I believed the hype surrounding this book and needed to read it. I wish I didn’t have to give this book any stars. 50 pages in and I was hooked but quickly realized it was a scam just like the plot of the story. The amount of characters and time going from months ago to present day to years ago over & over was entirely too much to keep track of. There were several times when I started reading it I would have to reread the last 2-3 pages I left off to remember what was what. At the end, the main character explains everything and how we got here & in my opinion, it’s not a good book if it has to be spelled out at the end.

Tianna Leinhos Yes yes and yes. I started reading this because it’s so viral but I had to DNF this book at 50%. The characters were terrible and there were SO many of them. I hated that it kept switching from present to 80 other different times in her life. Total waste of time 😂

message 2: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Chounard I have found that 98% of Reese Witherspoon’s book club pick suck.

Lauren Luchtman I have it, and haven’t read it. But now I don’t want to lol

message 4: by Michelle (new) - added it

Michelle Bouknight I have heard so many bad reviews I was waiting to hear a review from you but I’ll be fine not reading this.

Candice Ybarra I loved it!! I was hooked & couldn’t put it down.

Lindsay Rodrigues I just listened to your review on IG and it couldn't have been more spot on!!!! I agree 100000 percent and felt the exact same way!!! SUCH a disappointment!!!

Mariah Removing this from my want to read list now lol

message 8: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Kuban Also removing from my want to read list!! I don’t want a book where I have to think so hard 🤣 totally ruins the enjoyment of reading for me.

Nichole DiNardi Because of your review and my favorite book friend am having the same exact reaction to this book… I’m taking it off my list lol

message 14: by Shanon T (new)

Shanon T Well thankfully I didn’t just buy it! Lol. That was next on my list.

Ashley Thanks for saving me the time!! I’ll be returning this to my library, I trust your review because we have very similar tastes in books! I know you love Freida- you should really dive into some Karin Slaughter books! She’s a very good writer!

message 16: by Joy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Joy Totally disagree! One of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time

message 17: by Amber (new) - added it

Amber Hmmm def removing from my list !! lol

Anika Deweese It was definitely confusing! I listened to it so I think that helped but still disappointed in it.

message 19: by Melissa (new) - added it

Melissa Damn, glad I read this before purchasing!

message 20: by Amanda (new) - added it

Amanda Andruss Im currently reading The Inmate. I got excited you were gonna be reading it at the same time as I just started it yesterday. But oh well! This one was on my list too tho….hmmm

message 21: by Mimi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mimi Sanchez Dang it, I just spent $15 on it 🫣

Erika Dammit! Just bought this 😒

message 23: by Deborah (new) - added it

Deborah O I listened to it on audible and really enjoyed it. I think that helped with the jumping from past to present day.

Kylie Maree No way. Just need to realise the bits of the part she uses a different alias. Don’t be turned off people. I am hard to impress. My first 5 start in a long time.

message 25: by Susan (new) - added it

Susan S Agree

Anissa L Completely disagree, this is one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time and SIGNIFICANTLY better than anything Frieda McFadden writes

Melissa Eglington Completely agree

message 28: by Eve (new)

Eve Lanham Agree I’m halfway done and so bored it’s doing nothing for me I wanted to love it but just can’t.

Rachel Hanes Same here! Totally agree.

Karissa Christman I just finished it and I agree the hype was over rated! To many characters and the end was a little confusing and it was hard to stay invested even with all the twists and turns.

Michelle For those people who suddenly want to jump ship, due to this review…DON’T. BEST THRILLER EVER.

Jackie Same here!

message 33: by Cie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cie Sav Weird. The ‘flashbacks’ didn’t bother me at all And i felt like there weren’t many relevant characters. I can see how the audio version or reading it over a long period of time might be confusing but I thought it was well done.

Candice Knight Shear Should’ve taken your advice on this one! Just finished this book tonight, and I literally hate that I wasted two days of my life on this bad spy movie packaged as a thriller. I watched your TikTok review and should have known better!

Cendi Love Completely disagree, I think it was a great book, one of my faves so far!

Ashley Black I totally agree. I stuck with it just to see how it ended but it was just not for me. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it either.

Kimberly Burks I grabbed this book but didn’t read any reviews until I started it. I’m almost done and have loved it so far, so I’m kinda wondering if the end is really going to let me down that bad.

Darina thanks, think we are the minority here. people just love average reads. and it shows because of the 4+ average ratings. Insane.

Melissa Agree 100%

message 40: by Kara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kara F. I waited for this book to be bad based on your review, but I liked it. Finished it in a day and didn’t find it to be overly complicated to follow. And I like an ending with a neat little bow tying everything together.

Monica Yeah, this book sucked. My first 1 star

message 42: by Elizabeth (new) - added it

Elizabeth Bartos Sounds like you either you weren’t focused while reading or perhaps had too high expectations to absorb what it was you were reading. Sometimes the storyline is really awesome but it’s the way the author writes it. That’s not your cup of tea. You seem to be a minority of reviewers so didn’t care for the book. Thanks for your insight. I’ll try to do better when I read it.

message 43: by Justine (new) - added it

Justine B. The last 30% or so is just the main character explaining everything and I HATE that!

Morgan McConnell I 100% agree with everything you said. This book was sooo confusing!

Marlana Park I agree with you!

message 46: by Mimi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mimi Flaherty I agree! I was starting to worry that my brain wasn’t working right, I had such trouble keeping up!
