I was born in London in 1956 and lived most of my life in the south of England.

I ran a naturist resort in Portugal for three fun-filled summers. Mrs Bun decided this was what we wanted to do. We spent two years searching before we found L’Olivette, our little paradise in the South of France, and started offering relaxing holidays in our gîte.

Teachers always tell you to write about things you know about. So, that is what I did!

During the long evenings of the quiet season, a series of novellas and short stories started to take shape, one letter at a time

I have a couple of different stories in development and one of them (a non Rags to Riches story) is about half written.
There is a story I am slowly writing scenes and dialogue for which will be the follow on to Caribbean Blues. Bea keeps whispering bits of the story in my ear, but it tends to be when I'm doing other things! In addition there is at least one short story in Rags to Riches world that Rags has given me.
I expect there are tales from the rest of the extended Adiscombe/Johnston families to tell.

I normally have the complete story in my mind before I start to type.
When the going gets difficult .... I either:
Go to the other end of the story and write backwards from the end.
or
Change project for a while and write a short story .

Going to the other end reminds me of where the story is going and by putting detail I get to see what needs to come before the end. Giving me the building blocks for the bridging the gap.

Otherwise put the thing away, do something else then come back with a fresh mind, read what has made it onto the page and get the story moving again.(less)

“Emerging from the next chalet in the row was a young woman, probably mid-twenties he guessed, about medium height and build, with dark brown bobbed hair. She was clutching an arm full of books and a cup of coffee.
That he had taken all this in, in a single glance, was remarkable. As he had simultaneously taken the fact, she was absolutely naked…
“Good morning Miss!”
“Miss? I never call anyone Miss! She could be married! A radical feminist! And I have just insulted her! I should have said Mizz, or Mam’, Oh God!” The thoughts raced through Addy’s panic-stricken mind.
“There has been a spot of trouble at the clubhouse.” Professional, act professional. “I am making a few enquiries, I’d like to come back and ask you a few questions when …” Professional, you’re a professional, Man up! “… When you have … got yourself sorted out.” Phew!!”
