really liked it

Exiled Viking Tor cursed the gods. The gods were evidently not amused. So Tor and his companions end up in a terrible storm and only survive thanks to a literal deus ex machina--an out of control space ship which mysteriously plunges their longships 3000 years into the past, and right into all kinds of trouble.

Without going into a lot of detail (i.e. no spoilers) I'll simply say that Ms Castell has done her research, and crafted a believable and well paced time-travel tale that manages to incorporate the sexy Vikings (as promised), alien technology, and a Bronze-Age warrior woman with all kinds of issues of her own. And it all turns out to be great fun. The arrogant and (unsurprisingly) suspicious Tor is revealed to have a sense of humor and heart (much to his own surprise). The equally suspicious Kiana (the aforementioned warrior woman), has secrets upon secrets, and a jaundiced view of the intruding Vikings. Top-notch enemies to lovers play here, and Ms. Castell makes the most of her characters and their wary dance. This is a very character-driven story (my favorite type) with believable stakes and motivations. The mark of a good tale--I'm pretty darned impatient to find out what happens next, and heartily encourage this author to get busy with the next installment, in order to satisfy my rampant curiosity.
