Seven Oaks Elementary School, Odenton, MD August 2015-Present Student teacher, first grade, 22 students Collaborated with other educators, school faculty, and specialists to plan instruction designed with the aim of encouraging excellence for every student in language arts and mathematics. Planned interactive and hands-on daily and long-term instruction to meet the Common Core State Standards. Differentiated instruction for every student by observing and analyzing assessments in order to identify each individuals strengths and weaknesses. Implemented a successful Student Impact Project that supported the school Student Learning Objective and increased the F&P levels of the target group. Participated in national, county, and school-wide professional development to design curriculum content with a focus in fostering social-emotional development of students. Integrated arts into planned instruction and scheduled monthly STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lessons. Incorporated the use of technology in the classroom to facilitate center rotations, enforce classroom management, and enrich student understanding of complex concepts. Utilized individual treatment plans to instruct students how to behave in the community and at home. Worked with autism specialists, physicians, speech pathologists, and school psychologists to certify that each special needs student was receiving superior education and sufficient attention. Attended professional development training sessions including Positive Behavior Management and Safe Restraints. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Camp Innoworks, College Park, MD Mentor/ Counselor, 40 Middle school students August 2013 Designed instruction to ensure students developed a concrete understanding of STEM concepts. Developed active lessons and experiments to showcase the many facets of STEM.
