@Ezeagu, if you are for Biafra, would you take offense with other ibos who choose to fight against Biafra? I know for a fact that not all Ibos share this new found need to revive the Biafran dream, and I see it causing more rifts than bringing people together in the near future. If you are pro-Biafra, would you think little of those who are Ibos but anti-Biafra?

I haven't met an Igbo who will/has fought against Biafra, so I don't know.

@ Kobo

I believe U mean Igbo and not Ibo.

Secondly, where do U get the impression that some Igbos actively oppose the cause for sovereignty in this present day Nigeria?

I don't know if he saw any Igbo people fighting against Biafra in the 60's. . . . . .

Do you have statistical proof that majority Ibgos are against Biafra? Based on the fact that you know some Igbos that are against it doesn't mean all has failed. Is there proof other than you saying so that there are more Igbos that are anti-Biafra than those that are pro-Biafra?

Oh !!! Don't even worry about me now !!! After watching the so called Biafran supporters on here, I am so ANTI-BIAFRA you cannot even stop me now. I am so AGAINST that mindset and I believe anyone who clings to that idea needs to be considerd ANTI-NIGERIA with immediate effect. lol

I am just asking, how would a biafran view a fellow ibo who happens to be against the biafran notion. I mean it is established that the many biafrans on here LOATHE those from other tribes who speak out against the BIAFRAN drive but what about those from within who do not share those views and do not want a break away from Nigeria?

Is this the response to whether you have statistical proof that there are more Igbos anti-Biafra than those who are pro-Biafra or just an answer to something else. Are you an Igbo?

Personally, I have any affection for any Nigerian who pretends that all is well with the Union when it is so blatant to see. If U call that loathing, so be it.

Once again, where did U get the impression that most Igbos dont support the separatist's cause? In the comfort of ur bedroom, abi?

You don't need to meet one really but I know that there are stories of ibos who fought on the other side of that war. I will search the internet until I find one for you someday.

But my point is this. Ibos are not 100% with the Biafran idea. I told you on another thread of some dude who fought for Biafra but believes he was duped by Biafra, when he was asked for money to help fund a cause that never was, after the war. Now, if you were to meet this man, and he told you straight up he would fight to make sure Biafra never lives, what would you think of him, knowing he is also Ibo?

Since we are talking Nigeria here, I can not give you actual numbers but I can give you the fact that for most every election in the east at the national and local levels, people have gone out to cast votes for  Candidates who have promised to progress their cause in NIGERIA and not in BIAFRA. Now, maybe in the future we would get some numbers in to show that people have suddenly chosen to cast votes for candidates who promise to make their BIAFRAN dream a reality, but till then, majority to vote as NIGERIANS and for a better future IN NIGERIA.

I KNOW him. I even KNOW a woman who was duped and will tell you stories of what happened back during the war to her when she was working out in the north and what she met when she moved back to the east. These people exist. They are proud Ibos but are not sympathetic to the Biafran cause.

First of all, this ur word and there is no way for us to ascertain the veracity of ur story.

Secondly, the man fought for Biafra and it goes without saying that he must have lost a lot during the war. That did not stop him from fighting tho. Now after the war , he was duped by some individuals and all of a sudden because of a loss of fund (which would be nothing compared to the losses he must have incurred during the war) he decided to start fighting against Biafra. Are U for real?

Its either the guy never fought in the war or that U are one fat liar.

I would really like it if you could provide me with the source of that fact. Also is there somewhere where I may compare or even see candidates that were running against each other where one candidate was for Biafra and the other wasn't?

OK!!! roflmao!!!

See Analysis!! So you mean it is IMPOSSIBLE to fight in BIAFRA but then not support BIAFRA about 50 years later?? KAI!!! So based on that, it is UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE for an American to fight in the IRAQI war but be against the war at the same time? YIKES!!

Visit INEC and the rules guarding a candidates electability!!! Will sure educate you on how anyone who is ANTI-NIGERIAN is not really likely to make candidate list in an election in NIGERIA. grin

Since you know atleast two people it would seem that there would be other evidence. However it is only your word that there is a man. I actually know a man that fought for Biafra as well and his sentiments are still with Biafra. He is now living in the United States.

See me see wahala ooo!!

I asked a straight up question here. Ibos are NOT 100% for Biafra. I gave you examples of two people I know for sure. Or is this now an attempt to prove that Ibos are 100% PRO-BIAFRA or something?? Why not answer my question? Why try to DRIBBLE around the main issue by making silly claims of examples I gave. . . . people even you cannot deny that I truly know.

Look it will be foolish to think that every igbo person will support biafra. If you know igbos well you will know that igbos do not have herd mentality of some ethnic groups in nigeria. If for anything igbos can be quite individualistic and independent minded. So if the person dislikes the biafra idea it should not come as a suprise to anyone.

As for what a pro biafra igbo person might think of someone against it i believe it will be a case of "just stay out of the fight" or "do something that will make the agitation undesirable"

Yeah, u can do that but not on the flimsy excuse that U were duped.

Americans would not turn against a cause because they were duped by fellow americans. There has to be a deeper underlying principle.

Well, I am not sure I would compare the Ibos to any other tribe in the way you did above, but yeah, the lack of the UNISON as some would PRETEND exists between the ibos is reason why I asked my initial question.

asha 80:

So, are you saying the PRO-BIAFRANS might resort to fighting the ANTI-BIAFRAN ibos then? I mean right here on nairaland many of the pro-biafrans feel they need to INSULT their way into being heard. And I wonder if it is this hard with other ethnicities, how much harder it would be for those are Ibos and anti.
I am not saying other tribalists are saints but you guys are no saints yourselves. So why do you expect to be taken seriously if you have yet to prove that you are any better than the rest of us? I hope you understand what I mean here?
