Dear Brother and Sister Elks,

One month in and although things have been a bit crazy, I still do not regret my decision to
become the Exalted ruler of our lodge . That being said Im sure it would be way more difficult
without the help and hard work of our officers and dedicated members and for that I thank you.
I also want to acknowledge that I am very proud of the way the members of our lodge look out
for each other and offer there support and kindness through tough times, which is what made it
easy for me to join this lodge when I was given the opportunity. In this I say to the members
who we have not seen in a while come on over and be a part of this great family.
For those members that have read the past few news letters you should be aware that the 5 years is up for our Bi-laws
changes. Thank you to PER Roger Paradis for making this happen. Roger has informed me that he has received an email
from the Grand Lodge and our bi-law changes that he submitted are being reviewed and should be in finished within
the next week or two.
I dont want to go over all the bi-law changes that were submitted because they were already posted in a past
newsletter about 3 months ago, but there is one that may affect some of the members who have guest that visit the
lodge from time to time. This new change is the three visit rule. This rule has been put in place for very good reasons.
any visiting guest are given 3 opportunities to come to the lodge and be with family and or friends, participate in
any of the lodge activities. If they like what the lodge has to offer and would like to become a member they then
are given the same opportunity to join as everyone else. By doing this it only adds value to the cost our membership,
and it is not fair to any of the members who faithfully pay there dues every year.
I would also like to congratulate Ellie Lagare for a job well done in the Elks Hoop Shoot national championship that was
held in Chicago on April 16th, Ellie finished 10th in the country in the 8-9 year old girls. Thank you for representing the
Lewiston Elks Lodge.
Also starting in May on Fridays we will be offering members a chance to win at our three card challenge card game,
so come join in on the fun and try your hand.
Just want to say on behalf of the Lewiston Elks Lodge 371, We had a great turnout for our fundraising BBQ that was
held on the Saturday of the State Convention. Thank you to all the Elks members who came to our lodge and made a
donation to MCCP. With your participation we were able to raise $500 for the Maine Children's Cancer Program.
Thanks you to all the people who donated food, your time, hard work and other miscellaneous Items for this event.
Also we would like to thank Larry Stewart for donating his shuttle bus and all the people who drove the shuttle back
and forth from the Ramada to the Elks over the weekend.
Rose is still looking for some help in the kitchen on Wednesdays, so even if you can help on occasions, Rose can still use
your help. Please call Rose at 207-577-2727
Also, I would like to thank Heather Chapman for her work as our Function Coordinator and part time bartender.
Due to some temporary restrictions given to Heather by her doctor, she will until further notice not be able to offer
her services. At some point Heather wants to come back and bartend for us part time.
That being said we are looking for a function coordinator so if anyone is interested please contact me

From the Secretary

We have five members that have been members of the Lewiston Elks Lodge #371 for more than 30 years, and
having attained the age of at least 65 years and having been members in good standing in this Lodge for the past
10 years, do hereby request Life Membership in our Lewiston Elks Lodge # 371. The candidates are: Ronald
Leblanc, Roy Farnum, Larry Campbell, Robert 'Bob' Dubuc and Thomas Case. These 5 candidates will be voted on
in our next regular meeting on May 9th. This is great.
The pot of Gold was not won and will be $40.00 at our next meeting on May 9th. I do have one request of all our
members. If all of you can bring one family member or one friend to our Lodge to show him or her what the Elks
Lodge is all about, maybe he or she will become a member just like you.
Spring is in the air, lets enjoy. "We do not meet people by accident they are meant to cross our path"

From The First Lady:

Hello Brother and Sister Elks, I just wanted to say that we appreciate your help with all
the events that we have put on over the past few weeks and It really takes help from many
Hands, so thank you all. All the members that cooked meals on Friday nights Thank you. Its
Nice to know that we have a lot of members that can cook and help fill in with new recipes.
The State convention has come and gone and I really got to see what the Elks do, it was very
rewarding to see all of the various contributions that the Elks make throughout the year. As
a group we can really make a difference. In the process of putting together fundraisers it is
important that we dont forget to have fun.
