Commitment to Students and Student Learning Robyn has shown respect for her students, a genuine interest in how the students are feeling in the classroom and a dedication to making sure that they understand the material. She has offered extra help and has been eager to assist the students from her very first day. In the resource room, she has been very involved with the students and does not hesitate to get in there and assist. She has used many different strategies and techniques to aid in student learning. Knowledge Robyn is very knowledgeable in Chemistry and presents as very comfortable with the material. She easily pulls material from previous units into her lessons, despite not having taught those units to this set of students. She also has a good sense of the objectives for the curriculum. She is working on meeting the students at their level, appreciating their prior knowledge and unfamiliarity with the new material. Teaching Practice Robyn has a good presence in the classroom. She gently manages the room and creates a positive welcoming atmosphere. She holds the attention of the students and maintains their focus throughout the lesson, both through her voice, eye contact and physical movement in the room. She communicates well with the students and has been communicating with the parents through the school website calendar. She will continue to work on engaging the students throughout the lesson. She is learning to be more prepared for the delivery sequence of her lessons and needs to spend more time practicing using the whiteboard. Professionalism Robyn arrives early every day, and has shown her self to be both responsible and dependable. She dresses appropriately. She has been respectful to the students, myself and our colleagues. She is enthusiastic and friendly and is fitting in very well with both the Resource and the Science Departments. Leadership and Community Robyn has shown initiative from her very first day here. She is quick to help out with colleagues and students. At this time, there is very little going on in our school community so it has made it hard for Robyn to participate outside of the classroom aside from extra help in the morning and at lunch. She will be accompanying a group of female students in a conference next week promoting women in Science, Math and Engineering at Carleton University.

Ongoing Professional Learning Robyn has been very open to constructive feedback. I have been impressed with how she incorporates immediate changes into her lessons after self-reflection and discussion with me. She acknowledges areas she needs to work on and readily seeks advice. I have seen evidence of learning from her experience in the classroom. Robyn has shown that she is comfortable with technology in the classroom and is used a variety of techniques to deliver her lessons. Learning Plan Robyn will be teaching the Grade 11 Chemistry unit on Solutions, culminating in a Unit Test of her own design. She will be taking over the Grade 10 Science Biology unit this week and will be focused on Cells and Tissues. She will continue to participate actively in the Resource classroom.
