Define your target audience in terms of age, social class, gender,

ethnicity and psychographic profile:

Age: 16-22 year olds. I specifically chose this age bracket because these are young people
and tend to like music the most, particularly the Indie Rock genre. This age range has a
general inclination to buy magazines and this combination made it a relatively
straightforward choice for me.
Social class: I targeted the working/lower middle class as predominantly, it is these classes
which purchase Indie Rock magazines. The content I included in my magazine isnt suitable
for the upper class, as it were, as the topics discussed wouldnt interest them. Also, my
magazine is fairly cheap so it can be afforded by my targeted classes.

Gender: I more or less focused on males as my targeted gender because a) they tend to buy
more music magazines and b) they tend to like Indie Rock more. Having said that, my
content is also appealing to the female audience.
Ethnicity: I specifically made my magazine appeal to and engage all ethnicities as the Indie
Rock genre is a global brand and interest. People likely to buy my magazine would be in
Solihull or indeed the college which is a diverse place.
Psychographic profile: Psychographics is the study of personality, values, attitudes, interests,
and lifestyles. My target audiences personality is easy-going people who attend concerts
and live life to the full. They enjoy reading and taking on information.
