Ritsu is a sweetheart and I hope he finds someone else because he deserves it. He took Aki’s rejection with dignity and even assists Aki and the boss as a much needed wingman. I’m hoping that next volume we get even more progress on the boss and Aki’s relationship but big steps were taken this volume for sure....more

I was already disappointed when I took it out oBummed because I didn’t think this volume was as good as the first. It was also significantly shorter. I was already disappointed when I took it out of the box and could see it was shorter than the first but then I read it and saw that there was a large chunk of pages taken up by kodansha ads and a preview of another work by the author (a standalone I own but haven’t read yet).
Somewhat surprisingly, I didn’t mind having another miscommunication plot be the basis of this volume because I still found it funny. That being said, I do hope that it’s resolved quickly next volume so we can move on to other things. My real gripe with this volume was that I wanted there to be more progress in Hashimoto and Shirase’s relationship and we really didn’t get that at all. Hashimoto still gets embarrassed when Shirase kisses him and they’re still acting far more like friends, roommates, and coworkers than they are boyfriends.
Because of how this volume started, I thought the main goal of this volume was going to be for Hashimoto and Shirase to get more on the same page and actually become more romantic in their relationship. Like I understand they haven’t been together for a super long time and people move at their own paces but it just feels to me like they should’ve made more progress by now, especially since Hashimoto worries about not treating Shirase enough like a boyfriend. And it seems like Shirase just moves at the pace Hashimoto sets out of fear of rushing him too much. Which it’s great that he’s being respectful of that but at the same time I think Hashimoto could do with a gentle nudge. At the very least I think the two should have a more upfront conversation with each other so they can be on the same track and maybe make some meaningful progress. I still like the story a lot, I’m just hoping next volume will be better.
Side note, I still love Kumada (Ren!) and Atsushi is very cute as well. Fingers crossed still that Ren will end up with someone else as the second couple because he’s a sweet kid, he deserves it. ...more

I love seeing them be vulnerable with each other and then also be goofy and cute together.
But the plot this volume wow! I definitely did not think that Rion was alive, and I definitely wouldn’t have expected something like that to be revealed this early on either. I was also stunned to learn that Ichiro’s boss is actually a good guy, who woulda thunk it. I will be eagerly awaiting the next volume. ...more

The cat Chiko was a highlight as well, so adorable.
The sex scenes were good too and no lightsabers is always unexpected. Plus, characters engaging in prep and actually using lube?? Ya love to see it haha.
A sweet first volume that I honestly think would be fine as a stand-alone as well. Will definitely be picking up the other two volumes in the series. ...more

Not that I hated the first one or anything but I found myself enjoying these stories more. The first one had moments that felt kind of ooc to me but this one didn’t really strike me like that. I especially liked the last story, the trio hanging out means so much to me and I liked the look at how both Itadori’s loss and his subsequent return affected all three of them. It was also cool to get a look at characters we don’t get to know as much. Kokichi’s especially pulls at the heartstrings given that he’s such a tragic character. ...more

**spoiler alert** The world building on this is really interesting. Like I was expecting a super progressive world since everyone starts as non-binary**spoiler alert** The world building on this is really interesting. Like I was expecting a super progressive world since everyone starts as non-binary but unfortunately gender norms (and seemingly heteronormativity) are still very much a thing, like with Ritsu being pushed towards being a boy since she was more sporty at the time, and queer relationships maybe are just not a thing at all? It’s a bit hard to tell on the latter since that hasn’t really been brought up, just my assumption from what’s happened thus far.
As far as the story itself goes, I’m not quite as interested probably because so far I don’t really like any of the characters except for Hinase? I personally am not a huge love triangle person (unless it’s going to lead to a throuple) because I don’t like one person being sad in the end, but my main issue right now is the way that Shiori and Ritsu are acting towards Hinase after their confessions. Saying I’ll make you a boy/girl felt super gross to me and I was glad that Ritsu felt bad about it and told Hinase she didn’t actually mean that. But then to change tracks and say well I’d prefer you to be a boy just because she’s feeling competitive with Shiori? These children are too much.
I don’t know, I just feel bad for Hinase having all this pushed onto them when it seems like they really do like being nonbinary. Or maybe things will go the opposite way and they will be the first gender-fluid person in their world. But between the friends trying to push their preferences onto Hinase and the doctor, not a lot of likable characters imo. The doctor gave me a weird vibe initially and then to tell his brother about a patient’s test results just because they’re his friend is not cool, and then to hide something potentially life threatening from Hinase is also not cool. Although maybe the pressure to pick a gender would actually be bad for them and we don’t know yet what caused the Polish person’s death yet so maybe this is a trick and everything is actually fine.
This is probably my longest review of anything ever and all this to say that I’m definitely interested enough to pick up the next volume. ...more
