IS THIS AS GOOD AS THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO?
That was my main question when I picked up this book. Sadly, no.
There was a lot of potential but I felt like the story wasn't flesh out enough. I highly recommend listening to this one as an audiobook due to the format (interviews).
Reminded me a bit of A Star Is Born, but maybe less tragic and with a very confident main female character. The characters were definitely attaching but I felt like there should have been more. 300 pages of interview is quite short.
Overall good, would recommend but not a favorite!

Go with the audio book and stick to it! the first 30 % is meh, but the rest.- OMG, the rest. Also, full cast on the audio book and the format is perfect!!! :D :D

Not sure if this helps, but I absolutely loved Evelyn Hugo and thought that Daisy Jones was even better! Reid is taking the parts of Evelyn Hugo that worked really well (telling other people's stories through the investigative journalist/novelist angle, revealing emotions layered within secrets) and just really making it shine in Daisy Jones. Plus the interview format is insanely clever. Hope you like it!
Evelyn Hugo is currently my absolute favorite book I’ve read in the last year and I’m reading Daisy Jones now so I understand your feelings. I’m still in the first half of DJ and I’m not completely in love with it yet. However, the part I ended on last night is making me feel like some really good stuff is coming and I’m excited to hopefully finish it this weekend and feel what everyone else seems to feel about DJ! 😊
The audiobook is absolutely amazing! I haven’t read Seven Husbands yet, but it made me really want to! Checked it out of my library yesterday!
I think it'll come down to if you like the format. I liked the story but it wasn't as good as Evelyn Hugo for me, but I loved the format so I gave an extra star for that. It's even better as an audiobook.
Please listen to the audiobook for this! It’s absolutely amazing because it’s full cast and the narrators are great. Also, I actually loved this book even more than Evelyn Hugo tbh
Don't put any pressure on it, it's not as good (or am I only saying this do you wont put pressure on it but its actually amazing? Who knows)
I just finished the audiobook, I HIGHLY recommend it! I was also thinking I'd be disappointed, and the beginning of it is mildly interesting but omg it gets sooooo good.
me too. I read 2 of her older works. They were fine but different. They had interesting perspective. So I assume this one will too.
I feel the same way as you. I just keep hearing how amazing it is and it just makes me not want to read it as it scares me as my expectations are wicked high now.
Audiobook! And be patient with the first hour or so. As someone who doesn’t care for rock and roll like that, I was nervous but it was very good. If you loved the character development in Evelyn Hugo, you will enjoy this. This one was so vivid in my head the entire time.
I'm so curious to see what you think once you read it :O I finished it today and I'm still so angry about it. (the fact that I love 70s music and know quite a bit of band history from those times didn't help). I was sure I would love it, ended up rating it one and a half stars.
I listened to the audiobook. And im really confused as to why everyone likes it. I hate being that person..
(P.S. I’m not finished with it yet, so can’t say anything about how it is overall, but the audiobook is so well done)
i thought the same thing! but it was amazing! i listened to it on audio and the cast made it that much better! ITS. SO. GOOD!
I LOVED Evelyn Hugo. Did not love this. The good news though is that it's a very quick, easily digestible read so give it a whirl and see what you think!
Hate to be that person... but I was disappointed. Everything was super predictable and unoriginal and I hated the oral history format
I know your getting a lot of advice, but I can't help but share mine! Go for it! I love the Evelyn book, so I know where you are coming from! I am reading Daisy currently and have yet to get bored with it. I love it! Hope you enjoy as well! :)
Totally read it! I have yet to put it down it was the same thing with the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo:
