gave up on him) and the mother (Maggie) of the teen (Ox) who is fascinated, who isn't scared who cares so much, who is fun, reliable, who will stand up for her son and who knows that her son deserves a world and so much happiness, who dances with him, who gives him love she knows he deserves. Carter and Kelly, two adorable mess makers, the ones who make others laugh, who give light who share their light, who found their light and woved to protect it. Robbie, a lone wolf, not belonging anywhere until he does; Chris, Jessie, Rico and Tanner, humans in Gordo's shop who have no idea their employee is a witch (Jessie is Chris' sister who isn't working for Gordo though). Ox, who is honest to a fault, who doesn't deserve a lot of shit happening to him, who doesn't deserve being bullied for how he is, until he finds friends, family, protection in a strange family; in a strange boy who won't stop talking to him. Ox, whose mother loves him more than anything in this world, yet not even she can't undo the damage his father did to his self worth. But it gets better. Because he deserves a world. And Joe, tiny little werewolf, who was destroyed in the hands of the monster, who withdrew and panicked when he didn't realize where he was, who still had nightmares, who found someone that smelled like home, like family, who gave him back his sanity just by being there. It's a story of healing and falling in love and finding family in the most unlikely people, reforging bonds, dealing with their demons and monsters, facing their fears. this is a coming of age story, where many years pass, where they dont always stay 10 and 16 and where a lot of talking is made about differences, consent, love, sanity... its a story with a huge amount of lgbt representation, including gay, bisexual, ace, etc.... and finally, i loved their relationships and interactions. esp between kelly and carter, ox and joe, ox and gordo.... i just loved it all. ►►► OVERALL: I make myself cry just writing this review because i have so many feels about this huge family of 14 people, where the comedy is gold, and angst is a gold mine. His voice cracked when he said, “You’re awake now. Ox. Ox. Ox. Don’t you see?” ►►► OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: ⚠ TYPE OF SERIES: series ⚠ Point of View: first POV, single narrator ⚠ Cliffhanger: no ⚠ Triggers: torture, kidnapping, traumas ⚠ Love triangle: no ⚠ Angst: nice amount ⚠ Supernatural: extraordinary werewolves and witches ⚠ Explicit content: yes ►►► REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK: ◈ Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) ◈ Ravensong (Green Creek, #2) ◈ Lovesong (Green Creek #2.5) ...more |

The existence of this whole book is a spoiler enough. But it had everything needed to fill in that small, unnoticeable gaps, the small questions one could only guess. Now we know. And I'm so damn happy. But it also made me sad. This book was actually a journey of feels. Now, there is this tiny (a.k.a. massive) spoiler for The Bands of Mourning. If you read this before it, then you will understand what is happening before it happens. If you don't, however, you will once again be surprised. It only depends on whether or not you want some insight in the things that happen. But it's more connected to the original trilogy - with that epilogue which is actual binding point for the BoM. Anyway, a lot of spoilers for the original trilogy. Of course. The whole book covers the periods of all three books. ► OVERALL: If you are fan of Cosmere universe - pick this up - there will be a lot of interesting dialogues about it. It was a ridiculous plan and they would likely all be killed, but they weren’t going down without a fight. ‘If it was easy, it wouldn’t be any fun, would it?’ This is one of the best series I have read lately. It was damn perfect! Fantastic plot, so many emotions, fantastic characters! I just couldn't stop reading. I read first 20% in one night,and another 80% today without rest. Not to mention, THAT ENDING. I don't remember crying this much for the end of the book - because it was over and there are no more books. I need more because Wydrin, Sebastian and Frith are the best characters that I have read about lately. Did I mention this series had straight couple, gay couple and lesbian couple? Perfection. What is there not to love about our wonderful couples? Love is love and their love was real. I love how author did connections between characters, how characters acted when their loved ones were in danger, how they acted when they were around each other, how wonderful they were all together, how passion bloomed between each one of them, how complex their emotions were. Love, my friends, is a wonderful thing. ► STORY: *spoilers for previous books – also goes for character section* Black Feather Three have a new client: ‘Frith,’ she said, as her mother took the offered seat. ‘This is Devinia the Red, notorious captain of the Crimson Sea Witch, scourge of the Bararian flotilla, first pirate to sail the Shadow-Bone Pass without smashing her ship to pieces, popularly referred to as the “Succubus of the Silent Sea”—’ Now a captain of the ship called the Poison Chalice, Devinia wants to explore the island of gods - also known as cursed island Euriale. In the forest near the the port town called Two-Birds strange things are happening. A blue ghost haunts the island. Everyone who approaches the forest never return. Their job, however, is for Frith to use his magic (he can still use Selsye’s staff) in order to push the ship into the center of the island. Apparently, Devinia has the map of the island and wants to take the riches they will find in it. After all, this is the island of gods and of pirates. ‘It seems you have gained yourself the services of the Black Feather Three, Mum.’ Wydrin took a sip of her mead. ‘Now we just need to discuss the fee. There will be no family discounts, of course.’ And to make things worse, the current mayor of the town is none other but Devinia’s sworn rival Carlita Ristanov, also known as the Banshee. And the danger of the island is not easy to dismiss. ‘It will still be dangerous,’ said Sebastian, his voice low. They all turned to look at him. ‘There will be monsters, or other pirates, or dark magic. Things hidden in the hills, history we shouldn’t be disturbing.’ He met their eyes, one by one. ‘And men and women will die. Your crew will die, Devinia. Screaming, frightened and in pain. If it is one thing I have learned, it’s that death is everywhere. Is gaining the centre of Euriale worth the price, Devinia? Are you willing to let your own people die for it?’ Meanwhile, on the said island, Estenn, Emissary of the old gods, wants nothing more but to see their glorious return. And nothing will stop her. Now that she has the Spinner, mysterious creature which she kidnapped and imprisoned, she knows what she needs. And what she needs is coming on the ship of Poison Chalice. On the other side, Sebastian is seeing the ghost of the man of the island. His obsession grows when ghost meets his eyes. He must find him no matter what. On another ship, two travelers board the ship. Ephemeral, accompanied by her Narhl husband Terin have a goal to find her father and Terin would go anywhere with her, even exposing himself to the heat that could gradually kill him. ► CHARACTERS: ◈ Frith has a problem – he is barely dealing with the loss of his magic. It left him empty and he wants it back, but at the same time he is afraid he would become like Joah – a monster who doesn’t care about lives and uses them without thinking. He still can’t get over the fact that he had to kill a man for a sacrifice in order to destroy Joah. And he is afraid this only makes him closer to the monster Joah became. Aaron hates how powerless he feels, stuck back into his fragile body, with his magic gone. And his love for Wydrin knows no bounds. He would do anything for her, no matter what the cost. He just can’t lose her again… not after the disaster that happened before. ◈ Wydrin now has many people to protect. Her brother in arms Sebastian, her lover Frith, her mother Devinia and her nan Augusta, who is not actually her relative, but close to one. Despite how reckless she can become and how easily she will throw herself into danger to save those he cares about, she still thinks before she acts and kicks everyone in her way. She always finds a way out. And her bond with Frith gets deeper with each day and ”being with Frith made her fingers itch for her daggers, filled her with an indefinable need to fight, to protect. She remembered how Xinian had mocked her – a fool willing to die for love, but not to live for it. She supposed this was living for love, and in truth it made her uneasy. It was dangerous and exposed, like walking a taut rope over a great drop.” ◈ Sebastian is depressed, forlorn and cannot deal with his broken heart. Prince Dallen abandoned him after the slaughter he and his brood daughters enacted in order to save Dallen from torture and death. But Dallen didn’t react to that kindly and found it hard to be with Seb. Now Seb believes that everyone he loves will eventually abandon him, no matter what he does. ‘As far as I can see, Wydrin, the only skills I have are to alienate those I love, and to fail in my responsibilities.’ When she opened her mouth to protest, Sebastian held his hands up. ‘I will still come with you, if that is what you wish. I can still wield a sword well enough, after all.’ So he spends time being distant and using his silver connection to the lizard/dragon-kin to pass the time. He struggles with accepting that he may never find someone to love, and while seeing Wyd and Frith being together makes him happy, he feels like an outsider. ‘We keep throwing ourselves at ludicrous situations, again and again. Haven’t we done enough damage? Haven’t we caused enough trouble?’ The world was spinning again – Sebastian squeezed his eyes shut, urging everything to keep still. ‘The people we’ve hurt, the lives lost because of us. And here we are again, on a cursed island. We should go home, or at least start trying to find one. You two should be enjoying the time you have together, not looking for more inventive ways to get yourselves killed.’ And his morbid thoughts keep going on and on, pulling him further into depression until he sees a ghost – which looks at him. And now, he won’t stop until he finds the ghost and see what he is. The figure was still there, watching him. Without thinking too closely about what he was doing, Sebastian pulled himself up onto the guardrail. He looked over his shoulder once, half expecting Wydrin to have appeared out of nowhere to tell him he was being an idiot, but he was alone. ◈ Ephemeral and Terin are now husband and wife, and Ephemeral is very protective over her cold human. Terin would do anything for her, even going on other places where heat could kill him – although he is the seer of his people and heat can only help him with the visions. Ephemeral explores her bonds and her choices and does what she thinks is for the best. It was different, she told herself; where once she had invaded, now she explored. The difference was important. ◈ Devinia and Augusta make a fantastic duo, with Devinia being the captain and Augusta the healer. Augusta has known Devinia when she was a child and she knows everything about her. She is smart and wonderful old lady who would rather not see her wonderful girls dead. ‘Course I don’t. It’s a bad place. Unnatural. Cursed. No one with any bloody sense would sail into those waters. If I had my way we’d never set foot on the island, and that goes for bloody Two-Birds too.’ She patted absently at the knives on the belt. ‘What’s there is best left alone.’ Devinia is ruthless to her enemies and fair to her followers. She is terror in disguise but also honorable and strong leader who will not back down easily. She is very similar to her daughter, capable, strong fighter and hurricane, but at the same time different from her. And she loves her children more than anything in the world. I did mention how similar they were but this cements it: ‘Don’t I know you, girl? You look awful familiar.’ And the other side: ‘Fine. Go, then, but know, Wydrin Threefellows, fabled Copper Cat of Crosshaven and unending bane of my existence, that you carry my life, and the lives of my crew, in your pockets. And if you sink that skiff, I’ll follow you into the afterlife and tan your bloody hide myself.’ ◈ Estenn is the leader of a religious group of the old gods. She is a religious fanatic and would do anything in order to return the old gods, no matter what the cost. She doesn’t understand the terror they represent and believes that they will be rewarded for their service, especially by Res’ni and Res’na. The world had changed in some significant way, and the island was reacting, coming to life, or bringing life … Estenn smiled as she ran, feeling a tightness in her chest as she contemplated what that could mean. It wouldn’t be long now, and Res’ni and Res’na would call her to their service. She was sure of it. ◈ Oster is the mysterious man, who is confused – he doesn’t like questions because it is not his place to give answers… or better said, he doesn’t know them. The Spinner was supposed to be there for him, but now he is gone and he can’t find him. Not only that, but a man whom he just met keeps asking for questions and is overly curious about him. The Silver tide will connect them in time, and it’s up to Oster to make the right choices, even when he is pitched against his family and the only source of information about himself. And what a joy it was, seeing how it all progressed, how he grew and started to understand that nothing is simple. ‘My history is long and glorious, my lineage is full of pride and fury.’ ◈ Others: I didn’t expect to see so many familiar characters back again, so I won’t talk about any of them in order to avoid spoilers. But they made me happy and it was wonderful experience. ◈ RELATIONSHIPS: ►Wyd and Frith: Did I mention how amazing the two of them are? Frith reached over and took Wydrin’s hand, squeezing it firmly. ‘If I should vomit, please do not tell your mother.’ *** ‘Don’t lose my dagger. I’m very fond of it.’ *** ‘Don’t you see, Wydrin? If I miss the power, I am a monster. I saw what it did to Joah, how it twisted him and made him less than human. I did things I can never forgive myself for, and yet part of me wants it all back. Part of me is still the person who killed a defenceless man at the Storm Gates. I’m still the person who left Sebastian to die by the shore of the mages’ lake.’ *** You know, if we’d just listened to them in the first place, none of this would have happened.’ *** ‘Lord Frith, are you attempting to distract me with sex?’ *** ‘When I thought you had died within Joah’s Rivener, I also did things I regret,’ said Frith. ‘And I didn’t have strange god magic addling my head.’ ►Sebastian and (view spoiler)[ Oster (hide spoiler)]: (view spoiler)[ The riding scene was so adorable, and his and Seb’s relationship was fantastic to read about – how they grew as friends and then to more… ‘I can make it easier for you,’ said Oster. Sebastian looked up in surprise. Oster’s voice was softer, and he was looking away into the night. ‘I will go slowly at first, until you are used to it.’ (No, they weren't talking about sex, but Sebby's perverted mind thought so). And then: ‘You were born here,’ said Sebastian, his voice hoarse with wonder. Through Oster he could feel the living island, the tenuous heartbeat of all that lived here. It was obvious now that Oster was deeply connected to it all, as was everything that spawned under its trees. ‘We can go faster,’ he said, then added, ‘if you wish.’ *** ‘Everything is confusing,’ said Oster, taking his other arm. ‘But you, Sebastian. You are the one solid part of my life. Why is that? Why do I need a mortal at all?’ (hide spoiler)] ‘The tension between us. It unnerves me. I demand that you help me understand it.’ ►Seb and Wyd: Absolutely wonderful, Wyd is full of support and love. ‘Wydrin, you do not need me any more. You have Frith now, and I know that you are happy. I would not lessen that, for anything in the world.’ *** Taking pity on him, Wydrin threaded her arm through Sebastian’s and turned him to walk back to their small camp. ‘Trust you to have a crush on a (view spoiler)[god, (hide spoiler)] Sebastian.’ *** ‘I’ve come to realise that I can’t be responsible for everyone.’ *** ‘I love you, brother.’ ► OVERALL: Fantastic series – I highly recommend it. I loved all the books and there was enough of everything. Final rating: 6/5 stars Final rating - for the whole series: 5/5 stars “There is no way back. There is only forward. It’s impossible to imagineFinal rating: 6/5 stars Final rating - for the whole series: 5/5 stars “There is no way back. There is only forward. It’s impossible to imagine there’s any reason to move ahead, but that isn’t the real reason you give up. The real fear—the terror that keeps you rooted—is that you might be wrong.” - WARNING: THIS SECTION CONTAINS NO SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE SERIES, UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE BY SPOILER SECTIONS. SO FEEL FREE TO READ THIS AS IT WILL CONCLUDE MY FINAL OPINION ON THE WHOLE SERIES, INCLUDING THE PREQUELS. - Two words: mind-blown. This was wonderful, epic and strong conclusion to one of the series I came to love so much. This series is fantastic - at least to me. I loved everything: world building, characters, emotional impact, story, everything. I honestly even find it hard to write this very review. I would write so much but then it would be too long. In short: + Do yourself a favor and start with the chronological order than publishing order - it will mean a lot. + I recommend reading without making longer breaks. + I was mind-blown because these books have a strong conclusion and well done world building. + I really need more prequels (since author is willing to write them and I really want a book about 6 years ago). + I was shocked more than once with amazing plot twists here and there. + Wonderful character relationships, and it was refreshing to see the relationship between Hadrian and Royce, the main characters, who are polar opposites. + STRONG, CAPABLE, BRAVE HEROINES WITH BRAINS. I think I said enough. Everything fit very well - everything. And so many foreshadowings! I knew some things were coming, but it still didn't lessen the blow to the heart. I cried so much I couldn't stop. And that happened more than once, due to great plot twists (view spoiler)[ Like Mercy, Gwen, Arcadius... Royce & Hadrian at the end.... (hide spoiler)]. Seeing my favorite characters broken like that was so damn hard, but I'm glad they found their happy endings (the best happy ending they could manage though). This series was not kind to characters, some broke, some found their happy endings, some died... But each one of them is loveable and antagonists are well done. Everyone had a reason, agenda, and I loved the approach on good and evil. Especially reflected in main characters - given that one of the them, Royce, saw only worst in people, was pretty much horrifying person with terrifying reputation, who was cynical and very distrustful of people and Hadrian, who was extremely naive, trustful of others, and honorable. Hadrian is representation of good - but Royce was representation of people who are brought down so low that they don't understand things as loyalty, compassion, mercy, kindness. Lots of things happen in here and many things are revealed and it was so well done. And the conclusion was great. I believe whole plot twist near the end was unexpected. There were signs, but unless you pay attention to them, you might not notice them at all, but overall, many plot twists were thrown. Since these two books were connected - literally - i won't write two separate sections for each book like i did in first two omnibuses, but rather combined. ► STORY & CHARACTERS: -THIS SECTION CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS BOOKS- This books continues directly from the previous one - Arista is captured, heir of Norvon is revealed, Modina is going to be murdered as soon as they wed her to the man of the regent's choosing, Royce is forced to check on Gwen to make sure she is still alive and well, thus leaving Hadrian, and Hadrian is forced to bargain for the lives of two people: his friend and princess Arista and heir Degan Gaunt - and if he holds his end of the bargain, guilt will eat him for the rest of his life. Everyone was fantastic in this book and I found myself loving some of the characters even more - Magnus for example. But these books are really unkind to Arista, Royce, Modina and Gwen. Some of the characters return as well and I was so happy to see them again, some not. I was surprised to see some of the characters as well. The next part will form my final opinion on the characters and it will include spoilers for the this book especially. - SPOILERS THAT ARE HIDDEN ARE CONTAIN SOME SERIOUS SPOILERS, BUT I WILL MARK THE SERIOUS ONES + THIS SECTION AHEAD INCLUDES SOME MINOR SPOILERS. - Hadrian was fantastic, and I am glad for him and I loved him so much in this book. I am glad he did what was right and said the right things at the right times. (view spoiler)[MAJOR SPOILER: (view spoiler)[ i thought he would stay with the heir once the book was over, but i guess with the threat that passed, there is no more reason to do it, and it's not like they won't see each other again (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]. Royce was fantastic as well - compared to all the books in the series, this is where he hits his highest and lowest points in life. Where he breaks down, where he finally understands what love is, where he changes. This is the time for Royce to finally step out of his darkness and into the light. (view spoiler)[Royce went through lot of shocks in this book, and seeing him broken like this was really, really, hard. MAJOR SPOILER: (view spoiler)[ Seeing him give up on life and trying to desperately kill himself, even doing that in front of Hadrian and saying goodbyes and everything, hurt a lot, but I am glad he found reason to live again. It was so damn unexpected, but it made so much sense. He only needed a little mercy in his life. And I totally didn't expect that he was (view spoiler)[ MAJOR SPOILER: a very big spoiler btw (view spoiler)[ the true heir, and i was actually glad for it, but the part where he was dying made me cry so much, especially Hadrian's “There’s just nothing keeping you here anymore, is there?” Tears ran down Hadrian’s cheeks. “I love you, buddy,” he said, and laid him back down. Cries again. (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)].
Hadrian and Royce in general made a fantastic duo - and literally, miracle workers - and their relationship is wonderful. Really, really wonderful to the point they really love each other and that says a lot about Royce, who was betrayed over and over again. And Hadrian who finally found reason and purpose in his life. And i am glad it wasn't in vain. Heroines section - CONTAINS SPOILERS, MINOR - : Modina was so (view spoiler)[damn awesome (hide spoiler)] in this book. She surprised me so much - i was both sad and happy for her. The same goes for Arista and I am glad to see how far she had come in life. Seeing her broken by imprisonment, however, was sad. She deserves to be happy after all she went through. And Amilia - I am glad she got what she wanted - happiness! Three amazingly awesome heroines! And Gwen, oh Gwen. I love her so damn much. She is my favorite heroine ever. How hard must have been for her - knowing the future, knowing the outcomes and doing all she could to save those dear to her. Such a great woman who asked for nothing in return. Alric was the same old spoiled brat who was in the end jealous of his sister and her capability to lead, but he was brave, kind and honorable leader who deserved more - much more. He wanted only the best for his people. I liked him, and I am (view spoiler)[MAJOR SPOILER: (view spoiler)[ so sad that he was killed. But he got a proper burial and I cried even more (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]. Alric is good, good man. Mauvin was amazing as well, Allie and Mercy just too cute, same goes for the street urchins they picked up (Mince and company). I was actually sad for Archibald, during the end I kinda... little... liked him compared to other antagonists but he did try. I am glad the thing with Saldur and regents, even Guy was solved, and Merrik was there too and his story was concluded as well. Overall, I am satisfied. But i am mostly surprised by Nimbus, Breckton and Magnus - they were fantastic. Myron is amazing and loveable and honest and innocent to a fault but a wonderful, wonderful man. Arcadius - a man who went through so many things and manipulated so many people, he puts Esrahaddon to shame. But so did (view spoiler)[ MAJOR SPOILER (view spoiler)[ patriarch (hide spoiler)] as well (hide spoiler)] And then there is Gaunt... One word: Ugh. Now that my rant about characters is over - I'll just say in short: characters were damn fantastic and they were much more developed than in the previous two books (especially side characters). ► OVERALL: I love this series. It's probably one of my absolute favorites. A great mix of dwarves, elves, humans, magic... interesting world building and idea. Awesome plot twists near the end and loveable characters - the ones you will love so much your heart will hurt because the series is over. I am still crying over reading all the books. I cannot recover from them and now I am wondering what to do. EDIT: I just read the Percepliquis Afterword, sent to me by the author and I was so happy to read it and find out the more stuff about Riyria. Some of them I concluded on my own, some of them I had no idea about. Thanks Michael J. Sullivan, for sharing afterword with me and for telling about the other things as well. I was especially surprised about (view spoiler)[Arcadius (hide spoiler)] part. That caught me off guard. Thank you! LIKED: ☑ ROYCE AND HADRIAN and everyone else, great characters ☑ Storyline!!! ☑ World BUILDING ☑ heroines with brains ☑ plot twists DISLIKED: ☒ NOTHING OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: ⚠ Standalone: No. Part of a series, split in two parts: Riyria Chronicles (which happens before the main storyline, and Revelations actual and completed main storyline. All of the books have beginning and ending, but are heavily dependent on each other. Riyria Chronicles can be read before or after Revelations, but I suggest Chronicles first as it is the beginning of everything. ⚠ Point of View: Third POV, multiply people. ⚠ Cliffhanger: No, it's the END of the ends. ⚠ Triggers: (view spoiler)[ threats of torture of the worst kind, torture, what else? I believe there was suicidal thinking and fantastic(fantasy) racism. (hide spoiler)] ⚠ Love triangle: NO. THANK GOD. ⚠ Angst: Of course. In this one... lots of it. ⚠ Supernatural: Yes. Elves, Dwarves, Gods, dragons ⚠ Mature content: No. Mentioned, but nothing described. ⚠ Ending type: (view spoiler)[ yes, it has HEA, but some of the characters die (there are lot of characters in this book, pray that it isn't your favorite) - but they went with style. But yes, everything is mostly HEA in the end: HEA for the world, for Hadrian, for their kingdom, and bittersweet for Royce. Final rating: 5.5/5 stars “The definition of a lawman, (view spoiler)[Uncle (hide spoiler)], is easy,” Wax said, feeling blood from a dozen cuFinal rating: 5.5/5 stars “The definition of a lawman, (view spoiler)[Uncle (hide spoiler)], is easy,” Wax said, feeling blood from a dozen cuts trickle down his face. (...) “He’s the man who takes the bullet so nobody else has to.” I am shocked, stunned, shocked, SHOCKED, shocked, and mind blown. This is the experience I had to survive through in this book. (See what I did there?) Compared to the first two books in Allow Era quartet, this one proved to be everything I needed. First half was mostly funny, while focusing on the actual main story of this quartet. The second half was filled with more action, more mindblowing things and with shocking truths. Like Kelsier said: "There is always another secret." Apparently, this series was supposed to be trilogy like the one before, but the first book of Alloy (if I got that right) is something like a book 0 for the main story, which are books five to seven. But I have to say - I really, really enjoy reading about Wax and Wayne and everyone else in their lives. This book is something else compared to the first and second book - while the second one also provided main story material, almost whole The Bands of Mourning represents a main story, also answering many questions a reader asked through the first two books. What is Suit's goal? What is the Set's goal? What's happening in their world? What is the situation in the outer cities, besides Elendel? And so on and on. The last 40% were fantastic - 6 star worthy material. And the addition of one specific and rather new and fresh character was even better! Given all of this information, I am really anticipating the last book in Alloy Era as well as the other two series that will happen closer to our time and the future. Those looking for Hoid will find him here too - it will be quite obvious to find him as he says his name. Also, there are quite a few mentions of Cosmere itself and more mentions of the god Trell. There is also a lot of foreshadowing through the Bands of Mourning - pay special attention to the spears appearing through the book. And lastly, there is this new book Brandon published: Mistborn: Secret History about (guess who) (view spoiler)[ Kelsier *SCREAMING* (hide spoiler)] and it has spoilers - masive spoilers - for this book and the first trilogy, so it's like book #6.5. Given the cliffhanger and massive revelation in this book, it's definitely bad idea to read it as book #3.5 unless you don't plan to read #4-7 books. ► STORY: *Spoilers for the first 2 books of Alloy Era, of course* After the incident with the Bleeder, six months have passed. Wax is trying to recover from killing his ex-wife, again. Lessie's death hit him as hard as the first time, especially after finding out what she was and what Harmony had to do with it. Now Steris and Wax are preparing for the wedding, their wedding. Only, it does not go as planned. The Church is flooded right in the time of their wedding ceremony. (Guess who is responsible for that.) In the meantime, a kandra named VenDell approached Wax to tell him that Harmony has grown silent, suspicious things are happening and their friend, also kandra, ReLuur, saw very interesting things but was severely wounded with the removal of his spike and is now incoherent. ReLuur was researching the Bands of Mourning - the metalminds Lord Ruler once wore, that could give all the abilities to the new user. Although they are legendary, it is believed that they actually do exist. And not only that - VenDell brought another big news that ReLuur discovered: Wax's sister, Telsin, has been spotted in New Seran. ► CHARACTERS: There is not much to say about the characters and what they do in this book. Wax is still struggling with himself and his feelings, while appearing stoic and calm. He is still having hard time getting over Lessie's death, and marrying for the politics is not really a good idea for him now, but he has enough strenght to see it through. “People,” Wax said, “are like cords, Steris. We snake out, striking this way and that, always looking for something new. That’s human nature, to discover what is hidden. There’s so much we can do, so many places we can go.” He shifted in his seat, changing his center of gravity, which caused the sphere to rotate upward on its tether. Wayne, on the other hand, still struggles with his phobia of the guns, his worthiness and how he fits in this world, and still has kleptomania problems. Old habbits die hard and he does not want to give them up. Although, he still trades stuff for each other - sometimes for more than they are worth, or even less. {He also never fails to make me laugh like a maniac.}
Marasi is moving on from her love for Wax. She wants to dedicate herself to her career, which she has chosen by admiring Wax and Wayne in action. She becomes more sure in herself, is more of an action girl now and reacts quickly to danger. “I’m not some tortured, abandoned creature, Wayne,” Marasi said, finding herself smiling at her distorted reflection in a ladle. “I’m not sitting around pining and dreaming for someone else to decide if I should be happy. There’s nothing there. Whether that’s due to actual lack of affection on his part, or more to stubbornness, I don’t care. I’ve moved on.” Steris is now a part of the team - highly aware that she is not the combat type, nor that she could do anything else beside planning her justified paranoid scenarios, she proved to be a necessary addition to their team. And she is happy, as long as she is able to help. This time, however, she shows more emotions than before and she is becoming serious partner and fitting companion for Wax. {Steris was wonderful and finally better developed character - I cannot help but love her and her thinking and her actions. She is a gold of a woman, and I also believe, a perfect match for Wax.} “(...). You’re good at these things, Steris. You really are—and don’t give me any more of your rhetoric about being ‘boring.’” MeLaan is back, in all her glory, bringing more details about kandra race in general. She is still the same, old, weird and lovely woman (when she wants to be one). It was quite unexpected to see her perusing the relationship with (view spoiler)[ Wayne (hide spoiler)], given that they have a lot in common, (view spoiler)[ being the masters of disguise and being fond of each other (hide spoiler)]. “I’ve been a lot of people, Ladrian. Seen through a lot of eyes. There’s always another perspective, if you look hard enough.” And then there are characters that appear later in the story, including (view spoiler)[ Telsin and Allik, of which I loved only (SPOILERS) (view spoiler)[ Allik - he is so damn cute and awkward and very emotional, but also awesome, and I couldn't help but laugh whenever he adressed Wax with titles such as Oh Metabolic One, and such, lol. Finding out about his people and their ways was fascinating, and I felt so said that he had to go through such horrific things. The other one, Telsin, however, was not my cup of tea, and pissed me off most of the time, without ever giving out enough reasons, explanations and just wanting to get it over with. SPOILER: (view spoiler)[I still cannot believe my dislike over her was justified. (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]. ► OVERALL: FANTASTIC sequel - had everything I wanted and more! Wonderful! This is finally becoming as good as first trilogy, although I believe nothing will ever remove first trilogy from the first place in my opinion. How am I going to wait for the next one for two years, I don't know. Now i'm gonna read Mistborn: Secret History and probably cry tears of happiness. Sayonara~! Once again, I was surprised, with so many betrayals happening and plot twists which were great. This is also the book where you realize that this generation of heroes is screwed. Enemy finally started thinking of better attack plans, using emotions and bonds. Fiends lost in the previous 2 battles with the heroes of six flowers, but this time, they are making sure to destroy them in every ways possible, especially using mind games and creating a secret weapon that could destroy them all. STORY : Of course, this section contains spoilers for #1 and #2 book, so be careful if you haven't read them. Nashetania appears in front of everyone, taunting them, only to activate the blades jewel she put into Chamo when they met before the awakening of Evil God, thus slowly killing her. If Nashetania doesn't get out of 1km radius, Chamo will die in three hours and there will be only 6 heroes left. Once again, the heroes are thrown into chaos, and to make things worse, Goldof sudenly declares "I must save the princess." Now, the heroes don't know if he is the real Seventh, or if he is acting out of love he feels for Nashetania... And time is once again, running out. In three hours they have to find Goldof and understand if he is their enemy; either kill or capture Nashetia in order to save Chamo and face the threats of Tgurneu. The book is split into two parts - heroes POV, first part of the book, and second part is from Goldof's point of view. CHARACTERS : This section also contains spoilers #1 and #2 book, so be careful. There are also slight spoilers included, so skip if you are person who dislikes slight spoilers... This time, central character is Goldof. Having suffered extreme betrayal, he is conflicted between his loyalty and love for Nashetania, and his duty as six flowers hero. Most of the book -actually half of it- will be from his POV, where the reader will find out more about his past, how he became commander at such a young age, and most of all, what led to Nashetania and Goldof meeting. On the other hand, Nashetania is once again cruel and manipulative woman, who will stop at nothing but achieving her goals. Once again, we are introduced to a new character, Dozzu, who is the traitor commandant of demons. He works with Nashetania in order to change the world. Meanwhile, Adlet and Fremy started developing feelings with each other, with Fremy denying the feeling of love. OVERALL : Another fantastic addition to the series i came to love very much. This book was the biggest emotional ride out of all, and because of that i enjoyed it more than the other books. Final rating: 6/5 stars [image] Rokka no Yuusha (Braves of the six flowers) is, without a doubt, one of my favorite series ever. [image] Rokka no Yuusha (Braves of the six flowers) is, without a doubt, one of my favorite series ever. [image] I couldn't help myself, so I will write a review for this, in order for this series to get more fans. Also, another thing that I should mention is that anime adaptation of these novels is currently airing, so you should check it out as well. Anime adapted first book very faithfully. It is written in third person, with switching POVs as well. And very well written at that. Illustrations are very beautiful as well! STORY : So, what is this book/series about? One millennium ago, a demon entity appeared. It was named Evil God (Majin/Demon King, whatever) and it wanted to eradicate humans. People despaired, nations were destroyed, royal families lost. Until, one day, a Saint of Single Flower appeared. Saints are the women, and only women - without exception, who possess supernatural powers. Saint of Single flower appeared and sealed Evil God. However, she warned people that the Evil God will awake, and therefore, she will bestow upon 6 heroes her sign and power, no more, no less. Only six heroes will be chosen to battle Evil God and its spawn, fiends, on the west peninsula, where Evil God sleeps. Evil God woke up 2 more times, and both times, he was successfully sealed, even though lives were lost. In the present day, the time for Evil God to awake is coming close. Heroes of all kinds have to prove themselves in the temple of the Goddess of Fate, in which she will chose the six heroes she desires. Candidates must be brave, powerful, and most of all, they must have a strong desire to defeat the Demon God. On one of those tournaments, a self proclaimed strongest man on earth, Adlet Mayer, 18 years old, crashed in the tournament. His way of fighting was not allowed for participation, as Adlet uses dirty tricks and ninja-like fighting style. But his strong desire and ambition allowed him to be chosen as one of the heroes of the six flowers. But, when he goes on the place where the heroes should meet, a new mystery is revealed. Instead of 6 heroes, there are 7, which is impossible. All of them wear the mark of the Saint of single flower, and yet... one of them is a traitor/imposter, and is working with kyoma to awaken Demon god. This is a well done mystery, with fantastic characters and plot twists. It's one of the unique fantasies where focus of the story is not on love, but on figuring out who the traitor is, while being in danger from fiends. The heroes have only 40 days to seal the demon god before it awakens, but they also have to be careful of the traitor that is within their midst. CHARACTERS : [image] ♦ Adlet: Adlet is the character that is in the center of the attention in this novel. He is an ordinary human, who uses various tricks (darts, smoke bombs, explosives, traps) that help him survive and win his battles. Despite proclaiming himself as world strongest man, he is very intelligent, cunning and capable person with strong will. He knows how to survive, and people like him are dangerous. In the first book, we follow his POV the most (which is in third person), although we have other POVs of the other characters as well. Also, he is probably the one character you will later be sad about when you learn of the reason he is able to smile, even in difficult situations. How he is able to not lose his cool, despite the danger he will be thrown into. And once you read about his past, you will be able to understand why he acts the way he acts. ♦ Fremy: is a strange girl who is a Saint of Gunpowder. Except, this type of saint is unknown, as there are only 78 Saints known, and under control of Mora (another one of the chosen heroes). Her being saint of gunpowder allows her to create explosives and it allows her to make her bullets much more dangerous, thus allowing her to kill kyoma easily. She is distrustful of others, but at the same time strong and very capable fighter. She doesn't let her emotions take better of her. But, I will avoid talking about her, because her mysteries are far more interesting when read than known. ♦ Nashetania: is a princess of the kindgom Piena, as well as Saint of Blades, which gives her ability to create swords out of thin air. She is the first hero Adlet meets. Despite being a princess, her personality is different depending on the person she is with. She can be cruel and fearless, and humble and easygoing girl. Her moods switch based on her feelings. ♦ Hans: is assassin, whose way of fighting reminds of cats. He has high respect of cats, therefore speaking like them (adding cat like sounds to his sentences or attacks), moves like them, but nevertheless, he is a strong, and most dangerous hero that is present. Because of his intelligence, he is very difficult to cross, and because he loves fighting dangerous opponents, he doesn't hesitate when it comes to attacking the suspicious people. ♦ Chamo: is 14 year old Saint of Swamp,and her ability makes her very dangerous, especially to kyoma. Her twisted and sadistic personality, as well as her strength, make humans and fiends easily scared. She is selfish, not a team worker, easily angered, but the only one who can "control" her is Mora, due to them knowing each other. Chamo also thinks Mora is scary, and that's one of the reasons she is willing to listen to her. ♦ Mora: is a Saint of Mountains, and head of Saints. She is knowledgable of all saints that exist in the world, except for Fremy. Her power allows her to see the terrain they are in, as well as use echoes to convey messages to other heroes, not to mention help with healing and having increased body strength. She is the oldest character (around 36) in this band of seven and is the one who will act as a leader of the heroes. Her calm and composed attitude helps, and she is the only one able to calm Chamo down. ♦ Goldof: is one of the heroes that are chosen. He is a genius fighter, despite being only 16, as well as one of the best fighters among the heroes of the six flowers. Goldof is the head of the Black Horns Knights from the country of Piena. He wears a heavy and extremely resistant black armor and wields a heavy spear in battle. He is extremely loyal to princess of Piena, and harbours feelings for her. (His story will probably make you cry in the third book, he deserves better). ♦ Tgurneu: is first of the kyoma leaders that appear in the story. Currently, there are 3 of them, but Tgurneu is the one who takes measures against heroes. Despite seeming carefree and kind, he is very cruel and horrifying enemy, which lies in order to manipulate others. He enjoys seeing humans suffer, and therefore made many ventures which were not so comfortable for humans. OVERALL : If you enjoy fantastic mystery, amazing characters, strong plot and amazing plot twists, you will love this series. Even though it is dark, there is also a bit of a romance between certain characters, but not too much. The focus is on characters and the story. Each book follows at least 2 characters and their background stories, and author does this very well. Integrating the character stories into the main plotline gives much much better experience. There is also a conclusion to Talyn and Felicia's story (which is everything I had ever wanted) and these two books are best to be read one after another as soon as possible because they form a single story. So far, this is my my absolute favorite book in the whole League series because it was half about the couple and half about what is happening in the Universe at the moment (and there was a lot going on), thus giving us insight in new characters we should be keeping our eyes on, and old characters who have redeemed for their past actions (one of them is in the next book). There were a lot of shock bombs in this book - I definitely didn't expect so many plot twists. After a while I stopped being shocked as I waited for more bombs to strike me down. And that was great! This was definitely an emotional ride and I cried and my heart squeezed in my chest when I got around 60%... But it was amazing sequel and I loved it (view spoiler)[MAJOR SPOILER: kinda disappointed no one (view spoiler)[died though (hide spoiler)]after giving us many shocking scenes :/ (hide spoiler)]. ____________________________________ STORY & CHARACTERS: ____________________________________ The story continues many years later after Talyn and Felicia's book (in other words, present time). Cairistiona’s mother, Eriadne is captured, Jullien is on the run but the threat still remains. The war against the League is coming - and they are not the only threat for safety of everyone who has declared the war on League. The Alliance has decided to appoint Galene Batur as the leader of the forces. That includes Phrixian, Caronese, Qillaq, Andarion and Tavali forces. Tavalian is a nation that has been at war with Andarions for years but the threat League represents is a common ground for the two nations. What Galene didn't expect is that Tavali representative would be none other but her arch-enemy - none other than Fain: the Andarion who broke their pledge to marry a human and who brought nothing but misery to Talyn and Galene's life. So she does the only thing reasonable - she shoots him the moment she sees his face. What a touching (asdjadk what the f is going on are you insane is anyone of you sane what - everyone screams and panic until they figure out Fain is still alive) between the two. *contains very light spoilers* ♦ Fain Hauk a Rogue pilot in Tavalian army. Having lost everything he cared about, he ended up in Tavali forces (and not by his own choice). Tavalian nation is a place where everyone can be something based on their abilities and strength - where status is earned and not given by birthright. But these years haven't been kind to Fain - two years after he lost his human wife, Omira, to her suicide, he was captured by Tavali and enslaved, even (view spoiler)[experimented on. Being Andarion didn't pass well in Venik's book, so he tortured him as much as possible (hide spoiler)]. Now, he rose in rank and by saving his master's (Braxen Venik's) life, he is now a member of Venik family, as well as a member of Royal family (recently) - the moment Cairie adoped Dancer, she adopted Fain as well. But Dancer is the only family member who still accepts him and loves him after everything that happened. What he didn't expect is to meet Galene again in his life. The very woman he left when they were teens, a moment after which he was made an Outcast. Worst of all, he didn't even know that he has a son - and even worse - they fought on the opposite sides for many years and never noticed. I liked Fain while I was reading the previous books. I didn't expect to love Fain as much as I do after reading his book, in fact - i started loving him even more. Even though he left Galene, he never - ever - stopped loving her. In fact, he had no other choice but to leave her (and it was completely justified). So after reading everything he said, I figured out he deserves his second chance. Especially with Galene. Most of all, he was kind, honorable and even tolerable to Gelene's whims. But his guilt ate him inside - especially after he found out what happened to Galene and their son. ♦ Galene Batur advanced much in her life. After being heartbroken by Fain, and birthing their son, Talyn, she tried as much as possible to help Talyn through his life being that his status as a lack-Vest (an outcast father) earned him a lot of degradation and trouble. After Eriadne was captured, she rose in status and now she became a leader of Alliance's forces (courtesy of Nykyrian). But one thing didn't change - there was only one man whom she loved and whom she always will. Never in her life had she wanted anyone else, except for Fain. For her Talyn was the center of her tiny world after they were both abandoned by her's and Fain's family. Now she both despises Fain for what he did but can't help but feel happy that their paths crossed again. But forgiveness doesn't come easily, especially not from someone as jaded as her. If there was something that made me dislike Galene, it was her judgmental nature - one that manifests as soon as one word she doesn't like is said. She is so quick to judge Fain, that he had a lot of hard time having to beg her to listen to him. She comes so quickly to conclusions, gets even angrier and is bound to hurt the target of her anger in rapid succession. But overall, despite her main fault, she was interesting, strong and capable woman, clear set on destroying everything that hurts her precious family. ♦ Fain and Galene had a lot to get over with - if you read Kenyon's books, especially Darling and Zarya's you would pretty much be correct if you thought they were the main couple of this book. True love is something that is hard to forget - especially if something got in the way of it in the first place. Galene and Fain had to go through a lot of things and challenges to understand they both need each other. ♦ Talyn Batur & Felicia are back again. After the conclusion of the last book, we found out that their statuses never changed - Talyn still cannot marry Felicia, unless Cairistiona adopts him or Fain does it first. Since he came with Galene on her mission, he meets his father for the first time - and given how much he suffered because he wasn't there - he doesn't hate him for himself, he dislikes him because of what he did to his mother. Now Fain has to prove to both Galene and Talyn to earn their respect again. Overall, this book had everything that I wanted to see in Talyn and Felicia's book (view spoiler)[MAJOR SPOILER: they married and are expecting a child, where as Fain adopted Talyn again (hide spoiler)]. I was so glad to see Talyn and Felicia happy - as they deserved to be. ✍ ☘ ❦ ☕ ❂ ✄ ☸ ⚡ ⚓ ☁ ☂ ✎ ✍ ☘ ❦ ☕ ❂ ✄ ☸ ⚡ ⚓ ☁ ☂ ✎ ☸ ⚡ ⚓ There were a lot of characters in this book. Among them, we get to see Nykyrian (which even has a POV inserted, I was so happy), Maris, Ryn (we find out more about his life and his family), Safir, Syn, Caillen, Dancer, Nero & Hadrian & Jayne (where we find out more significant information about Nero, Hadrian and what they can do and their heritage and family), Qory and Morra, and many more. But among the new ones we meet Ryn's mother Hermione and the rest of his family (view spoiler)[MAJOR SPOILER: he is married to Mack but they had hidden that fact from everyone and his wife's family (hide spoiler)]; then Venik and his family members who play important parts (view spoiler)[ oh how i hated Braxen and what he did to Fain, that was unforgivable (view spoiler)[ especially the fact that he put him through the horrifying unification with the ship without his constent, made him trade his freedom (again) for his adopted kids to stay with him, and even implanting a kill switch in his brain (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)], and lastly Ushera (view spoiler)[ and her kids (hide spoiler)] who is the main character of the next book. We also find out about Kyr and what drove him to insanity, and we find out what happened to Jullien - at least a part of the whole story (view spoiler)[ and who is not what we thought he was (hide spoiler)]. Another interesting addition to the character list is an engimatic character called Thaumarturgus that no one meets and lives to tale the tale... unless he wants them too. I am highly interested in him and I wish for him to have his own book (as well as Kyr). I probably missed some characters, but now you see - there is a lot of them in this book, which made it even more enjoyable. ____________________________________ OVERALL: ____________________________________ FANTASTIC sequel and everything I ever wanted in the League book. Waiting for the next one will be such a hard thing to do... But I am glad I waited for Fain's book to come out so I read them both in 3 days and I don't regret investing my time in this series. I have read almost 50 Kenyon's books and I just love her stories. All in all, this deserves all 6 stars (exceeding expectations) from me. ____________________________________ ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ____________________________________ MY THE LEAGUE REVIEWS: ◉ Born of Night (The League, #1) ◉ Cloak & Silence (The League, #7) ◉ Born of Fury (The League, #8) ◉ Born of Defiance (The League, #9) ◉ Born of Betrayal (The League, #10) ...more |

What had dr Final rating: 6/5 stars So, i finally finished Silmarillion. I thought it would take me longer than 5 days, but i have never been so wrong. What had driven me to read this was the movie adaptation of Hobbit, and since i have never read anything of Tolkien before, i decided to do it now :D. I am glad i did, because this book is epic - really epic and amazing. The history of Middle Earth was full of tragic stories and tragic families, and especially tragic love stories. Most of them ended tragically so to say. But every story was breathtakingly beautiful in it's own twisted way. The thing is, it isn't complicated as i expected. They just have confusing names...Especially sons and fathers and the naming system - they all sound alike! And there were so many main characters - and all of them had a lot of influence of the story. Silmarillion is split into many parts, where the main part is Silmarillion story - the longest one - and the most tragic one. So many characters, and so many are dead in the end. It's kind of sad :( ____________________________________________ Characters : ____________________________________________ Characters were amazing, even though it wasn't classic book. You follow their whole lives, not just a part of the story. I especially enjoyed reading about Maedhros and Fingon, Beren and Lúthien, Túrin Turambar, Finrod. It was interesting reading about Morgoth and Sauron too. I never thought Sauron was lesser evil before(Morgoth being the biggest evil ever - i don't think Sauron was good at being evil in LotR).... Not for everyone though, especially those who don't like tragic endings.:D p.s. for those who didn't know - Blind Guardian, metal band, made an album Nightfall in Middle Earth which is based on Silmarillion. All the songs are awesome, but the most beautiful is Harvest of Sorrow - about Túrin and Niënor Níniel. ____________________________________________ ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ____________________________________________ REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK: ◈ The Children of Húrin ...more |

We know what we have can be strong. Stronger." I have not recovered from this book. And this is how you write a heartbreaking, heart-wrenching, glorious, out of the scale ANGST. I loved the way direction book went - I am a sucker for angst and this was kinda needed in the series. While all books in the series have been both fun and serious, this book includes 80% of angst, seriousness, and lots and lots of secrets. Secrets that should not be found out. ► STORY & CHARACTERS: Everything was well - photo-shooting fun, living together, everything. But then Ty got a call from Nick. Ty and Zane found each other in a place both of them have connection - Ty's could be life threathing. And just when Ty & Zane met with Nick and their other marine friends to have fun, mourn and celebrate the birthday of their friend who passed away, a threat from their past comes knocking on their door. And then EVERYTHING goes to hell. This is the game changer book in Cut & Run series where EVERYTHING goes WRONG. Every. Single. Thing. In first six books, everything was perfect, especially in the last book - Ty and Zane's relationship went in right direction and rainbows were everywhere. Don't expect this book to be the same. It broke my heart - many many times, and I still haven't recovered from that ending. There are many secrets in this book - the secrets that could shatter everything they built together. And the consequences of finding out are drastic, dramatic and heart breaking. “Zane,” Ty said, his voice hoarse. He cleared his throat. He seemed to be fighting to meet Zane’s eyes. “There’s something . . . something I’ve been keeping from you.” The story focused also Ty's and Zane's pasts. Zane and his wife going to bars and meeting strangers. Ty's long lost friends and past lovers. And everything is connected. One way or another. And we finally meet the famous Sidewinder group - Kelly, Digger, Owen. And then we have Liam - a very mysterious person whose agendas are not so clear and Ava Gaudet, woman Ty once liked, but left her. ✍ ☘ ❦ ☕ ❂ ✄ ☸ ⚡ ⚓ ☁ ☂ ✎ ✍ ☘ ❦ ☕ ❂ ✄ ☸ ⚡ ⚓ ☁ ⚠ *MINOR SPOILERS, BUT DON'T READ IF YOU PREFER FINDING OUT ON YOUR OWN*⚠ Ty & Zane: Ty is keeping BIG secret from Zane - and when Zane finds out what he wasn't supposed to know, everything starts falling down. And no matter how much Ty struggles to repair what has been broken and explain what is going on, Zane is too hurt to even listen to him and what he was saying. And then Zane went too far - something Ty didn't deserve, AT ALL. This is where their relationship meets their ultimate challenge. There is NO GOING BACK. Some lines are not meant to be crossed and some things are hard to forgive or forget. But, Ty loves Zane too much to let him go without a fight. “I’m an assassin,” Ty said, his voice unsteady. “I’m a killer. I’m the tip of a spear.” I believe it was not Ty who crossed the line here - he only tried to protect their bond - to make it right again - some secrets are better off never been said. But it was either that, or to lose Zane forever - a big gamble which proved to have bigger consequences any of them could imagine. And Zane, Zane crossed the line MANY times. I understand how betrayed he felt and how devastating the truth must have felt, but he crossed the line more than once and said things that hurt Ty even more, unwilling to listen to him at all. And this is what hurt the most. ► OVERALL: Fantastic sequel, if not the best in the whole series, given the emotional investment, character development and lot of things going on - I couldn't even put this book down, thats how fast my time passed. Prepare your heart - a lot of missiles will come flying at it. ► REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK: ◉ Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) ◉ Sticks & Stones (Cut & Run, #2) ◉ Fish & Chips (Cut & Run, #3) ◉ Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run, #4) ◉ Warrior's Cross (Cut & Run #4.5) ◉ Armed & Dangerous (Cut & Run, #5) ◉ Stars & Stripes (Cut & Run, #6) ◉ Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run, #7) ◉ Shock & Awe (Sidewinder, #1; Cut & Run #7.5) ◉ Ball & Chain (Cut & Run, #8) ◉ Cross & Crown (Sidewinder, #2; Cut & Run #8.5) ◉ Crash & Burn (Cut & Run, #9) ◉ Part & Parcel (Sidewinder, #3; Cut & Run #9.5) ...more |

Don't let them beat you. Don't let them steal your magic.” Oh my god. What a book. What a fantastic-twisted-sadistic-manipulative story of Peter Pan....But it's nothing like the Peter Pan i knew. This story is so dark, very very dark, and even though i read some dark books, they were nothing like this. Some may even want to throw something out of the window (like i did with poor pencil) after they finish the book. And i have to say one thing - my childhood PP will never be the same (because i will be traumatized for life because of this Peter xD). Oh, and the artwork! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! Oh, and there were pixies!!! Little, cute, but sadistic as hell xD [image] ► STORY: Once, there was a boy called Nick. He has a hard and difficult life. His family got involved with drug dealers and he got into problems. He would have been murdered or worse if not for his mysterious savior. “The boy planted his hands on his hips and a broad smile lit his face. "My name's Peter. Can I play too?” Peter is not of this world and he has come to find children. He found one. And he saved him. So, he showed him a way into another world. Nick thought he didn't have anything to loose, so why not.... but... There is always more to lose. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* It's fantastic, and it's quite enjoyable and so addicting. Also, the writing style is gorgeous. I just couldn't put the book down and go do the usual stuff in my life (ifyouknowwhatimean?.jpg). Prepare to have your emotions wracked, maybe you will feel a hand gripping your heart, but the end, end was wtf all the way. Also, the book is quite psychological. Never had i expected that a book could end with such a plot twist O_O... Oh, some may even say this book is disturbing...Of course it is, it was the point! Because in a way, this is perfect horror. When I, for example, finished the book, i just sat, and thought hours about it....And i still think a lot about it... Oh yes, and i cried like a baby. Anyway, the book is simply, a masterpiece. And it's hell of a unique, even though the story is actually mix of Celtic myths, of Avalon, of Peter Pan (not the disney version, but the original - which had hints of darkness in Peter, which readers usually miss - though i haven't read original, the quotes Brom put in afterword were quite disturbing), and it all makes even more sense when you read what author wrote in the end of the book. Oh, the most important thing of them all: there is no Tinkerbell and Peter doesn't fly. ► CHARACTERS: Also, the characters were all unique in every way, they struggle, they fight, they have fun, they suffer and they die. He made the characters understandable and very very real. And here i wonder how it is possible to hate and love the same character in the same time? This is the case with Peter . [image] He is seductive manipulating sociopath, and can be cruel, very very cruel, and horrible like a monster. But he also cares, he loves,he is great leader and has natural charisma. But he doesn't understand everything, and it confuses him, and he.....goes insane. He saves children from cruel fates, the abused, tortured, the ones with nowhere to go and takes them to Avalon to fight war, but not for him, but for Lady of the lake. After i read Afterword left by author, i truly understood him. He is just so...weird and he made me what all the way (usually wtf)... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Nick, on the other hand, is complete opposite, and is the only one who truly understands what is going on. That is why i loved him a lot, for in the end, he was more mature than any other lost child in Avalon. The only one who actually understood. [image] ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Other character were complex as hell as well - some of them are quite easy to understand, and some were quite difficult to figure out, until the very end. Well, to put it this way, some are tyrants, some sadistic, horrible, disgusting, cute, hugable, likeable, bullies, insane, manipulative, and many many more.... I just noticed something! There was no alligator in the story xD!!! ► OVERALL: Fantastic book, but its quite dark - some may like it, but some may not. But in a way it is and it always will be, a masterpiece for me :) “Go and play. Run around. Build something. Break something. Climb a tree. Get dirty. Get in some trouble. Have some fun.” This review can be found on my blog: infinity-of-time.blogspot.com also known as... [image] ...more |

It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.” I think i have made a mistake of reading this as soon as i have read Tell the wolves i'm home. Both of the books were such emotional roller coasters that i have finally broken down and sobbed whole night....But both of them are epically beautiful and strong novels which i would highly recommend to everyone! The story is quite sad, as a reader, you prepare yourself - because you know in advance that the main character of this story - Hazel - is dying because of cancer. And yet, it strikes you hard in the chest until you are one mess of tears. Meet our heroine Hazel Grace: [image] And the one who took even my heart - Augustus: [image] Their love is starcrossed. Their love is beautiful. Their love is tragic. They are doomed, but they love each other with all of their hearts. So of course I tensed up when he touched me. To be with him was to hurt him—inevitably. And that’s what I’d felt as he reached for me: I’d felt as though I were committing an act of violence against him, because I was. I just do not have any more words to express how deeply this book touched me. I can't stop thinking about it, or thinking about the characters. I loved Hazel,Augustus and Isaac ( do not worry, he is not a love competition, just their friend), their struggles, their hopes, their dreams. Do not despair though, this book has fun moments as well! One of my most favorite are watching of movie 300 which is my favorite movie of all time, and i couldn't help laughing on their comments! I think i will never stop loving this book. [image] And that's it...This book is just so wonderful that i can't even write a proper review... This book is LEGEND-wait for it-DARYYYYYYYYYYYY! 2. Seriously, one of the best books i have ever read. 3. The book which is officially my 300th read one. 4. The type of book which i always wanted to read. 5. The one that i will never regret buying. 6. And the one which made me cry like a baby. 7. Look at that unresistable Serbian edition cover which i own: [image] Isn't it beautiful? Now, i have read a lot of high/epic fantasy and i love many authors like Jordan and Martin. All of their series are full of magic, mythical beings, races and elements of High fantasy. After i read this book i can place David Gemmmell as one of my fav authors and this book in my favorites. Legend is different. It has little magic, and the magic it has is unique and interesting. The story is more about siege of Dros Delnoch. It has everything i love, siege, strategy, drama, romance, great characters and loving couples.
While we are at drama, i cried last 200 pages of the book, so thank god i didn't destroy it with my tears.... ► CHARACTERS: There are many characters and they all get special place in the book. We find a lot about them, their lives, their pasts, and they are all deep characters which you will love.
There is also romance between Rek and Virae. They were sweet and loving couple. I enjoyed every moment of their romance :D ► OVERALL: The ending was great, and the book can be read standalone but i will certainly read other books as well, because David Gemmell proved to be Legend as much as this book is. What i liked: ☑ war strategies ☑ the construction of Dros Delnoch ☑ The magic System ☑ That the magic was not the main point in the book ☑ I loved all the characters, including women which rarely happens ☑ I loved how David Gemmell made the characters deep, revealed their pasts and made POVs with different people. ☑ I especially love how the book ended (view spoiler)[ With Rek and company going to the Nadir party before the end (hide spoiler)] ☑ I loved the romance (Gemmell didn't over do it) and besides they were a cute couple ☑ and all the drama (MAJOR SPOILER (view spoiler)[ especially when Virae and Serbitar died (hide spoiler)] ) what i DIDN'T like: ☒ hm....now that i think of it, there was nothing i didn't like.... This book is perfect in every way. Now, excuse me while i go to cry again :( Edit 04. Dec. 2015: Looking back at this review, I am sad that I didn't write much more detailed review for it. Because of this I will have to sit down one day, reread the book and write a new version of my review. ► REVIEW(S) RELATED TO THIS BOOK: ◈ Legend (Drenai Saga, #1) ◈ Waylander (Drenai Saga, #3) ◈ Quest for Lost Heroes (The Drenai Saga, #4) ...more |
