The beginning of this was a bit rocky and could've used another round of edits in my opinion, but I'm glad I stuck it out because overall, this was a delightful book. It has a slower, looser plot than what I normally read, but the cast of characters kept me engaged through the entire thing. The worldbuilding was excellent too, and I liked seeing the ways magic is used alongside technology, especially with respect to things like transit and the Archive. Byrd was such a fun character to follow along, and I really loved Maisie and Simone as well. I always love when a character's love interest isn't the only person who's important to them, and those friendships were a big part of what made me enjoy this book.
There were some clunky and confusing sentences throughout (enough that I noticed and wanted to edit, but not so many that I contemplated putting the book down because of it), but the descriptions of everything were a delight, especially the outfits. I'm someone who always notices what people are wearing, so I loved that those details were included.
The end felt a little rushed and I think there could've been more setup for things about Byrd's identity, but overall, this was a lovely read with a really cool setting and I'll definitely be picking up the next book in the series.

I loved Cassandra and how prickly she was, and she paired perfectly with Apollo. Super curious to see how the events set up in this book play out as well....more

An important graphic novel on a topic that’s not discussed enough. I wish more people would read this in hopes of understanding what it’s like to have an eating disorder as a fat person (and how even “harmless little comments” can hurt so much.)...more
