F.M.

50
Time: 2 hours
Answer any five
1. Write short note on weighted code and non-weighted codes? What is
hamming code and how is it used? Subtract -21 from +39 using 2s
complement method. Convert the following binary digit to octal number->
110110.011
(3+3+2+2)=10
2. What is meant by duality in Boolean Algebra? What do you mean by
minterm canonical form and maxterm canonical form?
Prove the following Boolean expression- (A+B)(AC+C)(B+AC) = AB.
Simplify the expression
Y = m (3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 13, 14, 15), using the K-map method.
(2+(2+2)+2+2)=10
3. Design NOR gate using NAND gates. Design a full subtractor using NAND
gates only. Show how a full adder can be converted to a full subtractor
with the addition of an inverter circuit.
(2+4+4)=10
