Okay, so this author listed out the tropes in this fun little romance, so I will focus on that for this review.

Fake dating: 5/5. Genuinely, sometimes this one is done so poorly, and that is always because of a third-act breakup. WHICH THIS ONE DOES NOT HAVE!!! Of course, there are problems that they have to overcome. But instead of them fighting each other, they fight the WORLD. I am obsessed with how well this was done.
Ex’s rival: 3/5. Was very funny in parts. The only downside is I felt the ex was extremely forgettable to the point that it was hard to hate him because I forgot that was part of the plot in the middle. Maybe he should have been more evil. It didn't really take away from the story, though; it just didn't add much.
Pro hockey: 4/5. As an ex-ice girl for an NHL team (so obviously, I am (not) an expert), the hockey parts were done very well and added to the story rather than took away from it, which is usually the case with hockey romances. I loved the team banter too.
Golden retriever hero: 5/5. LOVED this. Sure, he has trauma, but he is just out here to have a good time with her in the end which is always what I am looking for.
Boy obsessed: 5/5. I'm not going to lie. I had to think for a minute about what this one meant. But yes, the fact that Rory was so obsessed with her was perfect. It made me enjoy it so much.
Forced proximity: 4/5. There are a few instances of this. Having to share a bed? But that was kind of their choice but it was well done. Then, more obviously, she worked for the team that he played on and so they had a lot of banter in the beginning.
Well done. Hats off. Cannot wait for the next one. ...more

OKAY. So I do recognize that books that the last three books have been kind of similar in plot but I ATE IT UP EACH TIME. I already need the next one.

Why You Should Read This Series:
1. Did you grow up reading Wattpad or A03? The pacing is giving those really long books that you just cannot put down. I think that is why I am so addicted to the way this series is written. So much happens and yet we are still on the same path.
OR
Do you like playing DND? It kind of gives that as well. There are lots of character interactions, some random fights, and a goal that kind of feels like it could go on forever but also finish in one session. Obviously, this book also has a lot of sex in it, which I am hoping your DND sessions do not, but I guess I won't judge.
2. Do you like books where the characters actually enjoy each other's company? These ones do in a few different ways, and the characters are FUN! I love how they are growing, and it is fun when they all interact with each other.
Sometimes we just have to read because we enjoy reading. And that is what Marie Mistry gives me time and time again. ...more

“IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A LITERARY MASTERPIECE, THIS MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU. This is not your typical fantasy novel in the way that there is no overarching background plot or big villain. The plot focuses solely on the romance between the two main characters. The main characters make a few morally black choices in the name of protecting their relationship (never toward each other), and at some point you might think, “That might be too far.” Do not take this book too seriously, as it was written to be a fun, quick read with a bit of “that’s fucked up” thrown into the mix. There is a 50/50 chance you’ll have a good time reading it. Good luck.”
Like how hilarious. And they were right that I had about 1/2 of a good time reading it. ...more
