My thoughts, to be honest, were rather frustrating and mixed. If I recall properly, the first and third acts include particularly good parts.

Metamorphosis is somehow a weird and tragic story. I really deeply feel sorry for Gregor and his family.
I would say the point towards the ending is kind of a plot twist since I'm not really expecting it to turn out towards the line. More of an open ending.
Overall, this was a good read. I really did find some Fyodor themes aspect here. ....more

Venturing my way towards classic books, I expected that I'll have a hard time— basing from my experience on feading Wuthering Heights and Iliad and Odyssey. You could say that I expected that my experience would be excruciating.
However, this short story begs to disagree and surprised and, at the same time, destroyed me in many levels of human consciousness despite my knowing of such phenomenon.
I also would say I disagree with some that the narrator is nothing but mediocre— it is in many levels untrue. Although I get their argument that the narrator mirrors a good, honourable, and usually a modern 2nd male lead to some modern romances which the male lead is usually a fucked up of an existence.
Setting those aside, when I said that this short story destroyed me in many levels of human consciousness— this is because the fact that it resonated, spoke, and I relate to the dilemma that White Nights— the struggle of one's satisfaction in life— or should I say one whom is at loss of oneself and the destructive view of life and love that I myself is guilty of.

I was slightly disturbed by the narration of the fighting or the deaths but it was still an amazing read for me since I'm such a Greek addict and will definitely reread this again soon.
I still hate The Odyssey though, but the adventure was such a ride, probably gonna rate it a 3 stars for it's parts or perhaps a 3.5....more
