This is completely absurd and full of family and absurdity (everyone is a genius! Everyone is in therapy! Everyone has diagnosed mood disorders! Everyone is rich and powerful! Everyone is full of feuds! Despite all this, nothing is taken seriously!) and I enjoyed it a lot.

Stephanie Oh, I love this series! The first couple of books didn't quite work for me, but from Book 3 or 4 onwards, they've become total auto-buys for me, and this one is one of my favorites!

Oh good to know! I really enjoyed this one, but it's always tricky when you start with book 8 and then have to go back.

Yes! I started with Bite Me, which is right near the end, then went back and read all the way through from the beginning, but I think the first one (chronologically) that I liked enough to buy was #4. (I know it starred Gwen and Locke, but I can't remember the title offhand!) I also really, really loved her novella "Miss Congeniality", which is linked into the series - it's the one about how Irene and Holtz became a couple. I love icy genius heroines!

- and I just checked - it is #4, The Mane Squeeze, where I thought the series became really good. But obviously, YMMV! I know there are people who love the first few books, and in the end, I did read all the way through them to get backstory. But I wanted to issue a warning just because the first time I ever tried the series, I started with Book 1, was really disappointed, and gave up on the series until I was finally convinced to try again with Book 9 (!), so - if you read the earlier ones and don't like them, it might be worth trying to read the series from #4 onwards instead.

Excellent information, thank you.
