Das Buch habe ich mit Tina zusammen gelesen und ohne diesen Buddyread hätte ich es nicht durchgezogen. Fangen wir mit Lissie an, bei der ich mich als Lesende einfach unwohl gefühlt habe. Sie ist in so vielen cringe und fremdschämenden Situationen, dass ich einfach den Kopf schütteln musste. Bzw. sind es noch nicht mal die Situationen sondern sie selbst. Sie verhält sich nicht wie eine Erwachsene Person es tun sollte, ganz ehrlich noch nicht mal mit keine Ahnung wie vielen Jahren sollte man sich so verhalten. Hell no! Alle Charaktere sind so unglaublich horny und sexualisieren wirklich alles, was nicht auf drei aufm Baum ist. Die Dialoge waren teilweise so unangenehm und auch die Beziehungen. Ob die Freundschaft zwischen Lissie und James oder dann Lissie und Kara, alles war super toxisch. Also für mich ein absolutes Nope, sorry. ...more

Die Charaktere und auch die Hanndlung ist so unglaublich süß und authentisch, dass ich am liebsten gleich deswegen weinen könnte...Ich hab deswegen geweint, sein wir mal ehrlich. Yu Qi und Yuanzi sind beide die sympathischten Charaktere, die mir je unter die Nase gekommen sind. Ob ihr Erwachsenes-Ich oder ihr Teenager-Ich, ich liebe die beiden und wünschte ihnen würde niemals was schlechtes passieren. Leider trifft die geschichte nur davon, dass es kein Happy End geben wird...Ich hoffe trotzdem, dass es ein bisschen happy ist! Ich freue mich sehr auf Volume 3, aber hab auch ein bisschen Angst.

Ähnlich wie in den vorherigen Thrillern dieser Autorin bereichern auch in diesem Buch Perspektivwechsel und Zeitsprünge die Geschichte. Auf einer EbenÄhnlich wie in den vorherigen Thrillern dieser Autorin bereichern auch in diesem Buch Perspektivwechsel und Zeitsprünge die Geschichte. Auf einer Ebene erleben wir die Ereignisse aus den Blickwinkeln von Saffy und ihrer Mutter Lorna. Als die Leichen in Saffys Garten entdeckt werden, versuchen die beiden gemeinsam mit Saffys Ehemann, etwas Licht ins Dunkel zu bringen. Dann haben wir immer mal wieder Sprünge in die Vergangenheit und begleiten die Großmutter von Saffy. Ich mochte die Charaktere sehr gerne in diesem Buch und vor allem haben mir die Familiendynamiken gefallen. Auch die Männer mochte ich mal in diesem Buch und Tom war echt ein liebevoller Ehemann. Saffy und Lorna sind sehr unterschiedlich aber beides sind sehr starke Frauen und ich mochte es aus ihren Sichtweisen zu lesen.
Die Handlung war in diesem Buch etwas ruhiger, aber das heißt nicht, dass es nicht spannend war. Es gab wieder einige Plottwists und Wendungen, aber manche Sachen waren auch ein bisschen vorhersehbar. Mir fehlte der gewisse Kick, aber ich mochte es auch mal einen eher ruhigen und nicht ganz so brutalen Thriller zu lesen. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und packend. Die Autorin/Vorname des Autors versteht es, die Spannung kontinuierlich zu steigern und mich als Leser immer wieder in die Irre zu führen. Die kurzen Kapitel und der Wechsel zwischen verschiedenen Perspektiven haben das Tempo erhöht und die Geschichte noch dynamischer gestaltet.
Das Ende kam dann doch etwas unerwartet und ich wollte das Buch unbedingt beenden. Claire Douglas schafft es immer wieder auf den letzten Seiten nochmal eine Wendung einzubauen, die man definitiv nicht kommen sieht.
Fazit
Ich gebe diesem Buch 4 Sterne, da es wieder eine sehr spannende Geschichte war, aber mir ein bisschen das gewisse Etwas gefehlt hat. Wer sich gerne an das Genre Thriller heranwagen möchte, ist mit diesem Buch definitiv gut aufgehoben. Viel Spaß beim lesen!

Genau da knüpft auch gleich der zweite Teil an und die Spannung hält sich von Seite 1 bis zum Ende. Was ich beim ersten Band noch bemängelt habe, findet man hier nicht wieder und wo Band 1 hauptsächlich bei mir mit den Charakteren punkten konnte, gleicht dieser Teil gekonnt aus. Hier trifft einfach die perfekte Mischung aufeinander.
Aber fangen wir mal mit den Charakteren an, die mir schon in Band 1 ans Herz gewachsen sind. Ich klaue hier mal die Worte meiner tollen Buddyread Partnerin Tina, die meinte, dass Winnie und Jo einfach leise Charaktere sind. Das passt einfach perfekt und ich liebe es. Meistens hat man in Geschichten eher laute Charaktere, aber hier ist das nicht so. Wir erleben viel von vor allem Winnies Gedanken und Anne Pätzold schafft es einfach diese so nah zu uns Leser:innen zu transportieren. Man kann sie eigentlich nur sofort ins Herz schließen und es ist herzzerreißend, da man einfach mit ihr leiden muss. Aber auch Jo muss man einfach mögen! Anne trifft die richtigen Worte für ihre Charaktere und es ist trotz der auch schweren Thematiken ein reines Wohlfühlbuch.
Weiterhin habe ich es geliebt, dass wir hier ein bisschen mehr über die Vampir-Thematik erfahren. Die Autorin benutzt allgemein bekannte Konzepte und gibt ihnen aber definitiv mehr Pep. Besonders lustig fand ich die Szene mit einem Charakter, der urplötzlich in diese Welt hineinfällt und erstmal alle Klischees aus Film, Fernsehen und Büchern abklappert. Das war einfach sehr amüsant, weil so hätte ich wahrscheinlich auch reagiert. Man kann das Rad nicht neu erfinden, aber Anne Pätzold macht das auf ihre Art irgendwie doch ein bisschen. Ich hatte einfach total viel Spaß beim Lesen.
Fazit
Ich mag einfach die Geschichten und vor allem den Schreibstil von Anne Pätzold und freue mich soooo unglaublich auf den nächsten und letzten Teil der Reihe. Das Ende war echt mies und ich finde es frech, dass ich jetzt so lange warten muss *insert sad Vici here*. Danke nochmal an die Bloggerjury und den Lyx Verlag für das Rezensionsexemplar.
