I fairly enjoyed the first book in this trilogy - The Bastard. Eric and Harper had chemistry filled with fire and passion and the plot kept me intrigued enough with all of the secrets to want to continue on with the second book in the Filthy Trilogy.

The Princess picks up right where the last book left off with Eric immediately returning to Harper after he stormed off having heard some upsetting news that Harper had kept from him, which luckily he came back just in time when Harper finds herself in some trouble.

If you’ve read my review from the first book, which you can find HERE, I mentioned that around 40% I started getting annoyed with the character dialogue on how they kept constantly repeating themselves about what they wanted and their trust issues, etc. Unfortunately, everything that annoyed me from the first book seemed to be the running theme throughout the entirety of this book.



There was sooooo much character dialogue. I want to say about 85-90% of this book was nothing but conversation where they talked in circles around each other with very little action. And with this much dialogue, it was exhaustingly repetitious with none of it really moving the plot forward. They just kept beating the same points over each other's head and making the same arguments over and over again… and it was mainly Harper doing all the harping - LOL, get it?



Harper really aggravated me in this book. Everything was all about her… what she thought was best, what she wanted and how she wanted things to play out. It didn’t matter that there were actual professionals and a genius (Eric) involved in figuring out who was trying to trying to set them up and murder them… she thought she knew better than everyone and stubbornly refused to listen to anyone, even though she didn't have a leg to stand on half the time. Also, she still had trust issues with Eric, and yet she’s still keeping secrets?!



I really hate that I disliked Harper’s character so much because I still really loved Eric. He was sexy, loyal, fierce, protective, not to mention smart and all-consuming… pretty much everything I love in an alpha.

I also hate that I have to review this book with any negativity, but I have to be honest when saying that this book was barely 3 stars for me. I felt like over half of it was unnecessary filler and the storyline could’ve been condensed into about 50 pages and added to the next book to make it a duet instead of a trilogy. With that being said, I think this story does have an engaging plot and the mystery and suspense of the “whodunnit” is enough to make me want to read the last book. And there are plenty of 5 star reviews so it could just be a case of "its not you, it's me"... but I’ve gotten this far, might as well keep going!
