Answering Techniques on Paper 2 for the Year 6 pupils. This workshop was held in order to boost pupils confidence and knowledge in answering the Paper 2 questions. Pupils often lack the knowledge and understanding of how to answer the questions. Due to this, they are not able to perform well in the English paper in UPSR. Therefore, an experienced examiner and one of the panels of the Malaysian Examination Board was called to give hands on tips on the answering techniques. It was none other than Mr. Jega from Sekolah Kebangsaan Nyatuh. Various techniques were taught to pupils and at the same time teachers too gained valuable knowledge and experience on the answering and the teaching techniques. It was a great opportunity to have an experienced examiner since he was able to solve the confusion that some of our teachers had regarding the answer scripts. Mr. Jegas workshop did cater for two groups, i.e the moderate and the weak ones. Both the samples of answering scripts were discussed and the pupils were asked to copy down the notes. The teaching methodology that was used is teacherstudent centered approach. Pupils were given time to answer and the speaker corrected their answers orally. It was a good approached since time was limited. Overall, the workshop went on well as it was planned. There were some constrains that we had to deal with i.e, the LCD was blur and the pupils were tired as it was held after school hours. In the near future, the English Panel would propose events to be conducted on Saturday mornings as pupils would be fresh to receive the workshops better. The English Panel would like to take the opportunity to thank the Management. Without the fullest cooperation and commitment from the administrators and teachers, especially the English Language teachers, this program would not be a great success. Hopefully, it could be done as a yearly activity for the English Language Panel in order to increase pupils performance in the English Language subject.
