Message from Our Presidents

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This is our last letter as your Worthy
President and Madam President and we
would like to take this opportunity to thank
the members, officers, trustees, employees
and friends of Castle Rock Eagles
Aerie#3947 for the enjoyable and
rewarding opportunity to serve an important
community organization that deserves to
grow and prosper. We reaped the harvest
of critical volunteers; men and women who
were willing to serve in an official capacity
or to be an ongoing unofficial resource to
the Club. Thank you all.
We look forward to supporting the new
leaders and the work of the Club in the
future. As with the many Presidents before
us, People Helping People guides our Eagles
Club, so to our fellow members we say: Get
Involved - It is your Club and in order for it
to continue, it relies on each of you to be
involved.
Again, thank you and we look forward to
seeing you around the Club,

A THANKFUL GOODBYE

We, the members of the Fraternal Order of

Eagles Aerie #3947 and its Auxiliary, would
like to thank our Officers and Trustees for
their dedication and hard work over the past
year. It is not an easy thing to give up hours
and hours of time with family and career to
help us keep our Aerie running. Your efforts
have not gone unnoticed and we appreciate
all that you have done.
We look forward to another great year at
Aerie #3947 as we prepare to elect a new
group of officers and a trustee. We are
especially grateful to those who make the
commitment to return for yet another year
of guiding us in our fundraisers, special
activities, and operations. Your commitment
is appreciated.

Update on proposed revisions

to our by-laws:
Both revised versions to our By-Laws were
adopted by at least a two-thirds vote of all
member of the Aerie present and voting at
the last meeting. The locally approved
revised By-Laws will be submitted in
duplicate to the Grand Aerie. Once
approved by the Grand Aerie they shall
become effective.

VOTING DAYS ARE HERE!

Voting for our new
officers and a
trustee will be held
in the Social Room
from 11:00am to
7:00pm on May 10th.
Election results will be confirmed
during the Aerie meeting on May 10th
at 7:00pm.
Auxiliary Elections will be during the
May 10th meeting. If all positions are
unopposed, an election may not be
necessary.

Mothers Day Brunch May 8th

Moms eat free! Meals are $6 and meals
for children under 12 are $3.
Come on in early. Well be serving from
10:30am-12:30pm. Come spoil MOM!

CLUB SPRING
CLEAN UP DAY!
May 14th

Wednesdays are Burgers & Bingo nights.

Lindas Burgers are served
from 5:00pm-7:30pm. Bingo
starts at 6:00pm and is a
game of Straight-line Bingo
and Blackout Bingo all in one
game. So DONT clear your
card/s after the Straight-line win because
we keep going for the Blackout winner! Its
$2 per card or 3 cards for $5. Take the
night off from cooking and come have some
fun!

We need Members to help with the interior

and exterior cleaning of our Club. With
many hands comes light work. Please
encourage your fellow members to join you in
helping us to beautify our Club and prepare
for the spring
and summer.

A Bit of News
Our Eagles Club is now selling 20 lb.
bags of ice for $1. If you want a
bunch, please call in advance.
Reminder: There is no parking across
the street from the Aerie before
6:00pm. There is a new tenant in the
building. He says its okay to park
there after 6:00 and on weekends and
holidays. We are grateful and thankful
for that!

Reception Hall
Do you need a large room in order to
celebrate a special event with your family
and friends? We have a wonderful hall
for rent. We also have a commercial
kitchen and a private bar!

or more members, guests, or customers

based on the participation of our members.
If there are fewer than six people in the
Social Room, we may close early due to the
operating expenses involved in remaining
open.

Tree of
Life
Jim and Joni Mattox would like to offer
their heartfelt thanks to everyone who
has called, visited, and prayed for Jims
recovery from a stroke suffered on April
12th. He is now in rehab and on the mend.
He is hoping to be home soon.
Sylvia Brownell is in the hospital. We
wish her a speedy recovery as well.
We hope to see all of these members
back in the Club soon.
Stay well everyone. Spring is here and
summer is not far off. Its time to get
out and enjoy our wonderful Colorado out
of doors.

and Linda take turns
cooking up some
scrumptious meals. Brent does our steak
dinners and Linda surprises us with a variety of
culinary delights.
You can check the calendar for steak nights and
you can call the Club to find out whats cooking
on Lindas Fridays.
Friday Dinner Nights also offer one game of
BLACKOUT BINGO. Cards are $2 each or 3
cards for $5. Come have some fun at your
Club!
(The last regularly scheduled dinner will be
May 20th. Linda may surprise us with a few
during the summer.)

$1 all the money goes in a pot. If

winner on the special card, the pot goes
to the next Sunday Bingo.)

Game 6-7-8-9 STRAIGHT-LINE or

A special sheet of 3 can be purchased
for $2 for this game. If you bring a first
time guest to Bingo you will receive this
sheet for free.
***If any of the information regarding the
Sunday Bingo is inaccurate in our
newsletter, information shared by the
Bingo announcer prior to the
commencement of the games will be
binding.

ABOUT OUR WEDNESDAY AND

FRIDAY BINGO NIGHTS
The Winning Pot for each Wednesday and
Friday night Bingo, not including the
Progressive Pot, is the amount collected
each night less $20. ($5 goes to the
Auxiliary, $10 goes toward the current
Progressive Pot, and $5 goes to fund the
next Progressive Pot.)
On Wednesdays, an additional $20 is
withheld from collected monies and is given
to the first Straight-line Bingo winner. The
Progressive Pot is increased by $10 and one
number each Wednesday and Friday night
until it is won. Progressive Pots start at
$100 and 45 numbers. The amount and
number needed to win are posted on the
hallway door leading to the Reception Hall.

SHOW OFF YOUR SUPPORT

FOR THE EAGLES
We have Fraternal Order of
Eagles hoodies and sweatshirts
for sale at the Club. Stop in and
have a look. There are zip up
hoodies for $35 and sweatshirts for $30.
Hurry and get your size before they are
gone.

Elephant Rock
Bicycle Race
June 5 - the Elephant Rocky Bicycle Ride. Patty
Hasty is the point person for this event and
confirmed the station is
again at the new Elbert
School in Elbert.
Volunteers wanted.

Zonta Trivia Night

The Castle Rock Eagles trivial pursuit
team, participated in the 12th Anniversary
Zonta Douglas County Trivia Night on April 9
at Kirk Hall. With thirty teams this year,
the Eagles finished in the top fifteen. Way to
go!
Team members were Zac Penley, Chuck
Ritchie, Brent and Lezlie Oxley, Pam Orcutt,
and Debbie Buboltz. Patty Hasty was our
sideline cheerleader! Team members Jeanette
Ritchie and Bonnie Wright were in abstencia .
Some of the Trivia Categories this year were:
The American Civil War; Masterpiece Theatre;
Blockbuster Soundtracks; Mixology (luckily a
bartender was on our team!) The final category
was The Denver Broncos, (and luckily Bronco
fans were on our team!)
Ed Greene, of CBS 4, was Master of
Ceremonies for the third year in a row. Flying
Horse Catering provided a delicious Italian
buffet as well as a dessert bar, complete with a
chocolate fountain!
Zonta raises money for grants,
scholarships, and education in order to
"Empower Women and Children Through
Service and Advocacy." Locally, during the
past eleven years, over $85,000 has been
donated to charities and over $12,000 given
in scholarships to local high school seniors.

Each year, decorations at Kirk Hall include lots

of brightly colored brassieres hanging on the
walls which will be sent to women in foreign
countries who cannot afford to buy them. There
are over 1200 Zonta organizations in 64
countries, including the United States.
Congratulations and thanks go to the
Eagles and to Zonta Douglas County as well
as all the participants and volunteers who
helped make this a fun and successful
evening! See you next year!!!!

The Soup Contest

The contest was held on
April 30th so we wont be
able to brag about the
winners until the June
Newsletter. We do;
however, want to thank
everyone who was involved
in this annual event that is mighty tasty and
worth every penny thats raised. Funds
support our Eagles Auxiliary Donation Fund
and the Zonta Club of Douglas County.

June 19th
The Club will again host a special
Fathers Day celebration on Sunday ,
June 19. It will be organized by the
new Auxiliary President so check the June
newsletter for details and know that its definitely
going to happen.

June 4 to be a part of the
Clubs 36th anniversary
celebration. State
dignitaries are expected
and it will be wonderful to
catch-up with old friends
and meet new ones.
