Par contre je pense que certains d'entre vous pourrait y trouver leur compte, cette histoire est décrite par certains avis positifs comme triste/ touchante, un livre qui ne cherche pas l'édulcoration de la réalité, un récit tragique avec des dénonciations nécessaires etc
Les + : • l'auteure à une belle plume • la couverture est sublime, bcp + jolie que la VO • le sujet de la dépression post partum
Les - (et y en bcp) : • un triangle amoureux classique avec d'un côté un homme qui ne fait rien pour conquérir son rer amour et un autre qui ne saisit pas la chance d'avoir une femme qui l'a attendu jusqu'à son retour de la guerre. • on nous dit que c une fiction historique avec de la romance mais l'auteure décrit très peu la période pendant la guerre de la Corée sous l'occupation américaine. • un livre assez déprimant déjà que le contexte historique est pas tacile mais si en + de ça tu n'ajoutes aucune touche d'espoir ça l'est encore +. Je sais que y a des livres qui ne sont pas là pour vendre du rêve mais si tu décides que tous tes personnages soient malheureux, font constamment des mauvais choix et restent bloqué dans leur pessimisme, à côté de ça, créé un perso qui nous rappel ces gens qui se sont battu pour être heureux, par respect pour les sud-coreens qui ont été reconnaissant de survivre à la guerre. C'est aussi ça la realité, j'en ai lu des livres se deroualnt à la meme période + éprouvante + sombre et pour vous dire même dans ces livres ont n'oubliait pas l'espoir. Attention je ne suis pas la entrain de dire que je minimise les dégâts physiques et psychologiques de l'après guerte, je trouvais juste frustant de ne voir aucune lueur d'espoir tout le long du récit. (Oui ça fait bep d'espoir mdr) • très peu d'élément qui nous mettent dans l'ambiance coréenne, à part l'évocation de la tenue traditionnelle le hanbok, mais aussi des nouilles et les termes comme Nuna, Hyung, Halmeoni (j'en ai peur être oublié) • Roman trop long et décousu. L’auteure n'a pas su assemblé subtilement les 3 sujets majeurs de son histoire, c'est à dire le triangle amoureux, le contexte historique et les problèmes de santé mentaux. • on est passé de 3 pov dans les premières parties à 5 pov, les pov en + n'ont apporté rien de + y en avait même un en particulier qui m'avait grave énervé mais bref • et pour terminer j'étais obligé de parlé du smut dans ce livre nan déjà que c'était pas romantique la plupart du temps en partie du à des raisons que je peux même pas vous dire (car spoiler +++) mais aussi parce que dsl c pas son truc je crois. Je tiens à vous rappeler cette phrase « pour la ere fois, j'aurais aimé que mon lait revienne pour qu'il puisse goûter chaque partie de moi » Madame si c votre fantasme on avait pas besoin de le savoir hein, l'image n'est pas très tentante et puis c pas des bails qu'on voit uniquement sur le dark web ça ???...more

Aussi, lorsqu'elle remporte un concours pour restaurer le manoir du défunt Myrddin, elle est persuadée que c'est un signe du destin. Domaine décrépit sur le point de s'effondrer dans une mer affamée, le Manoir d'Hiraeth est un lieu perché à la frontière entre les mondes, peuplé d'êtres mystérieux. Parmi eux se trouve Preston Héloury, jeune étudiant en littérature, bien déterminé à prouver que Myrddin est un imposteur. Dans cette histoire on est plongé dans une ambiance sombre et gothique, dans un cadre Dark academia. Ou il règne un climat assez étrange et mystérieux. Le mélange des atmosphères font de ce livre une expérience unique même si j’aurai aimé que le côté féerique ressort un peu plus.
C'est très bien écrit, et j'ai trouvé la plume très agréable malgré la lenteur du récit pendant les trois quarts du livre.
Le message principal est le sexisme institutionnel, il est super bien développé ! MAIS j’ai trouvé que ça prenait trop le dessus sur l’histoire, du coup le worldbuilding manquait de profondeur, j aurai aimé en savoir un peu plus sur le conflit entre les Llyr et les Argant, aussi le développement des personnages aurait pu être mieux travaillé. J’ai trouvé aussi que certains passages étaient irréalistes ex : Effy est la seule femme qui a été accepté dans le programme d’architecture et tous les hommes avec qui elle entame une discussion finissent par avoir un comportement déplacé. Genre dans tout ce bled y a que Preston qui est bon, mais genre vraiment. Je sais pas….c’etait bizarre.
Concernant le trope Rival to lovers c’est pas vraiment ça, ils ont des objectifs et des opinions différent, mais ne sont pas ennemis ou rivales, par contre leur île sont en guerre et c’est peut être pour ça que les lecteurs voient leur relation comme un rivals to lovers. Et y a juste Effy qui avait des doutes au début mais qui se sont très vite dissipé.
Pour les personnages , Effy, risque peut être de vous énerver par son comportement, elle a sa façon bien à elle de gérer ses traumas, elle est courageuse à sa manière et ne se sent pas toujours prête à les affronter. Vu qu’elle est anxieuse et a des troubles mentaux du à ses traumatismes, parfois j’ai eu ce sentiment de pas trop lui faire confiance. Heureusement que y a Preston pour rééquilibrer tout ça, il est sympa, intelligent, attentionné et franc. Ils se sont bien complété mais leur romance slowburn ne m’a pas touché plus que ça, même si j’ai trouvé 2-3 passages super mignon.
Le plot et la révélation sont top, ça colle parfaitement avec l’histoire mais wesh comment des intellectuels comme Effy et Preston ont-ils pu ne pas remarquer une telle évidence ?
C’est un solide 3 ⭐️ Je pense que j’aurai mis une note plus élevé si je l’avais lu durant la période automnale (oui je suis ce genre de meuf) en gros si j’étais un peu plus dans le mood quoi. Certes ce livre ne va pas plaire à tout le monde car il est très contemplatif, il faut aimé la littérature et être intéressé par les mystères qui règnent autour de certaines œuvres. Mais à côté de ça l’auteure vous offre de belles proses, un mélange atmosphérique inoubliable et une intrigue bien pensée malgré une construction de l’univers assez pauvre.
