QUESTION 2

HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT

REPRESENT DIFFERENT SOCIAL
GROUPS?
I aimed my music magazine at teenagers aged 15-18 who enjoy listening to
music that doesnt seem to fit with society. There is a growing poulation of
teenagers who feel that they dont fit in and being able to connect to
celebrities who feel the same could be a good starting point for them. They
would connect with the lyrics and be at the perfect age to understand what
the lyrics convey.
Because of my research, my magazine is mostly aimed at females rather than
males. I decided this as in my audience research a higher amount of females
would rather listen to pop than males. Because my magazine is aimed mainly
at females I featured two females on my cover, but keeping in mind the male
gaze to intrigue some male readers. The reason I chose this was because I
wanted the readers to be able to relate to the artists and it helps re-inforce
the artists message as they are the same gender.

My product is aimed at social groups who listen to pop, meaning they expect
to see articles relating to how the chosen artist became famous and their
background. The audience would also expect to see clear and bold
presentation, interesting articles and direct adress.
I decided to use teen models for my magazine to represent the teenager
social group. I modelled the two girls to come across as confident and bold in
all photo, which can be encorouging for all teenagers the same age as
according to maslows hierachy of needs every human needs confidence,
which I have shown all through my work through photography.
For my audience feedback 100% of my participants said that they recognised
my product as pop, therfor it gives me the confidence that my magazine has
successfully represented the genre of pop and the social group.

Overall this gives the impression that the magazine has been successfully
reviewed by hip hop fans therefore has successfully targeted and been
accepted by its specific social group.
