The premise held so much promise, but it fell a bit short for me. The worldbuilding felt a tad inconsistent, lacking that true cyberpunk essence I was craving. There were moments when the dialogue left me a bit puzzled. Toward the end, the pacing could have been spruced up a bit. However, I have to admit, the characters were vibrant and the plot had its captivating moments. While it didn't fully satisfy my expectations, I believe fans of dystopian romance might find enjoyment in it....more

The narrative introduces three tech CEOs orchestrating their survival, weaving in elements of private weather control, technological prophecy, and covert weapons. A diverse group, including the daughter of a cult leader and a non-binary hacker, takes center stage, hatching a daring plan to counter the billionaire's destructive agenda. The book's swift pace, short chapters, and unexpected twists create a gripping experience with surprises at every turn. Alderman masterfully constructs a world rich in technological advances, avoiding predictability while offering a thought-provoking reflection on real-world economic power dynamics. I highly recommend this original, and pertinent read....more

The story is set in a dystopian world where a wasteland surrounds the last city on Earth, and the Archive, where the genes of the dead are stored, is the only hope for humanity's survival. It is a quick read. I enjoyed the elements of science fiction, fantasy, and mythology. The characters are well-developed. However, so many POVs were too much from y perspective for a novella; it could've been extended. If you like dystopian fiction, retellings, and Greek mythology stories, this novella might be for you. The audiobook narrated by Dion Graham and January LaVoy enhanced the story, and I recommend you get this version. ...more

However, it was entertaining after the slow start. I hope the next book brings more into the story and is better developed. The idea of marketing like other more famous dystopian and fantasy books is understandable, but I think the mythology the author wrote is a better way to make this unique and drag more readers, it's refreshing and original. If the author could get a few fixes into this story in the following book I think it would bring more readers.

The characters were very lightly constructed, a mix of famous dystopian stories, yet I wanted to get into it but sadly this time traveling story is not up to my expectations.

I was intrigued with the combination of these genres and it was a good read. Very entertaining, it hooked me up from the start. I liked the refreshing way Marek was compared to my usual reads. I also liked Zae, and how they both meet. Definitely, worth giving it a chance, I really liked and this new duo will be on my tbr future list.

I love this dystopian story, it reminds me of some good ones I enjoyed before like Divergent. The pacing is a bit slow for my liking, especially for this genre, but really enjoy the story. The characters are quite interesting and the world-building is fantastic.
