Monster's have invaded the city and so curfews are put in place to maintain safety, but they're only taking women. So before the sunsets women must be in the indoors. Unfortunately it wasn't just the monsters that women had to worry about because the human males prowled the shadows waiting to rape and kill women under the guise of protecting them. Jade had to work late and decided to chance going home after the sunset, but when men start following her she runs into an alley to hide behind the dumpster. Terrified now that she hears they've grab another woman and she's frozen in place she hears a voice not human tell her to run before hearing a gunshot. Coming out the alley she see's the carnage left behind by the monster and follow it's landing through a glass window. Once she is face to face with the injured monster she decides to help him. Once she helps she runs to the safety of her home. Fast Forward after a long day she is at work late and decides to walk home since she now carries a weapon for protection after her last run in with the men in the alleyway. Coming face to face with a monster again she's flown away from the city and placed in the cell with other females from the city. In this placed surrounded by monsters she is back in the presence of the one monster she saved and they both have to figure out how to save each other, because their hearts recognize one another.

This is a pretty good story and it's a build up of the romance between Jade and Thorin. The story was slow at some parts at the beginning, but after that it was pretty much fast. Jade was a very annoying character that you learn to love as well want to smack sense into. Thorin was just sexy, but had that hero complex down pact in the story.
